They are kind of a hit or miss. Never consistent with taste and temperature of the food. Yes ... sometimes their food doesn't taste hot and fresh. Tastes luke warm and precooked. Not sure why I would even bother writing a review on here when I noticed that the other reviews go unanswered by management or owner. But I will anyway ...tonight started with a very Knowledgeable waitress and that's where it ended. We ordered our drinks, a pretzel and chopped salad to start. Drinks and Salad came quickly but no pretzel . We did not get the chips and salsa waitress promised either while waiting on dinner. After about 15 minutes our entrees came out. We Ordered the shrimp and zucchini noodles and pastrami sandwich with a baked potato. The food was very good. Since the pretzel never came out we asked that she take it off the check! We did ask for the chips that they never brought over . She apologized and brought some over. She asked how things were with our meals and we said good except instead of a baked potato my husband got mashed. She was apologetic and said Sorry I heard mashed ! Later Asked if we wanted dessert . At that point it should have been offered on the house .I asked if there were any pretzel desserts as a joke to make up for my husband not getting one earlier. She took it as if I was asking for compensation . I told her that would be nice if she wanted to make it up to us. Came back and She offered a round of drinks but since we were done eating I turned it down . So she said I can give dessert . When I accepted and asked for the Molten lava cake she said no I can only do an ice cream sundae. I thought that was strange so I said sure bring me an ice cream sundae. We thought about the way the waitress handled this situation and thought maybe we should ask for a manager! I asked to speak with a manager and said no disrespect to you. I understand error happens but it's the way management handles the situation afterwards is important. She immediately made up excuses how management won't allow them to give anything other then what she offered . We insisted on a manager anyway but instead she brought over the lava cake after all but the ice cream sundae was already served (weird). So a round of drinks is about $20 and a lava cake is $8. Ok what's with that logic. We never saw the manager was told he was busy in the back. This was a huge mistake on their part and was never expecting this outcome . It's a shame because my meal was very good. I won't be coming back to Jackson's unfortunately due to poor management ! I guess they don't care to much for their customers . Been there before and I guess if you have a great server then no problem unless food is the issue not the case. read more

The food is good & the service is excellent. It's definitely overpriced for what it is. I would have given it 3 stars but the quaint atmosphere & great service added a star. I had one of their most popular dishes, "Mama's Chicken", which was very good but the quality of the chicken breast could have been better. I heard great things about this place, I was so excited to have a good meal. First let me say the service was excellent, we were a rowdy group of women and our waitress had a lot of patience with us :) Now the food: complimentary chips and salsa- Bland. The spinach artichoke fondue was very tasty, but it's not a fondue. I ordered a pastrami grilled cheese, which is really not a grilled cheese. It's just a pastrami sandwich with cheese on grilled bread. The bread was too tough and dry so I ate it open faced. Really nothing to write home about. The side of mashed potatoes was so gluey and under seasoned. So my two issues are the bland food and also that menu descriptions are not accurate. I see a few other reviews with complaints that the food is not as described. If I go back I'll stick to a burger. read more

I came here to check out the sliders immediately after reading Joan Reminick's silly Newsday article on the recent menu trend of mini-burgers on LI (http://www.newsday.com/features/printedition/ny-fdcov5438114oct31,0,6993024.story). Where I come from, Slyders are spelled with a "Y" and have a (TM) next to it. Regardless, the burgers here weren't bad; ("Roadside Sliders" two mini-burgers and potato-stix fries . . . $6.50). However, Jackson's is a restaurant/ bar-and-grill type place with a vast menu, not a storefront burger joint, as Reminick's article suggests. (The sliders are an appetizer and pretty much the cheapest thing on the menu). This place used to be called the Blue Oyster Grille (no umlauts) and retains the same ownership, (also own Red Fish in Plainview) but aims at being more trendy. Atmosphere-wise, nothing new or special, HDTVs and satellite-fed tunes. . . The bar has a blue-hued, unappetizing blacklight under it, highlighting your phosphors, so wear clean pants if you bring a girl or plan to meet one. . . A cutie-pie/ androidish barmaid, top-shelf liquors displayed, Samuel Adams Winter (in the new Sam Adams glasses, meant to enhance your sensory experience) and Blue Moon drafts, happy hour and late-night specials ($2.50 drinks and $5 apps). Have been to Jackson's many times but this time I was totally disappointed. Nine of us spent the evening at the bar. We ordered many drinks and food. We had two very unfriendly women bartenders who barely gave us the time of day. After a few hours of ordering drinks, etc. we began to feel as though the bartenders couldn't wait for us to leave. The icing on the cake was that we finished the evening ordering some shots. The bartender, never offered us a buy back or any perks for all the time and money that was spent at the bar. I know they are not obligated to do that but it's a nice touch. Usually when you spend an evening at a bar, the bartenders are friendly and engaging. Not so at Jackson's. read more

