LOVE the cookies!!!!!!!! The chocolate chip and mudslide are my favorites. I tried their chocolate chip cookie mix which I thought was very good. read more

Love the ice cream and chocolates. They were out of my favorite though...chocolate covered orange peels. It looks like they moved from their original location or they expanded, it has been around a decade since I had last visited. The flourless chocolate cake was outstanding, highly recommend read more

I hate to give such a poor review because I love this store and it's location but this review Is primarily targeted at the customer service. I come from long island and came to DUMBO with out of town guests. After dinner I was so excited to take them to one of my favorite dessert places in the area. Well aware that the store closes at 6pm, my guests and I walked into the store at 530. The staff was already clearing the place and counting the cash out of the drawers. Mind you, there were still a handful of guests in the store. One of my favorite flavors of Jacques Torress is wicked and i was disappointed that I couldn't have wicked hot chocolate because yes, the staff had already closed the bar! I even watched them literally shoo away customers. The store was lights off and locked at 6pm sharp. I think the worst part is that they were all chatting about how much they all wanted to go home AND EVEN WERE TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY WERE ALL GOING TO PLAN TO DENY THIS EVER HAPPENED- if management ever asked. I hate writing negative reviews, but I would hate for people to believe all of NY is so unwelcoming like this. Also, a note to the staff- I've worked in both the hospitality industry And the retail industry. I understand the long days and what it feels like to count down the minutes and seconds until you go home. But this is NY. If y'all can't make it in a cookie store, idk how you'll make it in this city. Note: I came on Sunday, December 3. read more

Stumbled upon this place on our way to dinner and loved it. The dark chocolate covered blueberries are delicious. The earl grey chocolate is life changing. You need to try it. So so good. I also loved the raspberry filled chocolate. read more

This is a crowded, hyped chocolatier, which serves an amazing hot chocolate. It's super-thick and super-rich, but not too sweet for its own good. While the hot chocolate lives up to the hype, the truffles, while still super delicious, do not. But that's probably why everybody else in line went for the cookies instead. read more

Had a small chocolate icecream in a hand-dipped cone last Sunday and it was out-of-this-world- DELICIOUS!! Best I've had in Brooklyn so far. Maybe our server was generous, but I ordered a small and it was more than enough. Thank you very much. Creamy and chocolatey and extremely satisfying. Can't comment on the other flavors but the chocolate is a safe bet! read more

Jacques Torres is like heaven under a bridge. It is amazing. The smells, the tastes, all of it! They have a large variety of delicious chocolate snacks - from individual pieces of their unique blend of chocolates, to chocolate covered cherrios, to cookies, brownies, etc. The chocolate chip cookies are amazing - not just like a regular chocolate chip cookie. The chips are melted and become more like swirls. I recommend you trek over the bridge for Jacques Torres - then maybe trek back to Manhattan. You'll work off your deliciousness! read more

5 Star Hot Chocolate 5 Star Chocolate candy 3.5 star chocolate chip cookies...some people LOVE them, My daughter and I simply liked them. The cookie itself had a nice chewy texture, but the GIANT chocolate chips throughout were too much... too rich. They are very popular with some, but not up my alley. Worth checking out if you are in DUMBO, or any of his other locations... read more

An upscale chocolate heaven. It's pricey but the quality is outstanding. The wicked hot chocolate is so delicious with just the right amount of spice. I enjoyed drinking mine while walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. We also tried one of the warm freshly baked chocolate chip cookies which was a gooey, messy, tasty treat. read more

I like many things here. For a chocolate lover, there's nothing to complain except Hot Chocolate. So, I give you 4 stars for everything else, and drop a star for Hot Choc. read more

This is my own guilty personal pleasure. On a warm-ish afternoon I came here by myself, bought a midnight cookie, and sat in the little park by the water and tried to eat half of it. Needless to say I failed miserably but every morsel of the rich gooey cookie was intense and satiated the hole in my soul for a short period of time, at least. I cant wait to go back and have the mug of wicked hot chocolate with maybe you know...half a cookie. read more

I didn't know this place existed. The girlfriend and I came here on a whim decided to go to the chocolate shop next door. I remember that Jacques Torres was disqualified from Chopped when he took chocolate out of his pocket to cook a dish on the competition. The girlfriend bought some chocolate, I didn't really partake, chocolate isn't my thing. Instead, I got some ice cream next door. The ice cream was a welcome treat. It wasn't too hot that day, but it was humid (not to self, you need to get acclimated to this, you're moving here from California), and I was a sweaty mess. The ice cream was soft, too soft. I like creamy ice cream, but having ice cream significantly melted not even minutes after you buy it is too much. The flavors was OK but I think the salted caramel was too salty. I know, but I think the salt in salted caramel should bring out more of the caramel flavor, not cover it up. read more

