We went on Saturday April 25. We had asked if we could take a table to set up in the smoking area, they agreed. We get there and perfect one of their table free with room for ours. We had about 25 people coming from here and out of town. We decorate the tables when this person comes and says nooooo this is my table I reserved it. We told her the reserved table was the one next to that other table. She said no I want this table!!! I'm the owner!! And took all our decorations off!! Been here once before to open them up on a Sunday afternoon and loved hanging under the highway with our bucket of beers talking about the World Cup game we watched earlier that morning (Mexico vs Germany). Uh yes!!! Never knew this place existed, but fortunately my uncle is a cop and that means he knows all the hidden gems in the city. Don't let the look of this place turn you away. Think of that backyard feel with friendly neighbors that don't care how loud you get or hold loud the music is. Beer is by the bucket, with plenty of ice and limes. Music is caters to that oldie vibe which also sparks an interests to drink. The staff I don't think could be more friendly if they tried. The only reason I didn't give this spot the 5th star, was do to no food. I was hungry when I showed up and starving by the time I left. Sanchez Ice House is the kind of place where both of my parents love to come every Friday night, after work, to have a couple of beers & dance on the concrete dance floor. It is adorable to see my parents have such a good time and let off the built up weeks stress from work. They have many friends and love to chat it up in conversations with other patrons & regulars about the weather, their work week, politics, and the city news. Beers are always cold here and can be ordered by the bucket from the nice waitress who walks around the place taking orders and discarding empty bottles. Be sure to tip her well so that the next time you run out of a beer or beers she can come to you in a hurry with your next round. Bring bug spray if you are here in the summer as sometimes the moscas will bother you if you aren't ready. Parking is (free!) right underneath I-35 & steps away from the dance floor. Cash only so be sure to hit up the ATM before you head here. This outside patio is popular on Thursdays for bikers. The beer is reasonable and cold. The music is mostly oldie but goodies mixed with Tejano on jukebox. Sometimes people will get up and dance. This place is not at all fancy but on nice evenings it's a good place for beer drinking and beer talk. People are not necessarily the friendliest, but tolerated our group of first-timers. There is a designated smoking area outside the fenced patio. There are only a few restrooms and lines get long. Yessss Sanchez! Great old school ice house vibe with plenty of motorcycle and vintage car eye candy. Drinks were ice cold and fairly priced and the service was awesome. There's obviously a big "regular" crowd which is always a good sign and the little grassy area where parents were playing football with the kids over a few beers with friends added to the charm. They play a perfect mix of country vs. Mexican classics which makes Sanchez Ice House an ideal hangout after work for a chill wind down. Cash only but they do have an ATM inside. Awesome place to hang out and listen to oldies and be with a mellow crowd. And yes, the bikers come here, but they're the cool ones...love to check out all the different Harleys. A real atmosphere of unity here...nice breeze and you'd never know you were sittng right under an I-35 bridge. i went to this bar last night and the oldies in the jukebox are real firme this is probably the best jukebox with oldies bar i loved the selection of chicano oldies they have the westside oldies in there that was super cool ey its a outside bar so be prpared to be outside in shorts and a muscle shirt because san antonio is so hot tu sabes hehe overall its firme the beers are really cheap 2$ beers the only bad thing this bar closes at 11pm everynight good place to be if youre downtown under the bridge read more
