I've shopped A LOT at this store (spent over 20k the past year) remodeling a two-story house in…read moreGalena. While I'm pretty knowledgeable about most things when going in and making a purchase, I've found that many of the staff here at this location are not. Recently we had some blinds cut as we finished up our remodel and the first batch we had cut was by a very experienced staff member and his cuts were perfect. The second time we went back a different guy cut the blinds (we had to find the boxes for him, he didn't know they even had the product and told us they didn't have them, until we showed him where they were). When he went to cut the blinds he told us he didn't use the cutting chart with the machine and just eyeballed them according to our measurements. Guess what? We had to return three of them because his cuts were so far off they didn't fit our windows. His cuts were also extremely sloppy, jagged, crooked, etc., and yet this guy worked IN the blinds section, so he had no excuse. Another time I was in the tools section and asked the associate assigned in that section about a masonry blade they had in stock. She was utterly clueless. She had no idea what a masonry blade was or what it would be used for. Basic stuff. Obviously no training, yet this particular associate (a middle-aged woman who I know has been there a long time having observed her before numerous times), couldn't tell you the first thing about the blades in stock. She was like huh? And walked away. I've also noticed that when you are in the electrical, plumbing, lumber, and tool sections, do not expect any help unless you are willing to wait in line at the front desk or pro desk. I've personally seen associates in these sections see you in an aisle and do an about face and walk down a different aisle to avoid a customer who may have a possible question or even avoid greeting them as they passed. This is not an isolated incident as I've observed this many times. In the tool sections (the highest profit section of the store) you almost NEVER see associates in those aisles. They should have someone their constantly. It's almost impossible to find associates in that section unless you go to the pro desk and request it. Considering everything is locked up in cages it's a major pain. When i worked for Home Depot 20 years ago as a high school and college student they were firing the associates at stores across the country (order came down from HQ), for associates that were observed avoiding customers, etc. They need to start doing this again. I also know where the break room is in this store having been a former employee years ago and almost every time I'm at this location (the breakroom is just off the lumber area), you can hear all the associates in the break room laughing and jabbering away. Why aren't they on the floor working? Again I've observed this many times at different times of the day. Like were talking groups of people not just a few people on lunch or 30 minute breaks. Are these folks getting paid to just sit in the break room for hours on end? Seems like it. Inexcusable. If HD HQ knew this, heads would roll.

Instead of trying to sell us anything, they put a repairman, Curtis, on the phone. After what I told him about the refrigerator, he diagnosed it and told me he'd order the part and have it installed in a couple of days. Their service, kindness, and professionalism was impeccable. The refrigerator is humming along for about 7% of what I would have paid for a new refrigerator. If you live in the Mount Vernon, Ohio and surrounding area, and you need a repairman, or a second opinion, come to Herald's. They'll treat you right.

If you are interested in buying what they sell, please give this young couple a chance to sell and service it for you. The good staff will mainly stay the same and will share his goals. We wish T. I choose this one whenever I need to have 1) something repaired/serviced/returned. 2) Need assistance in selecting an electronics item. I have had consistent good service here, where the other locations its been hit or miss. We are Total Tech Members, now called "My Best Buy Total" (such a dumb name change) Its their $179 extended warranty that covers everything you buy within a 2 yr purchase date. Sounds pricey.... Well, its benefited us every year without fail it has saved us far more than 179 per year. I highly recommend it and also recommend this location and staff: Today my appt was at 2:40. I get there, one person(DJ) is helping his customer. I stand in queue, DJ interrupts his session and kindly offers for me to sit at the open tech desk while I wait (so I did not need to stand) they must be able to see me via camera as Bryan Cowee comes out seconds later and greets me smiling with welcoming hello. We discuss my issues with my Nintendo Switch. It has 2 days left of its warranty. (Now thats important to the story). It no longer is letting me use the side controllers when used remotely... the which is 1/2 the point of owning a switch. Bryan examines them. He finds out that the console's lock to the controller is also broken. So the console needs to be sent out to be fixed and then after that is fixed it comes back to the ahop and then sent out again to another place for the separate issue of the joystick/controller. This weird shipping issue is a Nintendo issue, not necessarily a Best Buy issue. Knowing Nintendo is a pain in the butt to work with I ask... but when we bought this Total Tech- rep said if anything happens, anything at all, being it in, they exchange it for a new one. Well now enters the two days left on my warranty. Best Buy now will still replace it, but only after sending it out for repair(bunmer for the customer, but a good business decision, it makes sense)... if it cannot be repaired, it then gets replaced (fair). However, I quickly realize that if this sends out for one thing by the time it comes back to be sent out for the other issue, it's then out of warranty. I bring that up. Bryans is busy truing set up the transaction on his laptop and says. "Yeah that could be problematic, but right now my system to set up the repair has crashed." He asks For help, dJ comes over after he is done with his client. He cant get it to work on his. They go to the main terminal. System is still crashed. They literally couldnt get the system to process the repair ticket. Bryan picks up the phone calls Naag, (Im unaware that he is advocating for me... due to the warranty timing and due to their system crashing, Naag the department head goes to advocate for me to Kumar, a manager and in less than a few minutes Naag comes over with a big red box! Nintendo switch boxes are RED. It was a brand new Oleg Switch. Yay! Thank you Bryan, Naag and Mr Store Manager. Since they couldn't get the system to boot up and since there was two days left on my warranty counting that day.... They, without me begging, pleading put their customer first and switched out the switch! The entire session from sitting down to product in hand took maybe ten minutes. Not long at all! I have had other trips in where I have been helped by Bryan. He was very knowledgable in those sessions. Those times went smoothly, too. Ive purchased apple products from Naag a year ago (2 iP, fancy keyboard . His helpfulness on the sales floor has been above and beyond. I actually now search him out when I have a question. I recommend this location. They really try hard to help the customer. Also, I recommend the Geek Squad and the new "My Best Buy Total" despite the really long and dumb name.