If you are a chocolate lover, I strongly suggest you try Jacques Torres!!! The frozen hot chocolate is the perfect treat in the summer and the hot chocolate is amazing when there's a chill in the air! I think it is best to go with a bit of room in your stomach and/or prepare to share with someone because both the frozen and hot chocolate are very rich-- picture drinking a chocolate bar! This hot chocolate is anything but the powdered chocolate mix variety! You may see a small and think you're being jipped-- but trust me, that small is way more than enough! The warm chocolate cookies are worth the calories! There is the perfect ratio of chocolate chunk to cookie and its layered perfectly exposing buttery inner workings of the cookie where it's not too chewy and not too crispy! Utter perfection! I also love taking out-of-town guests here because its cute and they can pick up gifts to bring home! read more

It was hard rating this chocolatier. I loved a cookie (six stars) and wasn't keen on the chocolates. Rewind. I'm not much of a chocolate eater. I love chocolate that's been baked into other things, but chocolates on their own, even when they have marzipan and pistachios or chai mixed in...eh. Actually I want to establish something, I think there are two things better melted: chocolate and cheese. (Ween was onto something there.) So in order to knock my socks off, a chocolate candy has to be phenomenal. There is quite an assortment of chocolates here; you can create your own magical box of decent chocolate bon bons. They also offer small bags of chocolate covered cornflakes or cheerios. One guy was buying them out of chocolate covered macadamia nuts that were lightly dusted in powdered sugar. He had a basket full of fifteen to twenty bags. At around $9 a bag - wow! There were also chocolate bars - one with ginger. None of these were really speaking to me. However. When I saw the Mudslide cookie, my eyes got big and I may have drooled a bit - don't take me out in public. I got a couple. One for me and one for a cookie gift assortment. The cookies crumbled a bit, but really I didn't care. I think it may have been due to the strata of melted chocolate. Dark chocolate upon dark chocolate with walnuts. There was no way I would have been able to finish one in a single go. As a wiser person often says to me after he's eaten a Rockefeller-rich dessert, "GRETCHEN, I'm seeing spots! Is the room spinning?" Yes wise man, in fact I think the entire Brooklyn Bridge was freaking spinning. read more

Jacques Torres creations are habit-forming! I was lucky to receive some gift subscriptions to the Chocolate-by-the-Month, and went crazy over the dark chocolate covered cornflakes, the dark chocolate covered pretzels (salt brings out the flavor in chocolate), and of course anything else with dark chocolate. I've taken a cooking class with Jacques Torres and he is truly amazing! He creates sugar sculptures in seconds - pulling colored sugar together so quickly the next thing you know it's a swan. I did learn a pretty cool trick that is sure to impress at your next dinner party: Temper dark chocolate over a double boiler and let cool slightly. Then dip a small balloon (you'll have to figure out which kind will not explode as I had that experience the first time) on the bottom and sides to create a cup. Put them on a flat tray, bottom side down in the freezer to set up. When the chocolate is hard, pop the balloon - again carefully! and you've got a perfect cup for serving homemade ice cream! So good and amazing results. Again - the balloon and hot melted chocolate can create kitchen chaos - so work carefully! read more

The best chocolate pastry cream filled coronets, dipped in chocolate. Amazing chocolate eclairs. Incredible chocolate pastry, filled with chocolate pastry cream. And the hot chocolate? The Aztec is so lovely...just the right hint of heat. This was my Saturday AM stopped when I lived in Fort Greene. There's nothing like it in Chicago. I miss you Jacques. read more

At the recommendation of my NYC living, Yelper extraordinaire Platonic Life Partner in Crime, the boyfriend and I hiked across the Brooklyn Bridge in 90 degree weather with 100% humidity to check out DUMBO, but more directly, Jacques Torres. What a worthy trek it was. The ice cream was delicious and enjoyable with each bite we had every step around the blocks of this burgeoning neighborhood. read more

Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich Huge. That is the sandwich in a nutshell! I was only able to eat a couple bites after having the pizza, but it sure was good! Rich creamy chocolate ice cream nestled between two chocolatey chip cookies, it was everything an ice cream sandwich should be. It will definitely last for a few servings, but it sure was tasty! read more

