I am all about that food life, and yes, I totally traveled from Vegas to San Antonio on a turn around flight just for these wings! Seriously, the whole vibe was on point: the music was jamming , the service was great (very personable and the owner got jokes for days), and don't even get me started on the Kool-Aid and lemon pepper hot wings - pure ! It was an absolute feast for the senses. You *have* to try these if you're live in Texas or are ever in. town! There's a bar that this spot is connected to and I enjoyed sipping and sitting on the patio people watching and catching the vibes from surrounding bars. You can totally bar hop in this neat little cozy area. Meet me there, don't beat me there.. You're welcome cause you'll be glad you listened.

The wings here are phenomenal. They are crispy yet drenched in sauce. I like that they toss the carrots and celery in the sauce too. You go in the bar, order at a kiosk, and get a buzzer. The food comes out piping hot. I may even say these are the best wings I've had in San Antonio.

Hands down the best wings in San Antonio. They won awards from SA current but most people don't take SA publication about good seriously. But this is one that the Current got right. The buffalo hot is a big jump from their buffalo mild but I'm telling you the HOT is the way to go with lemon pepper. It's located inside in the back of the bar through a small window next to the pool table. There will be a line so you can't miss it. Services always great, always kind, and always showing love. This is hard 5!

My new favorite wing spot in San Antonio. I've never had Memphis wings (and frankly I still don't know what the difference is) but they are amazing!!! The wings are crispy, crunchy, and flavorful. They are on the smaller side which I actually prefer, because you get a better texture and crunch-to-meat ratio. I think bigger wings can get a little chewy. I also love the location inside Three Star Bar so you can enjoy a drink and the vibe while you eat your wings. Pro tip- Wednesdays are dollar wing day!

Save yourself from ordering from Pluckers or BDubs and order from Fried Hard instead. Above and beyond service 10/10 wings, fries, and ranch Highly recommend the Memphis Bold wings!

In all caps.. THESE ARE THE BEST WINGS IN SA. Hands down!!!! I've been supporting him along his journey and let me tell you. The owner is solid and knows wtf he is doing!!! 10/10!!! Spicy savory deliciousness.

Great food! Great service, they care about the food they are making? Tucked away in the back of a local bar, make sure you check them out.

Best wings ever!! I had the Memphis sauce flavor and they were perfectly spicy. Service was great, with getting to try sauce samples before ordering and the food came out fresh. Three star bar is a cute little dive style venue and it works well for fried hard.

If you have trouble locating it. I'm in the yard looking this business across the street.

