They have a large menu of Mexican treat inspired…read moredrinks which all looked super yummy but I was in the mood for a less sweet/dessert forward option. We came in around 10:30 AM and got our drinks pretty quick even though the cafe was busy. There are plenty of tables so it was perfect for us to stay and do some work. I ordered the horchata latte without whipped cream and I really liked it! The coffee flavor was strong and you could taste a hit of cinnamon. My friend for the matchata (horchata matcha) with vanilla cold foam and she enjoyed her drink as well. Their drinks are definitely on the sweeter side but are also highly customizable! Overall, I would definitely come back to try some of their other specifically drinks :) Ratings Horchata latte: 4.5/5 Matchata: 4.75/5

The inside was clean, including the bathroom. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito and an Arcoiris latte. The burrito was fresh and delicious! The potatoes could have been cooked a few minutes longer, but it was good nonetheless. The salsa they served with it was amazing! I could have drank it lol they should sell it individually. The latte was good! A different flavor profile that is based on a Mexican cookie. I really enjoyed it. I sat and read for a bit before leaving. This place has good vibes, good food, and great coffee!

We've tried most of the breakfast menu and have never been let down, it's all delicious. Whether the place is busy from games just ending or a little slower during the week the vibes are always just right. An Avondale must go!

Let me preface this review by saying that I am reviewing the experience as much, if not more, than…read morethe food and drinks. My wife and I absolutely love New Penny. We actually followed the owners here after frequenting their previous coffee shop, En Route. When they opened New Penny, supporting them was an easy decision. The café is thoughtfully divided into two distinct spaces: a family-friendly dining area and a lounge-style bar area geared more toward adults. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. There are house-made dishes, local merchandise, a shaded patio, and plenty of charm throughout. My wife's favorites are the Breakfast Totchos and the Acai Bowl. Personally, I am also a loyal Breakfast Totchos fan. As for drinks, the Copper Coin and the legendary Cowboy Latte are both worth ordering. What truly sets New Penny apart, however, is the people. The owners and staff have created a space that feels inclusive, welcoming, and genuinely connected to the community. Support local businesses. Better yet, support local businesses that are doing things the right way. Get to know the owners. Get to know the staff. Places like New Penny don't just serve food and coffee--they create gathering places. Whether you're meeting a friend, taking a business meeting, enjoying a date, or simply looking for a quiet place to sit by yourself, New Penny delivers. One of my favorite local businesses, and one that my family will continue to support.

This is such a fantastic addition to Phoenix and I hope Ri's Coffee does well! Honestly, there are…read morecoffee places that pack a bit more happiness than others, and this is definitely one of them. They're a whole mission, starting with the coffee they serve - from an organization in Honduras that employs single moms to harvest the beans, and provides a safe home for children who are experiencing neglect and abuse. The young people with disabilities who are employed in this little coffee shop absolutely shine. They are a delight to have around. I especially loved meeting Josh today - he was so full of joy and really fun to talk to! They have a large, welcoming space with comfy seats, a play area for kids, and a small shop that celebrates and supports the disability community with really cute t-shirts. Generally speaking, places like this are often all heart and mission, often times at the expense of everything else, but Ri's somehow managed to do it all. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food and drinks are genuinely delicious. My almond croissant and tea were both amazing, and my friend really enjoyed his latte too. All of it, plus the warmest smiles, for $12. Plenty of parking outside, plenty of space inside, and a business really worth supporting!

Beautiful, absolutely BEAUTIFUL Every kind of plant you could want. Inside and outside are gorgeous. Anyways, super cute place with a lot of plant themed gifts and items, and of course, a lot of plants! While I'm not looking for more indoor plants I could not resist getting a healthy prayer plant. Small but I thought a good deal at $12. They also had some really tempting haworthia but I had to say no as I do not have my current indoor plant menagerie under control. Excuse to go back in the future! I went mid-day on a weekday and was able to get street parking easily. It might be harder during certain hours. This spot on Grand has really gorgeous planters - and the shop is across from Novel ice cream and like a 2 min walk from Grand Ave Brewing, so if you time it right you could support multiple local businesses!
