This is a wonderful spot especially for the price. It is exactly as advertised, upscale bbq. The flavors and dishes are what you would expect. Ribs are very soft and have a nice tangy taste. Mac & cheese is stellar and suggest those. They have sweet potato fies so right there its worth a try. I have always found the service to be good, and the atmosphere is very nice. Fantastic and creative food! Came for a beer pairing tasting event tonight and left way more than satisfied. The owners are a couple that are passionate about their craft and very down to earth. Love the vintage gas pumps! Kitschy decor but it was bright and airy and not dim and gross like many sports bars that boast a 'nostalgic' interior. I was totally blown away and expected typical bar fare but was met with innovative dishes that left me wanting to try the whole menu. We started out with a roasted brussel sprout chip appetizer that you absolutely cannot skip. Tossed with what I think is Sriracha oil. We had traditional calamari as well, which was standard, amd amazing sloppy joe nachos with sweet caramelized onions and crunchy chopped pickle for a twist on the classic. Lots of parking in the back, trivia night, happy hour, and absolutely spotless inside. What more could anyone ask for? Would totally make the trip put again. Last night was rough. I had this dream about Weird Al killing a horse. I couldnt get anyone to help me call a veterinarian to save it. It was at a venue connected to this guitar center (my own personal hell) type store. I imagine that the dose of LSD that they put in the guacamole black bean dip was just enough to bring me to that miserable place. Our hourish wait with a reservation was not really their fault, it seemed like they had an issue with open table. My main beef was with the food. My burger tasted like a slightly upscale Whopper with Kraft Mac and Cheese as a side. Which wouldn't be a problem if it was only 2 bucks instead of 20. The fish and chips was another complete disaster on its own accord. The fries tasted like soggy potatoes that were covered in brown/grayish paint. The fish resembled what Long John Silvers can crank out with its leftover fish guts and breading scraps. After I threw up this morning was when I fully realized that we have to cross Jacksons off the list. Another one bites the dust. :( read more

Disgusting food, slow service, rude management! Had lunch there today..soda machine was not working ..only bottled soda I could have was root beer..not diet coke..two of the 4 meals were cold and the both the turkey and the philly cheesesteak tasted peculiar! When we asked for refills on our sodas the waitress told us since they were bottles and not from the machine she would have to charge us. I told her we had to wait for our meals to be re-heated, 2 of the meals were awful and now they are penalizing us because their soda machine is broken?!?! I asked to speak with the manager who I was told left for the day..and the owner was "Busy in the Kitchen"..so they sent the front desk hostess over to us to tell us they won't charge us for the sodas and they will take 10% off the bill...that wasn't even equal to the cost of one meal! There was no apology..no explanation. I have never seen a more poorly run place. Any intelligent owner would have gone out of their way to speak to the dissatisfied customers and try and solve the problem. Just hope we didn't get food poisoning! read more

Stopped here for lunch today and the lady next to me wanted a vodka Martini. They were out of every vodka except for two, never heard of, very expensive top brands. Poor lady just wanted a martini. Maybe someone should have run across the street to the huge liquor store instead of waiting for a shipment. Bartender very inexperienced. She had to keep asking the manager everything. Great neighborhood place to eat. Everyone is very nice and our waiter, Jimmy, was absolutely terrific. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. His service was also excellent and checked back many times to make sure everything was okay and to see if we needed anything. Prices are reasonable and we look forward to returning. read more

They are a craft beer bar that doesn't allow you to sample before ordering. Instead you can buy a 5oz pour.

Was there on Saturday at about 8pm. Three people in my party, including myself, got the steak sandwich, which was recommended by the Waitress. Not good. The roll was soggy, the mushrooms were raw, the onions were undercooked and the steak was loaded with grizzle. Another person ordered the short ribs and risotto. The waitress went to check if there was any left. She returned and said that there was. After ordering, she came back after 10 minutes and said that they were out of risotto. The food took almost an hour to get to the table. We should have sent the sandwiches back but we didnt. On a possitive note, they had a great selection of beer which was ice cold. read more

