What I'm most impressed about with the Jailhouse Cafe, is that I hadn't been there since I was 21 and it's still exactly how I remember it. The food is great, get the soul food bacon and either benedict and you'll love it. Pancakes area great. Lets talk about the best place to have coffee next to the Moab coffee roasters. Its' all you can drink and it's super high quality. Go right before a hike and get super jazzed for the trail. Plus since it's mostly outdoors, you can visit during a stupid pandemic and feel safe. They looked super busy this morning, but the wait was 15-20 mins. The restaurant expands into several different wings. Brilliant as to serve more customers! All 5 of us enjoyed our breakfasts from ginger and swedish pancakes, spinach/mushroom omelet, eggs benedict and regular pancakes/eggs and their infamous bacon. We had been on a sunrise photo shoot at Arches. We were hungry and had been told by locals this was a great place. We suspected a party of 9 would take forever to seat. Nope. We got a table in a few minutes and everyone enjoyed their breakfast. The bacon was awesome. The ginger molasses pancakes were tasty. The waitstaff was great and so happy to help. Came in today 6/18/22 seating was quick but the food was HORRIBLE ordered the eggs Benedict and company ordered pancakes and bacon . Starting with the EN it came to table less the warm almost cold and hollandaise sauce was sitting so long it had a hardened layer . Potato's came out warm as well Sent it back and just to reheat in microwave knew it couldn't hurt . Other plate of 3 oversized and DOUGHY pancakes were as well inedible . Bacon was ok . A great place for early birds, opens at 6:30am. We went here around 7am and were were the third table there. The place is big when they open up the outside seating. I went with the eggs Benedict Florentine it was good but nothing out of the ordinary. They provide with a good portion of hollandaise sauce. My wife went with the mushroom omelette and thought it was good too. The highlight was their multigrain walnut waffle. It was really good and would recommend getting it if you are here. Had brunch here a couple days ago and it was good. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was great. My wife had the egg special, which has amazing strips of bacon. The restaurant itself is quaint. Service was okay. Had the staff been a little more personable this would be a five-star review, but I'll take terse service over poor food any day. One word: yum. This place is as right as rain. My family and I (party of five) came in on a Wednesday morning at 11a and were seated within minutes. I will mention that this place was still full despite it being a weekday. It's winter and from the outside looking in, it looks like you'll be freezing eating your breakfast. Not the case at all. The seating area is blocked out by tarp-type material and warmed with heaters above your heads and a few standing heaters. No complaints of cold here. Portion sizes are perfect. Not too much, not too little. Breakfast/diner food often has a reputation of huge portions which for me, will usually go to waste. My family and I collectively had: one coffee, the southwest eggs florentine, southwest eggs benedict, spinach/feta/mushroom omelet, chorizo scramble, a 3-stack of pancakes, and a side of bacon--all for $63 after tax. I have no complaints about flavor--it was all delicious. The seasoned potatoes that come as a side with either eggs benedict/florentine were terrific with a mild crunch. The side of bacon is thick and substantial but still crunchy af. The chorizo scramble is similar to chilaquiles--tortilla strips, chorizo, some scrambled eggs, and seasoned potatoes in the mix. Ugh I'm salivating as I write this even though it's only been a few hours since we ate this. Thanks, for making me hungry again as I write this review, Jailhouse Cafe. Few places open before 8 am and this was one. Wish we didn't!! Menu wasn't much and they don't substitute when asked. 2 breakfast and 2 cups of coffee, $50!!! Really?? Not southern fried green tomatoes, Just green tomatoes. If you are going to have prices like this, have espresso or cappuccino and avocado/toast. Eggs Benedict Mexicana was excellent. Pancakes were a bit heavy and not light and fluffy. This could just be a difference in how they are made where we live. They were still tasty. I knocked this down to 4 stars because there was an 18% automatic gratuity for a to go order. I understand doing this for large parties but not a to go order. And I added 2 bucks on top and f the order not know they already gave themselves a 20% tip on a to go order.