I recently had the distinct pleasure of devouring a Jacques Torres hazelnut ice cream sandwich. It was the most delicious thing I have ever had in my mouth. Ever! At first, I thought $5 was a little too much for an ice cream sandwich but after just a couple of bites I realized that it was well worth it. In the block or two it took me to eat the whole thing I had trouble carrying on a conversation or concentration on anything but the subtly flavored hazelnut ice cream between two scrumptious chocolate chip cookies. The shop, itself, is on the tiny side and the layout isn't particularly friendly toward turnover and moving about so I ended up cutting and being cut in line amongst all the confusion. I deducted one star because the four employees did a poor job of handling the customers and keeping the line moving. I'm not sure if it was their fault or something intrinsically wrong with the shop, but I think it could have been avoided. I just kinda threw money at the cashier and got out of there as fast as I could. But all was forgiven and forgotten as soon as I had my first taste of that ice cream sandwich. read more

My boyfriend and I had just split a cookie from the bakery next door when we noticed a sign outside advertising ice cream. The moment I realized that it was a Jacques Torres ice cream shop, I was so disappointed that I had just had a cookie instead of indulging in some ice cream. Not one for self-punishment or self-control, I ordered some ice cream anyway. There was no line on at all (on a Sunday afternoon). I tried the coffee and the peanut butter chocolate chip before ordering, but wasn't impressed by either. The coffee was too strong on the coffee and the peanut butter was just rather plain-tasting. I opted for a scoop of strawberry. It was a pretty big scoop, I must say, and it cost me $3.58. Not horrible for this kind of treat. The ice cream was really nothing to write home about. It didn't taste particularly fresh or like fresh strawberries were used in its making. It was definitely creamy and very smooth, but nothing special. I'd come back again to try an ice cream sandwich or the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I can imagine either of those would probably be better than what I got. The toppings also looked pretty good, too. read more

Jaques Torres makes one of the best chocolate chip cookies on earth, they are one of my favorites (currently awaiting a head to head battle with city bakery). The hot chocolate is also amazing, either regular or wicked (this is also in a battle with city bakery for the title of best). I'm pretty much a chocaholic so how can you go wrong here. Everything is top notch. Oh and I just found out there is ice cream too can't wait to try that. read more

I don't particularly like Jacques Torres's truffles. There I said it. I really didn't even like their cookies when I tried them the first time either. Then on a very magical day, my coworker invited me to get warm cookies. What a difference! Melty and messy and unforgettable. This is the way chocolate chip cookies should be:) read more

I saw Jacques demonstrate how to make his chocolate covered almonds once at Chef Central. He sounds exactly like on TV, and of course he was a hit with all the ladies. It would be easier to support his enterprise if it was not so far for me. Loved the hot chocolate. Loved the chocolate chip cookie. Almost as good as the Grotto's cookies. Served warm at my request. EC got the wicked hot choco and said it tastes like the one he made at home. Waaateva! Has anyone every tried the chocolate covered cheerios? Also, that brownie looked damn good. read more

There are two solid reasons/seasons to go here: Winter: hot chocolate, particularly the spicy "Wicked" hot chocolate if you can take it 3.50 for a crazy rich 8 oz. Don't get the large. Summer: ice cream, notably the "Wicked" chocolate flavor which is unreplicated anywhere else, and life-changing. $3.50 for a generous waffle cone, same you'd pay at any chain. Everything else is unnecessarily high-priced novelties. Yes the staff is unfriendly sometimes, depends on who is there. read more

I'm not really a chocolate person. Really. But had to try this on a recent trip to the newish Brooklyn Bridge Parks. Had a small hot choc and could barely finish it. Yes it was super super good for a chilly day. It's like drinking a huge bar of chocolate. But I have to say, I'd rather get a City Bakery hot choc with a homemade marshmallow instead. read more

I went into Jacques Torres and bought 11 pieces of chocolate. I know, a little greedy, but I split it with a friend. Everyone who has reviewed this place already has made a variety of a good points. I was not amazed by the chocolates. With that being said, I will definitely try the hot chocolate the next time I go because, apparently, I am missing out. Overall, the shop is nice and cozy. It is set up in way that invites one to consume as much chocolate as possible. As someone previously states, the staff is just alright. Not the best, but hey, I'm there for chocolate, not for service right? read more