I've heard the "best wings in the city" commentary. I've participated in it. As a transplant, I'm looking for more than fancy named sauces and wings on steroids. A bigger wing ain't a good wing and sauces are supposed to complement the wing. I'm looking for chicken that's seasoned & fried right before it's drowning in sauce. I'm looking for regular sized wing parts (I prefer flats but if it's done right, I'll love the drum almost as much). Now I've had some decent wings here and I've had some I've named the best until I tasted better. But when I heard "Memphis" style wings, I rubbernecked "Mane, say what, now?" and I'm not from Memphis (I lived there briefly 10 years ago). If you've ever been to Memphis, you can say what you want about it (I loved my time there & I've reviewed almost everywhere I've eaten) but you can't say the food isn't good. It's better than good, it's great. These. Wings. Are. No. Exception! Yeah, so we headed downtown to see what's up because, I was tired of not being in the number. Silently, I was hoping to not be disappointed. First, this business has no storefront of its own. I hate I didn't grab a picture but it's a renovated home that is a separate business with tables out front and covered ones in the back. Fried Hard is in the back of the house. Last night was a good night to eat outside. If we'd planned to stay the tables in the back with the screens would have been ideal even with the temps dropping. We ordered online but they are clear - they will not start preparation of your order until you arrive and pick up your order. This is because they want you to receive the freshest product. I'm not mad at that. So, expect to wait and figure in longer waits if they're super busy. We ordered shortly after 8pm (2 6 pc honey gold, a large seasoned fry to share). Got there around 830pm. I was able to meet by two people, a young woman & a young man who were pleasant. I got to chat it up with him (not sure if he's the owner but he was definitely the cook) and told him I heard good things and that when I heard Memphis I came to see if this was really going to represent. We jokingly chatted that since I knew what I should be getting, he was no doubt bringing it! :). My order was ready in just over 15 (honestly, it was a good night, I really don't know how long it took, but it wasn't too much longer than that). I promised them if this is good, I'm spreading the word. I was given a complimentary cup of blue raspberry kool aid. I gave that to my partner because i don't do sugar drinks. I grabbed the order and we headed back home. Listen, the whole way home I'm wondering why this bag is so heavy. I mean heavier than what I thought our order would weigh. When I got home I saw why. There were a few extra wings (it was appreciated) but it was those chunks of fresh carrots & celery swimming in that sauce with the wings. Chunks of veggies and I wasn't mad at it. I like that both veggies were there. There was no either or choice or invisible veggies lol. I like both celery & carrots). The wings. The wings were everything they were hyped up to be and everything they were supposed to be. Memphis was represented!!! Whether you agree or not, is on you. But what you cannot say is that these wings weren't fried hard and delicious. Cooked to perfection. Not wings on steroids. Not poorly seasoned wings over compensated with sauce. Properly prepared delicious wings. My partner who knows how I am about eating my fries first because u like them hot, noticed I was so focused on the wings the fries had hardly been touched. That's a good sign, because I ALWAYS eat & finish my fries first. The wings were that good. I agree with the restaurant, if you haven't had the sauces, start with the honey gold. I'm down to try them all. The fries were a tad bit over seasoned for me (I'm prefer a light seasoning) but he had no complaints. I pulled mine from the bottom. And I know I told you I don't do sugar drinks, I remember what kool-aid is supposed to taste like but I took a sip and of course, they got that right too!!! Overall, they're the real deal whether you're looking for a taste of Memphis or just some very well done wings perfectly executed. The only thing I'd do differently is order all flats if allowed.

That's how I ended up trying Anthony Fish & Chicken, and honestly it turned out better than expected. The restaurant is located on the east side of San Antonio, which happens to be the area I grew up in. Some people who aren't familiar with the area might consider it a little rough, but in my experience those neighborhoods often have some of the best food in the city. I called in my order and was quoted about 25 minutes. It took a little longer than that, but it wasn't a problem. When I pulled up there were a grip of cars waiting for food, so clearly the place stays busy. One thing to know if it's your first time: if you don't call ahead, you order at the window. I accidentally tried going inside at first and was told they were serving through the window only, which was fair enough. I ordered the 15-piece lemon pepper chicken, which came with fries and two slices of bread. We also grabbed steak nachos at the last minute, and those didn't even make it home because they got demolished in the car. They were loaded with toppings and I'm pretty sure they used Doritos for the chips, which added extra flavor. The chicken itself was excellent. Crispy, fresh, and clearly made to order. The legs and thighs were seasoned well and the portion size was generous. A 15-piece could easily feed a small family of three or four. Between the nachos and a couple sides we made at home, it actually ended up feeding five people comfortably. The crinkle cut fries were also solid and had a nice seasoning on them, and the hot sauce they give with the chicken paired really well. When I arrived there were a grip of cars waiting, and after trying the food I understand why. Compared to my number one fried chicken spot, Chatman's Chicken, this place honestly holds its own. The chicken here is crispy, fresh, and flavorful all the way through. Another thing I appreciated was the value. I've seen places around San Antonio charging close to $20 for a simple three-piece meal, and the food doesn't even come close to this quality. Here the portions and price felt much more reasonable. Anthony's definitely has something going on. They have a solid menu with plenty of combos and options for a good price. Next time I'll probably try the wings because they looked great coming out of the kitchen. Overall this spot definitely satisfied my fried chicken craving. I'll be back again.
