I recently went here for an event, and this place is so awesome! The owner wanted to a create a space on the west side where people could come together and build community through events, music, and action, while providing food and drinks. His vision has come to fruition. It's a colorful outside space with lots of room. I was there for an interview and afterwards, a DJ played. It's a relatively small menu of food with burgers, nachos, and quesadillas. I enjoyed my cheese quesdilla and topo chico seltzer. It's a family owned-place and the workers were all very friendly. I definitely want to be back to support this place.

On any list that describes what you should visit in San Antonio, you'll have the venerable San Antonio Riverwalk, the Market Square, and the UNICEF recognized San Antonio Missions in the Southside. You'll also get lame recommendations like visting the alamo or the nearby Ripley's Believe It or Not, or some other cheesy venue. However, what you should visit are institutions in San Antonio's barrios, and in the Westside of San Anto we are talking about places like Roosevelt Park, Ray's Drive Inn, The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and Jaimes Place. What sets apart Jaimes Place is it's hold on the heart of the Westside. Although the location was opened during the pandemic, Jaime Macias is following a tradition of his fathers in having a gathering place in the Westside. In essence what is a local dive bar in the middle of several tire shops and convenient stores that pepper the area, it's become a cultural institution as Jaimes Place holds movie festivals, poetry readings, art installations, car club showings, and DJ parties that keeps the spirit of San Antonio intact. It's the music gatherings that truly offer an experience to San Antonio. On any given weekend night, you might have Bombasta, a salsa cumbia brass 8 person band jamming out, a night of cruising classics spun by Crate Royalties, or a local Tejano band testing the bands sounds and you see San Anto at its finest. People dancing, cumbia lines forming, beers sloshing around, and people giving each other smiles and winks, enjoying la música típica. It's on these nights where Jaime's Place captures the spirit of El Mero Weso, where folks in work clothes enjoy a beer at the same time a vato y su hyna are dressed to the nines dance to Sunny and the Sunliners while a group celebrating a cuñadas birthday regal in that warm summer breeze... and you see what San Antonio truly is, beyond those terrible pamphlets and brochures you get at the Hyatt tempting you to visit a nearly 300 year old building. If you want to see, and most importantly feel San Antonio, make the 5 minute drive from San Antonio and get down James Brown to the sound of the Westside at Jaimes Place. Pro Tip: Say hi to Jaime as you walk in, you'll see him checking out the crowd. Tell him you read Rodrigo's review which prompted your visit. It won't get you anything free but at least he'll know I did put the review. Pro Tip: Get a bucket of beers as it's a great deal; they'll let you mix up the beers too so you can try several. Food isn't sold here so come after dinner or order it and have it delivered; plenty or tables to go around.

    Mas California in the westside.

The drinks and service was great. Was a little disappointed that during fiesta they had a California band headlining. And today I saw a poster with the amazing shirt that says unbow your head but the hat in it is a San Diego hat. Pictures are everything and this place is becoming California based and that's just not the westside. The music and images of our community are everything and when I come here I want to feel at home. Not the California being pushed on us with the music from califas and sports teams. Let's have some pride in where we're from and the artist here. And then I saw more califas being rammed down our throats with future events. Really sad. First the Californians come buy our houses for cheap and now our spaces we thought were built for our barrio.

Rode our bikes on a Pub Ride on Sunday, 2/20 and stopped here for Aqua Sol Sunday with DJ Despienada who was spinning some great tunes from Tejano, Rock and Funk that was nice on this wonderful winter day. The place had a good local crowd as we all enjoyed food, drinks and music. Service was super sweet and they had a couple crafts on tap (sorry Yuengling isn't craft...lol). Was going to the port-a-potty outside and a gentleman told me there were restrooms inside and I should look around. So glad I went inside to see this old house transformed into a nice area with sitting areas and stairs leading upstairs. This is a great place to enjoy the city feel with beer and food.

In the heart of the west side is Jaime's Place. Pretty chill west side dive bar with the soul of San Antonio. There's good live music, great drinks and good vibes. I highly recommend their Blue Hawaiian, boozy but not overwhelming. I have yet to try the food so that's for the next visit.

This place is neat. It's on the west side of town. Deep west side of town. And let me just say this. It's about time someone brings a touch of class to the west side. I mean, charcuterie boards in the west side?? Hell yeah! Let's show them the raza has some class! It's a Large place. VERY well put together and very clean. They seem to have a dj many nights. The only reason I have given them only 4 stars is because they're beer and wine only..... since I can't really drink beer anymore it really puts a damper on the things I can get here. If they will consider carrying some sorts of liquor at some point I know that we would come here MUCH more often especially since they are RIGHT down the street from the house.

I love coming to Jaime's place. The food is good, drinks are cold and the music is immaculate. Jaime's Place is the heart of the west side, championing traditional Latino culture which has built the area and sharing it with other members of the community. It's a good place to come back to your roots and always feel at home. The wings and burgers are really good and always cooked to perfection. The outdoor patio is my favorite place to sit but there is indoor availability as well. Inside you will see San Antonio history , specifically as it pertains to the Macias family mixed in with some awesome artwork. The staff is also very nice and friendly. You always feel at home at Jaime's Place.

Jaime's Place is the perfect place to go to listen to some good old Chicano Soul and Tejano music! It was a bit cold but they had affordable beer buckets and food specials! The kitchen closes at 10, but they had a little market in the inside of the area. It's an all outdoor venue but it's a great place to have family and fun. Great music to dance to!

Such a fun place to hang out!! Beer menu longer than food menu. Not much on food choices but otherwise a great friendly place to hang out

Jaime's Place is a great local bar and hangout spot for everyone. Children are welcome and you're always guaranteed a great time, a cold drink, and some great music! I enjoy visiting Jaime's place at least once a week and make sure to order the wings or the nachos every visit. I recommend Jaime's Place, which is located on a property owned by the family for many generations. They really do take pride in their work and hospitality.

Great place to enjoy live music and get a feel of San Anto! Outside is spacious and all around a great feel. Enjoy art work inside and outside of Mexican-American culture!

Our bartender was awesome and quick to get us our drinks and I must say everything was mixed very well! Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned. Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
