Because this was a trial run on Bob's, I ordered 6 (they gave me 7). So happy, These were med-small ones. Have to admit they were solid, tasty, and the seasoning was perfect. Jumping ahead to today, ordered the $3.00 med ones, again males, another 6. They were as they should be, in my mind. Waited about 1 min for the order to be filled. This is my new "GO TO" crab-house. Customer service is fantastic. All of the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Love the iced-down display case so you can see what they have and prices are plainly listed. They sell fish (I don't know what kind it is), king crab legs, and now oysters because it is the end of crab season and the beginning of oysters. Easy on the lot parking, great location.

When the clerk handed me the bag I was immediately taken aback at how heavy it was so I couldn't wait to get home and dig in. All of the crabs were heavy and bursting with sweet MD crabmeat, the seasoning is on point and the corn was as sweet as sugar and steamed perfectly. Bob is an awesome guy who goes above and beyond for his customers and actually supplies quite a few crab houses in the area which speaks volumes. This will be the only place we purchase crabs from in the future. I actually got full after eating 3 crabs so I had the rest of them for lunch and I am already dying for more. **Sidenote: Pretty suspicious that the couple of bad reviews are written by people who clearly set up a Yelp account to disparage the business, the sense of entitlement shines loud & clear ***

I know a lot of people have issues with people using food stamps for crabs, but I don't answer to judgemental strangers who think they're better than "the poors." I don't tell anyone how to spend their money. That's just none of anyone's business. They needed an hour to steam. It was the weekend, Father's day weekend at that, so I'm sure they were busy. The crabs were huge and full. However, I find that the seasoning is a bit bland. I have been told that they make their own seasoning blend. I added salt. I feel like it wasn't spicy enough. I never thought I'd have an opinion about seafood seasoning, but I prefer classic Old Bay or J.O. However, the meat was sweet, and thoroughly enjoyable. Craving satisfied. At least for now.

Everything went very smoothly from the ordering to the pick up. The crabs were heavy and very flavorful. We really like the large amount of crab spice they use - no cutting corners here! It's a cute white house located in the middle of Essex on Eastern. They only have carry out and you have to walk up to the right side of the house where the window is for the pick up. There are many times I'm disappointed when ordering crabs b/c something is wrong (crabs are light, missing crabs, crabs are double steamed) but I know Steamin' Demons is the place to go for hot, fresh crabs!

I suspect Captain Jim runs his ships all the same, no matter where they are located, so I'll put it here - but if the Captain is still in the same spot next year, I'll start the new Yelp page then. My grandfather lived in Dundalk all his life, and he was a tremendously important person in my life. He passed some time ago and is buried at... one of those cemeteries on German Hill, right across the street from Captain Jim's. I like to visit him on his birthday, and Christmas if I have the chance. This year would have been his 99th birthday. I put a box of Butterfinger candies on his headstone because they were his favorite, and decided that I would get some steamed crabs in his honor because they were also one of his favorite things (and I had the money). We were originally going to get the crabs somewhere else, but figured, 'hey, Captain Jim's is right here. Why not give them a try?' We weren't disappointed. It took about 20 minutes for them to freshly steam 3 dozen small males, and a pound of shrimp for us. It wasn't much more than $50 (which is what I had on hand from my grandmother, who has been without my grandfather for at least 15 years now). The scent of the (I'm guessing) J.O2 seasoning filled our van, and the steam from the crabs actually fogged our windows. I spent about 8 hours picking crabs. I find the activity so calming, and could do it all the time if my arthritic elbows and shoulders didn't throw an absolute fit the next day. The crabs were delicious and made me happy, and isn't that the point? We got two different butters to dip the crab in, but that's not really my thing. My boyfriend said that the plain butter tasted woody, and he didn't like that, but the garlic butter was a hit and he has used the leftover butter to make at least one dinner so far. The shrimp were lovely, and came with cocktail sauce, and steamed onions because what's the point of steamed shrimp if not to get some onions as well? I think we did right by my grandfather. Both had so much potential because the crab meat itself was nice, lump, and delicious, and the seafood had great flavor. However, whatever sauce or mixture they use had a strange taste to me--almost like an excessive amount of mayo or Miracle Whip. It completely overpowered the seafood. I only had a bite or two before I was done. I also wasn't a fan of the "seat yourself" setup. We sat down and waited about 5-10 minutes before someone finally came over and said, "Sorry, I didn't know y'all were my table." I think having a better system for assigning tables would make the experience run much more smoothly. Overall, I definitely wouldn't say I'd never go back because those crabs were DELICIOUS! But am I rushing to get back? Probably not. If I do return, I'm sticking with the crabs!