Decent style BBQ/Steak style fare, food is fairly pedestrian and simple but not bad by any means. Salads are nice, anything grilled here is typically done well. Portions are large and plated normally. As far as the atmosphere it's pretty nice inside for this type of a location, interesting lighting decor, some brick walls and lots of wood tones. We had the Thai chicken lettuce wraps as an appetizer. They were good but a little sweet. We also ordered the Mama's chicken and lobster rolls, both of which were delicious. We had several drinks (5 mixed drinks and 6 beers) at the bar, none of which were buybacks. It was a very nice experience due to the crowd but not very happy regarding the lack of buybacks, which I was advised it was not due to the bartenders but rather the policy of the owners. read more

I put together an event for over 70 people . The bartenders were truly amazing as they made sure my guest were well attended to. After the event many stayed and they stayed open later than usual. I am not surprised, I come here on a pretty regular basis, usually sitting at the bar having dinner. Even during the most crowded times the bartenders always make sure I am well attended too. I have gone to some of the best places in Manhattan , yet coming to Jackson's is like coming home . great service, great food and really fair prices. Didn't even get seated. After having a reservation, waiting a half hour to talk to the hostess who was also the manager, he said "we're behind". Then we talked to someone with a reservation that was 20mins previous, they were told 20 more minutes. The kitchen seemed backed up and the whole place was out of control. We just walked out after 45 minutes. It didn't seem like one person called out, it seemed like 5-10 people called out. Or bad scheduling on the managers part. Went here on a Saturday night for my brother's 40th birthday party recently. Although the party had been booked for months, they were not properly staffed for our 40 person party. We sat at 7 pm, and didn't get our drinks until 30 mins later. When 9:15 pm rolled around and we hadn't gotten our meals, my brother (THE MAN OF THE HOUR) asked our waitress for a basket of bread for our mom, who was getting dizzy bc we hadn't eaten, the waitress had the nerve to tell him no, that they "didn't give out bread on the weekends".....needless to say, that didn't go over well with our family. If our meals are taking this long, the least you can do would be to make sure our drinks were filled....give us some bread to nibble on.. god forbid a complimentary app? An apology to let us know our meals are coming? Something?!?! Our steak was surprisingly tasty, but I can't tell if that's just because I was so hungry at that point I would've eaten anything...hell, I was even nibbling on the bland steamed broccoli... Could've used salt, but sadly there was none on the table. 1 star for the slow service with the NASTY attitude. Jackson's could not have been more accommodating ! With 24 hours notice they took our reservation of approximately 30 family members ( in the area for a family reunion). Turned out 60 showed up. The staff was extremely friendly, provided great service..never said no, and served us all great food! If my family is ever back in this area, we will make it a point to return. Thank you. read more

Never again... We went for lunch there. Started with couple of appetizers and from the 4 we ordered only 1 was nice. BBQ chicken wings we returned because even we specifically asked for well done they were way under cooked but returning them for re cooking didn't help at all... my PIE mussels were the worse ... not washed properly and the taste was like you eat them straight out of the ocean... We got Cesar salad with no dressing at all, the pecan chicken was overcooked and been siting over the mashed potatoes way too much and made the crust saggy. We ordered pulled pork burger and it was with way too much sauce which didn't help the taste at all. Too big buns. You order burger not a bun for $15.... This was my first time here and we were going to enjoy the pre fixed menu. The atmosphere was nice and our server Francesca was very nice and knowledgable of the menu. However, it took forever to get our food. I got a burger which wasn't cooked to my liking (I asked for medium well and it came out rare) and I was not pleased to get the same exact burger back. I also ordered a beer and they served me the wrong one and still charged me for it. I can't say I wouldn't come back, but I wasn't happy with my first experience. read more