On my trip to New York, I made sure that this was going to be one of my stops for sure. Nonetheless, I was not disappointed. Their chocolate is absolutely amazing and I think that was the absolute best that I've had in my life. Their hot chocolate and truffles were absolutely amazing and nobody can rival it. I even bought some extra and a thermal bag so that I can carry it on my flight back home. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend and say that you must try it. It will be an experience of a lifetime. read more

Good Gawwwwd! Had a cup of Wicked Hot Choclate made with ancho chiles and chipotle; hands down the closest thing to making out with Johnny Depp ala "Chocolat" (if you havent seen it, go get some Wicked and rent it). So rich and and warn and yummmm. Just when I thought I died from sheer chocolate delight. I get home and try the caramel corn. Three words: smack. your. mother. uh! so good. go go go. read more

Rating this place based on their chocolate peanut butter cookie....this cookie is not a soft gooey cookie, it's a crumbly, sandy, dry cookie. But a very good crumbly, sandy and dry cookie laced with a generous amount of chocolate chunks! This place is pretty pricey, but worth a try! read more

I may be a little biased because chocolate is my absolute favorite dessert. But anyway.... I loved this place! So many chocolatey options! I had the "wicked hot chocolate" made with soy milk and it was fantastic. My boyfriend and I split a large and the friendly cashier separated it into two large cups. So basically, we received more "wicked hot chocolate" for the same price which was awesome. If you love chocolate, go here! read more

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE. Classic, simple and delicious. And the best is, it's LOADED with their delicious chocolate- they definitely don't skimp on their chocolate here. Oh, and it's sprinkled with sea salt. Ugh- so good. They sometimes have a sample or two out to try. Cookies are only $3 and they're HUGE! But don't just get one- you'll regret it, especially if you have to share. read more

THE ORIGINAL JACQUES TORRES. My family and I visited this high-end chocolate shop while on a DUMBO walking food tour this past weekend. While we have been to the Grand Central location many times previously, this was our first time at the original location. Unlike the Grand Central location, this shop has a few tables and an ice cream section. If you're looking for fancy chocolates, this is your place. It's a little on the pricy side, but you will not find more beautiful candies and truffles. While I am a BIG fam of the fresh cookies here, on this trip I was able to also taste the wicked dark chocolate, which has a very slight hint of chili spice, and the extremely rich hot chocolate, which both made me fall in love with this place all over again! I was also able to find an adorable puzzle heart for my SO for the quickly approaching Valentine's Day. My main suggestion for this shop is to get a bit more seating, but overall, I have no complaints! read more

Pure and divine chocolate ice cream. It's not served rock hard, so it gets to half-melty if you eat it slowly, and that's the way I prefer my ice cream. The ice cream and setting are so wonderful that I'll make this a 4-star rating even though the service is more like a 3. They do give samples, though! read more

My brother brought me here and I would of never found it since it's in DUMBO hidden on a cobblestone street where construction is being done. The store was festive with fall colors and halloween decorations. As you walk in the wall on the right side has packages of various chocolate dipped candies (ie pretzels, shortbread cookies, etc.). As you walk straight in there is a candy case with a variety of chocolate confections ranging from hazelnut chocolate, mint chocolate, to coffee bites. We ordered the chocolate chip cookies, got a canister of milk chocolate dipped pretzels and dark chocolate bars with almonds and walnuts. Everything tasted great and the prices weren't bad either. I've been told their hot chocolate drinks are good, but didn't get a chance to taste it. There is always next time. This is definitely a spot to check out if you're in the area. read more

Ohhhh, how I love you Jacques!!! I wish we were dating...then I might get free chocolate? The artisan chocolates behind the glass case are the way to go! At least 30 different flavors like chai, key lime, red wine, chile, and anything else you can dream up. They also have adorable designs on them, so not only are they delish, but beautiful to look at. You can buy as many or as little as you desire. The nice boxes make excellent gifts ranging from $15-100+. Let's not forget the HOT chocolate of course. Perfect to warm you up and keep you going on a cold day. Fair warning: it is intense but heavenly!!! More like Spanish/Mexican hot chocolate and I always have a huge sugar buzz afterward. They also have chocolate covered cheerios! I am not a chocoholic by any means, but I could visit their chocolate counter pretty often if I lived a bit closer. The flavoring and attention to detail at Jacques Torres Chocolate is perfection. You can taste the quality and artistry...world's better than those nasty Godiva chocolates, yuck. So take your grandma, lover or friend and get some chocolate! read more
