Front door/Hours of operation

Went here on a Saturday afternoon around 5 and there were plenty of seats available. We were seated immediately in the corner of the restaurant in a booth which was nice. Lots of food options with 3 separate buffet sections (one for fruits/vegetables, one for sides, and main entrees at another). The general tsoas chicken was a little sour for my taste. The rice was also a little dry but it's important to remember buffets are for quantity of food not quality. Probably the most disappointing point of the experience was the lack of hospitality from staff members along with the ridiculous price of over $19 per person for the buffet which their website doesn't say anything about. Definitely not worth that price range but desperate times during a pandemic and recession can lead to stuff like this. All in all, a decent buffet with fair variety of food options if one is in the mood to pig out!

I eat here 2 times a week typically and have enjoyed all the many entrees here. My favorites are the peanut butter chicken and the mall chicken. The new pork dumplings I prefer over the old wonton encased ones. Much better flavor and way easier to eat. And the delivery service is always hot and quick!

Typical Chinese buffet, probably the best that's around in Eau Claire (that I know of, at least). Nothing too impressive about this place.

We recently just had Chinese at a place that still left a bad taste in my mouth, and plus I didn't feel like Chinese that much, but there is little to choose from around there, so we decided to go there. Entering the restaurant, there was a younger guy in there who had an airpod in one ear, and was talking to us at the same time. He freaked out about every little Move we made, or if we said anything he would be like "HOLD ON, HOLD ON." He talked really fast, and his mannerisms struck me as a rude person. He wasn't that friendly and he was very rough talking to say the least. To make matters slightly worse, the inside was HOT!!! It felt as hot in that restaurant as it did outside. The ceiling fan inside literally wasn't touching how hot it was and didn't cool anything off. I was sweating so much, and it made it miserable to eat. Speaking of food, I had the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice. My husband and I both shared Crab Rangoon. All of the food was really good! What I couldn't get past was the HOT temperature inside, and of course, the attitude from the young guy was the icing on the cake. Not to mention, he was constantly on his phone, had earphones in and he was talking LOUD in Chinese to someone. It wasn't a positive experience except the food, which was really good. I give this 3 stars for the attitude, loud talking on the phone, and of course the HEAT! We might be back, but probably not during the Summer! I suppose it will be freezing in the winter. The food is really good, but make your atmosphere comfortable and your customer service a FRIENDLY one!!

We are partial to sitting at restaurant bars when we go out to eat. The Shanghai Bistro bar is always in need of a wipe-down when we sit down at an otherwise barely occupied bar. We love the food, but when we have to ask the completely uninterested bartender to clean his bar, this gets the experience off to an unpleasant beginning. We've had the same bartender each of the three times we've been there and each time it seems as if he'd rather be anywhere but there. Even after leaving a note on my credit card slip last time suggesting he take more pride in his department, the bar area is still in pretty sorry shape. Shanghai Bistro used to be PACKED on weeknights as well as weekends. Even on a Wednesday night -- which is their sushi special night -- the fact that the place had perhaps 20 diners demonstrates that something has gone wrong. We will undoubtedly return despite these last three unpleasant experiences. We simply hope that reviews such as this one will reach the eyes of those who need to read them.