I've been to Jackson's several times and I really want to like this place. The atmosphere is great and the place is always busy, but my last trip this weekend was my last. It was that bad. Literally, everything served was wrong in some way. We ordered buffalo wings and got BBQ. We ordered a pretzel that was over salted and came with bland flavorless dipping sauces. And my entree was literally inedible. The grilled chicken was so dry that I couldn't swallow it without drinking water with each bite. Same goes for the sweet potatoes (how do you mess up sweet potatoes?). Then the grilled veggies were so undercooked that they were raw (and flavorless). I told the waiter and he mostly didn't care. I paid the $100 Bill and walked out. I wasn't looking for a free meal, so I didn't argue, but they should have made some gesture. Oh well. Don't recommend. read more

Jackson's has great food with lots of different options to choose from. Also a huge beer tap list. Everything I've ever eaten from Jacksons has been super flavorful and satisfying. We always get the Thai lettuce wraps, the chicken is so tasty and they give you plenty of lettuce to make your wraps. The nachos are also very good. The jambalaya was super spicy and very filling, and the chicken is always a good option for an entree as well. Jacksons is definitely a great place to check out and I highly recommend and guarantee you will not be disappointed. read more

Love Jackson's restaurant and have been a customer for many years. the Korean short ribs are to die for and all the entrées and specials are usually pretty stellar. The interior is kind of dark and the only real criticism is the service can sometimes be spotty. You may have dinner one night and have a wonderful smiling friendly server but on another night it might be a sour brooding server so beware. Upon entering you can see into the open kitchen the chefs do not seem to want to make eye contact or greet customers probably because they are very focused on their work. read more

Excellent food and service. I have been here several times before this but finally got around to writing a review for this place. One of the few non Chinese restaurants open on Christmas Day. I love their three course menu which includes an app., entree, and dessert for $28 I believe (certain entrees have an up charge). I had the French onion soup, skirt steak, and ice cream sundae. I throughly enjoyed everything I had. I also sampled the Asian calamari and everything tuna someone else had at my table, also excellent. Someone at my table sent back their steak for being too well done and it was taken off the bill promptly and another meal offered. I always love the food here but I really felt compelled to write this review more to give recognition to our server....Brittney was excellent and attentive. We had a fussy baby with us and she did everything to try to make it better, we weren't a large party but someone at the table can be a bit nit picky and a complainer (not warranted) and she handled everything wonderfully. Management - please thank her for her patience!! I will certainly be back again to Jackson's for tasty food and great care. read more

My family and I went to Jackson's last night for dinner. The service was awful. Our waitress Susan came to our table with glasses of water and asked us if we wanted anything else. My husband ordered a cocktail. A few minutes later she came back with the cocktail and took our appetizer and dinner order. We ordered two appetizers. Susan brought out one appetizer and left. She never said that the other one would be right out and of course, we never got it. The next time we saw her was when the dinner came out. In the meantime, our water glasses were empty and we were never asked if we wanted a refill. My husband also wasn't asked if he wanted another cocktail. When the dinner came out, I told her that we did not get the other appetizer and she said "Oh, it didn't come out". If she had come back to check on us she would have known that. At that time, I asked her if we could get more water. She came back with a carafe. Good thing she did because we didn't see her again until after we finished eating. She never came back to ask if everything was okay with the dinner. When she finally did return to the table she just asked "can I get you anything else?" This is the worst service we ever had anywhere. I was mad that my husband gave her the tip that he did because I don't think she deserved it. read more

After an hour and 15 minutes we asked the waitress to wrap our entrees which never came out.