Came here for my husbands birthday and really enjoyed everything. We each had a craft beer from the taps, i love that they have Goose Island Sofie its my favorite. Lobster eggrolls were a little spicy light crisp just perfect, as an app. We shared the broiled seafood dish and the zuccini linguine with shrimp both fresh and full of flavor. Cheese cake for dessert was amazing. Our server Alyssa and manager Conner were great too! I totally would recomend to friends and family very pleased. read more

Went to Jackson's in Commack Friday night with some friends. I asked to substitute out mash potatoes for cauliflower and they charged me extra. Really? Also, my friends ordered some mixed drinks, a margarita and hillbilly punch. Both complained the drinks where watered down. When ordering their second round they mentioned it to the waitress. Second round was again watered down. When the waitress asked how the second round was they were honest and said they were watered down. Within a few minutes the waitress bought a shot to the table. We assumed it was complimentary due to the watered down drinks. It was on the bill! She said nothing to us about the charge for the substitution or the shot. Weak! read more

The best! The buffalo Calamari is sooooo good. The service and the manger were very nice. I've never had a bad meal there.

The only problem that I have had with Jackson's is deciding what to order. I've been a regular at this restaurant since they opened and have enjoyed countless meals there with friends and family. The food is fresh and tasty, while moderately priced. My favorites are the kung pao calamari, spicy fried pickles, crusted ahi tuna... and make sure you save room for the banana fosters french toast sundae!!! read more

I don't like to publish negative reviews, and I won't be as dramatic as the guy who gave the "food poisoning alert" for this place, but I have to say that my first (and last) experience at Jackson's was a train wreck. It may have just been because of the over-stressed waitress, who got just about every order wrong and provided dangerous misinformation about the ingredients in certain items, but this place was WAY off when six of us visited on a recent Saturday night. Without going into detail, I will just say that the service was down there with the worst I have seen, the food was mediocre (although I will never know if the dish I actually ordered might have tasted OK), and the prices were WAY out of line for what we got. On top of everything, after completely botching our orders all night, the waitress advised that she had added an 18% tip to our check. I understand that places can have an off night, but there are way too many good dining choices out there for me to want to give this place a second chance, especially since they offered no apology at all for our terrible experience. read more

I have not been to Jackson's in about 7 yrs. Boy has this place improved. Came here to celebrate my wife's bday. For a Tuesday there was a decent crowd. Our waitress April could not of been more attentive and caring. My wife's lemonade martini with pop rocks on the rim was quite pleasing. She also said the pear and goat cheese sald was the best salad she ever had. April suggested we order the scallops over spinach appetizer. It was tremendous. Our main courses were so good and filling I could not even finish it. It is nice to know that we have a great restaurant only a couple of miles away. read more

My family and I are regulars at Jackson's and we have never had a bad meal here. The selection available on the menu is impressive and there are several exceptional dishes. The service has always been solid and the manager always makes sure to check in to see how everything is going. I have given this place several more chances since my last review and I must say that I judged this place too quickly. The waitstaff is still great, and the steaks are delicious. The prix fixe also gives you a great chance to save money. The fried calamari is superb, too. The tortilla chips are still stale, though, so don't get into them. read more

We went on Christmas because we didn't want Chinese. We made our reservation through Open Table. Yes, we did have to wait because so many families were celebrating Christmas together, opening presents, etc., which was annoying. But the hostess was apologetic and our waiter was great. read more

This was our second time at Jacksons. The first time was good so we recommended it to our friends and brought them to Jacksons last night. It ended up being a huge disappointment. First, my friend ordered a kale caesar salad and it was given to her with no kale in it?? She questioned the server about it and the server was so rude and basically told her that it was kale, which there clearly wasn't any in there. They took it back ended up throwing some on top and handing it back to her. We ordered another salad without dressing, it came with the dressing on it. Just no attention to detail. We waited over an hour for our food. At one point our waitress came over and told us our food was being plated, after 20 minutes went by and we still did't have our food, we asked our waitress about it. She literally laughed at us and said she would go check. Hmmmm Not the response you would expect. I ordered the cashew chicken and was so disappointed it looked like a burnt piece of chicken on my plate. Only good thing was the beer selection. Super disappointed with the entire experience from the food to the wait staff to the food runners. They have a good concept but very poorly executed. read more

