We had the most fun rafting and picking the rafting company to spend my money on was a challenge. I think I spent more than a week reading all the reviews. I was able to narrow it down to three companies, then came the calling of each. They all got high ratings but only one knock my sock off. What they did was pick up the phone after 5 pm and the owner introduced himself and walked me through the process for a family trip down the snake river. He made me feel so comfortable I knew I picked the right person. I give them high marks on customer service and the rafting trip was outstanding I went twice. Wasn't sure what to expect having never been white water rafting and seeing so many other companies in Jackson, but JHWW certainly gives an adventurous ride. Our raft guide Evan was an ace on the water and entertaining to speak with as we went down the Snake River; switching from talking about the local ospreys and bald eagles, to getting us ready to paddle hard as we come up on the next rapids. He also didn't shy away from pushing us directly into the biggest waves which I appreciated. All around a great and inexpensive activity for family, couples, or friends if you're visiting Jackson or Yellowstone that really gives you a thrilling taste of the area. read more

I had fun with Jackson Hole Whitewater on same-day scenic and whitewater raft trips! I was running late on my way there and called to let them know. Jeff, the owner, tried to accommodate me on the group bus but was unable to. However, once I arrived at the boathouse, he personally drove me to the launch site where I caught up with the group. Both of my guides (I had separate guides for each tour), Sky and Tom, were great and knowledgeable. The only downside is that there seemed to be a lot of downtime between tours where we just sat on the patio of the boathouse waiting for the rest of the group to show up for the afternoon whitewater tour. I'd still recommend this family-owned company to folks who want to see and/or raft Jackson Hole from the vantage point of the Snake River! read more

Awesome experience!! They did everything just fine, I don't think they did anything extraordinary, but at the same time, they did not do anything bad. The experience was so awesome that they would have had to really piss me off for me to give them less than 5 stars. I was very pleasantly surprised that they provided the wetsuit and the booty at no extra cost, they could have easily tried to rip people off and charge extra for that, but they didn't. My family and I went river rafting late July with JHWW, and had a wonderful time. My two young sons - 10 and 7 - really enjoyed our guide, Tom. His sense of humor, knowledge of the river, and extensive experience helped them relax and have fun. JHWW is extremely efficient with their operation. My wife and I never doubted that we had chosen the right company for our family's trip down the Snake River. It was my first time rafting and it was an awesome experience. Keegan was our captain, and he was just awesome. He made sure we had fun, smiles on our face, and most importantly he made sure we had a safe ride. He let us know when the pictures would be taken, and he let us jump into the water and swim in the river at a couple points where the depth and flow of water was low and where it was safe to swim. read more

We took the afternoon trip with the rapids option as part of a package with our tour to Grand Teton National Park. Make sure to wear a bathing suit/surf/tankini top & board short bottoms to this event, and bring flip flops and a thirsty towel to leave on the bus...a reclaimed school bus takes you to where their staff launch the rafts...felt like camp! So great! There is a changing area post rafting tour, but I chose to wear board shorts and surf top home on the bus and shower at the Lodge. One has the option of either. We ate the provided lunch and then were given the option of wet suit (do wear the wet suit top! The river water is chilly!!). The level of rapids was II - III, perfect for a beginner but still a pretty cool thrill and opportunity to learn the local history during the quiet "float" time on the Snake River provided by Tristan, a really fabulous guide. The backdrop was spectacular and such a beautiful way to see this part of beautiful Wyoming. Listen to the river while you're floating between the rapids...it's unbelievable. Highly recommend this company. Please be kind, do the right thing, and TIP your raft guide!...I watched many people neglect to do this and felt so badly for the staff. The staff and locals pay very high rent to live in Jackson and are probably struggling financially, in school and/or paying student loans! If you truly enjoyed your raft tour and can offer your appreciation, this goes a long way for your guides. read more

So much fun rafting today on the 10:30 trip! All the workers were super nice, and we loved our guide Tristan. Easy instructions on what to do, and good conversation with all the groups in our raft. It was a ton of fun, but prepared to get wet. With the temperature in the mid-70s and a sunny sky, it isn't a problem and you'll warm up quickly. Definitely recommend. read more

