We had an issue with our main refrigerator and went to Lowe's here in our small town. Their solution was to sell us an new refrigerator. I wasn't convinced and called the folks at Herald's. Instead of trying to sell us anything, they put a repairman, Curtis, on the phone. After what I told him about the refrigerator, he diagnosed it and told me he'd order the part and have it installed in a couple of days. Their service, kindness, and professionalism was impeccable. The refrigerator is humming along for about 7% of what I would have paid for a new refrigerator. If you live in the Mount Vernon, Ohio and surrounding area, and you need a repairman, or a second opinion, come to Herald's. They'll treat you right. read more

We just experienced the finest customer service that we have ever had. We bought a refurbished dryer at Herald's and probably would not get delivery until the next week. There as a nice young man behind the counter and he said he would bring it up later that day, which he did. It was T. J. Franz and he told us that he and his wife would officially be the new owners of Herald's on April 1st. His business philosophy will be customer service when it is possible. If you are interested in buying what they sell, please give this young couple a chance to sell and service it for you. The good staff will mainly stay the same and will share his goals. We wish T. Stayed at my mom's house from work this morning to help her as her shoulder is broken and she's staying in Columbus. We have a 12 year old broken dryer and, against my advice, she wanted to have a repair man look at it. I knew it would be nearly as expensive if not more expensive to fix than just REPLACING. But, I respected her wishes and told her I'd stay at our farm and wait for Herald's appliance repair. The repair man got here at 10:30am, walked inside and saw the closet our w/d is in and said "Haha, nope. I'm not going to be able to fix that". Apparently the washer would have needed to be moved out of closet and dryer turned 90 degrees so he could access the side he needed access to. He said he was unwilling to do this, said it would be $200 MINIMUM or significantly more to fix, and he was out the door. Probably 2 minutes of time at our home. Unfortunately it's experiences like these that are proving to be the downfall of repairman in the US. Many Americans aren't willing to do the work like the previous generations did. If it requires manual labor- not worth their time. Machines these days are built quick and not meant to last- I think I will be replacing and not using shoddy repair men from now on. I had came to Herald's looking for a washer and dryer after going to a big box store and finding the service somewhat lacking (I can read tags too, ya know!). I wasn't sure what I was getting into but past experiences with locally run places usually results in tremendous service and knowledgable staff and Herald's is no different. While I do not remember the name of the man who sold me a new washer and dryer, he had been selling washers and dryers for 30+ years. He was able to answer questions that my fiance had and point us toward a washer and dryer that met our criteria. Delivery and hook- up of the units was accomplished quickly and efficiently. The delivery guys were on point and hauled away our old units. They are super friendly and incredibly helpful. Some people avoid ma and pa places sometimes citing that they are more expensive than the big box stores. In some cases that may be true. The washer and dryer we purchased was cheaper at Heralds than it was at a local Home Depot! Last week I ordered a new fridge from Herald's with very specific size constraints due to our weird house. The staff at Herald's searched their database and provided my fiance and I with a list of options. Once we had the product was delivered, Herald's staff called us to see how we like our new fridge. I would, without a doubt, shop at Herald's for all my appliances (in fact, we already have a list of the next appliances to replace in the house). We bought all appliances for our new house from Heralds after comparing prices with the local big box stores. Not only was the price significantly better at Herald's, delivery and installation was cheaper. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, as they made multiple deliveries at our builder's request at no extra charge. Now we're getting ready to buy a TV and once again found a better price at Herald's than at all the other brick and mortar stores. Still struggling with the option of buying online but will probably buy at Herald's even if we have to pay more. read more

Cooling fan in my 12 year old Samsung refrigerator conked out. My refrigerator was purchased from a different store so it wasn't under warranty or anything like that. Called Herald's and they sent out a repair man about 4 days after I called. Service guy fixed the refrigerator and its running almost like new now. The refrigerator was about $1,500 when purchased new and I ended up spending close to $300 to get it repaired. For now, got a running refrigerator and I didn't have to go out and buy a new one. I would highly recommend calling Herald's if you have an appliance that broke down and just let them take a look before you go out and buy a new one (especially if the broke down appliance was pricey) - could save you a lot of money with a simple repair versus buying a new appliance. read more