We went to Jackson's on Saturday night. I had never been there, so I really didn't know what to expect. I did think that it was more upscale than it was. To me, it was on the level of Ground Round and that threw me off when I walked in because the first thing you see is the kitchen staging area. I felt like I was walking in the wrong door. Not a very good atmosphere. I only gave 2 stars because of the drinks and the ambiance. Starting with ambiance...like I said, I thought it was more upscale, so I was disappointed when I walked in. I really wanted to walk right out, but I stayed. The bar area was strange because it was situated right next to this open kitchen staging area, so you kind of felt like you were sitting half way between the restaurant area and the kitchen area. When I go to sit at a bar, I like the ambiance of that. Let's face it, we don't go spend $10 on a drink for nothing when we could make the same thing at home for so much less. The other issue I had was with the drinks themselves. I ordered a watermelon tequila drink and instead of rimming the glass with a sugar mix (like the description said), the bartender put salt on it which threw off the flavor and didn't go with the watermelon. For $10, a drink should be really good and this was not. Then I ordered a different tequila drink that had charred pineapple. This drink was so bad that I only drank 1/2 and the only reason I drank half was because the server said it was great and I was trying to give it a chance. The flavor was like "char on crack". It was really bad. I gave it 2 stars because the hamburger was really good, but going to a restaurant and spending over 90$ should be more than just a good hamburger. read more

Don't plan in sitting at the bar if you want friendly service. Went with a bunch of friends twice. the first time we thought maybe the two girls behind the bar were having a bad night. we went again six months later and the same two women bartenders were there. They were even worse. Impatient, never came up and asked you what you wanted. Every time we called on the it was like we were annoying them. The bar would have been empty if it wasn't for us. i have a feeling business is slow because of the attitudes on these tow. We were a bit loud I will admit but it is a bat isn't it? I kept catching the hostess rolling her eyes at us. On the whole there are much better places with great service and better food. We were tipping and ordering so i don't know what the problem is. That's a hell of a way to treat people. I called the business today to speak to a manager I am yet to get a call back. read more

I have been to this restaurant many times with my family. The other night 9 of us went to have a few drinks and some appetizers. The bar was not very crowded and there were two bartenders. Each time we wanted drinks we needed to wave them down or scream to get their attention. We ordered over 30 drinks and shots and they made us feel like we were an inconvenience. It would not have killed them to offer us an appetizer or drink on the house. read more

I had my 50th birthday at Jacksons on Saturday night. There were 65 of my nearest and dearest friends. I was overwhelmed with how great it was. The staff and Howard did such an amazing job. They could not have been more accommodating. There was not a point in the night where I had an empty beer! My friends are still talking about how great it was. Keep in mind that I live about 45 minutes away from the restaurant but every time I go there, I love it. Food was delicious and service was impeccable! I highly recommend Jacksons!!! read more

Oh where do I begin? Do I begin with the rude waitress who told my 85 year old Aunt that she could not open the blinds to let some light in so she could read the menu? The restaurant is so dark, it's actually unnerving. I guess the manager keeps it dark so the diners can't see the ill prepared food.I am a very easy going person, but when I feel I am being taken advantage of, I have to voice my opinion. We were a party of four and were at Jackson's for lunch. Half of us received cold, wrongly prepared food. Moreover, one diner did not eat her sliders after the first bite because the meat tasted "old". Do you think the waitress offered her another choice or removed the charge from the bill? No....just a 10% credit ( a whopping $6.00!) We really would have preferred an apology from the owner, but he refused to talk to us as he was "busy" in the kitchen! This is no way to run a restaurant especially when you aren't the only show in town. You can be sure we will be telling our friends what a crappy place this is and to avoid it at all costs. Decided to stop in after seeing them on the Restaurant Hunter show on FIOS. Great selection of specialty drinks and beers. Was in on a Thursday night around 6:00. Place was not yet too busy. First thing that hit me was how cold the place was. We saw several people move their tables away from the windows because the place was so cold. Service was really slow considering it wasn't packed. My wife and I ordered wine and beer and it took a while for us to get them. We ordered potato soup to start that was good, but served not too hot. I had a seafood trio that was just ok. My wife got a grilled chicken BLT that she said was really good. The menu is pretty creative, and I was excited when we ordered, but the slow service and lack of heat disappointed both of us. I might give it another shot. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night. So many of the reviews are good that I'm hoping that is the case. read more