Me and my 8 year old daughter went on the Whitewater trip this past Wednesday. About 10 miles into to shuttle bus trip provided by Jackson Hole Whitewater the bus crashed into the side of the bridge in a construction zone. Thankfully no one was hurt, but definitely rattled the nerves of all the passengers as the entire passenger side of the bus was destroyed. We all waited on the bus on the side of the road for about an hour until another bus showed up and transferred everyone to the replacement bus. Other than a couple of apologies, nothing else was offered to make up for the near disaster. I hate to think what would have happened if one or more of the tires blew out in the impact causing the bus to roll over off of the bridge or into oncoming traffic. I was expecting at least a refund or credit of some sort on a future trip for the incident at the minimum. The rafting portion itself was good with our guide Charles. Along with the bus accident, my wife and younger daughter were booked on the 1:45pm(check-in at 1:15pm) scenic cruise and they called us at 12:15pm the same day saying my wife and daughter were the only ones booked on the trip so it would be cancelled. They asked if they could show up in 20 minutes at their sister company Barker Ewing for a similar scenic trip or book another day. While I understand they can cancel a trip, a little frustrating to be called less than an hour from their designated check-in time. A call first thing in the morning or the prior day would have been more professional in my opinion. They happened to have an older couple call to book the same trip while the receptionist was on the phone with me so after all was said and done, we got to "keep" the original time. read more

These guys were great! From the bus ride over to the water we had a little guided tour. They were great expediting our entry into the river and ensuribg safety. Our guide Brown was so good with the kids in our raft. Letting them jump in the river and even letting them test out padling at appropriate times. We had a blast and loved it! we had an AMAZING time on our scenic river tour! We had originally booked for both the scenic tour and white water rafting but unfortunately the white water rafting was cancelled a few days before our trip because the river was too low BUT we still had a great time on the scenic tour. We were greeted by Evan at the shop and he drove us down to the river were we met with the 3 guides waiting for us. We ended up with Carl, who we LOVED! My sister, cousins and I are a bunch of jokesters and he was the perfect guide for us! He was funny and friendly and we all got along great! Not only was he knowledgeable about our surroundings and provided great information about the river and all the animals, we just had a great time! He also gave us a GREAT tip on our afternoon visit thru Grand Tetons! we followed his directions exactly and had a great time driving thru Grand Tetons! He definitely made the trip and we will be back and hopefully can have Carl again for our future trips! read more

There are many choices of rafting companies on the Snake River and I did my research and this company came the most highly reviewed. They did not let us down! My wife, kids, and I had an amzing time. The river in the same no matter where you go, but the equipment and the guides are what sets this apart. Ben, our guide, was laid back, funny, knew about local animal life, and made it fun. The boats were great and there was lots of layers available if you needed to stay warm. Bob the driver was great and even grabbed an extra pair of shoes knowing our 8 year old would get cold! My friends and I went on the whitewater rafting trip over Fourth of July weekend. We were recommended by a friend who's a local in Jackson Hole who even hooked us up with a card that allowed us to get free wet suits (So glad we did!). The company offers float trips for the less adventurous. They were understanding when two of our friends had to cancel the trip due to an emergency. No charge for a cancellation if you can provide proof of the emergency and/or they are able to sell the seats within time for the trip. The people working the office were super helpful in getting us all fitted into various parts of the wet suit (there was no need to get the whole thing.) When we got down to the river we realized it was going to be a cold and rainy trip down the Snake. Those wet suit jackets did an amazing job keeping us warm while we made our way through the rapids. The bus driver sits with your stuff the entire time which is nice so that you can take some personal items with you and be rest assured they'll be there when you're done. Our guide Sky was amazing! He was super fun allowing us to take turns riding the bull as well as playing a balancing game in the calmer parts of the river. He was quite knowledgeable about the wildlife as well as various fun facts about Jackson Hole. Sky never made us feel unsafe either; the rules were clear on how to make it through the rapids as well as what to do IF something unexpected was to happen. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this company to go white water rafting and I'll definitely be visiting again. read more

Visiting from California, our party of 5 adults and 4 children experienced both the scenic and whitewater tours back to back in one day. The scenic tour is very mellow, very little chance of getting wet, with some chance of wildlife viewing. We were served a sack lunch while out on the raft which was good. I'm not sure if that was because we were doing both tours or if it was included (my husband booked everything). Our guide, Danny, on the scenic tour was knowledgeable, entertaining, safe, and skilled. We enjoyed his humor and stories and appreciated his toleration of our children's silliness. The whitewater tour was much more fun in terms of action. The scenery was also much more beautiful during this tour. The rapids vary depending on the water level and weren't as scary as I had expected. Our 11 year olds were able to "ride the bull"-straddle the front of the raft, where there was a lot of action. Again, our guide, Reid, was knowledgeable, skilled, entertaining, and accomodating. Never did we feel unsafe or in danger. Overall, it was a great experience and we are happy to have been able to do it while visiting Jackson Hole! read more

JH Whitewater doesn't advertise heavily like many of the other outfitters in town. However, they are easy to find just south of downtown Jackson. They offer great scenic float and whitewater rafting trips down the Snake River. The staff is friendly and the river guides all really seem to love their jobs. Most trips offer either a breakfast or barbecue dinner, which is a nice amenity. They also have lots of wet gear they will provide for free. read more
