My past orders have been correct, the food has been flavorful, and Usually on point every time. But today... oh no, Jack I've been under the weather and finally had enough of an appetite to treat myself, so I was really looking forward to this meal. The chicken strips were cooked perfectly (thank you for that)... but the sweet potato fries? Baby... they were BURNT burnt. Like, "how did these make it out the kitchen?" burnt. I sat there looking at the fries like... "Jack, why would you do me like this today of all days?" I hate to say it because you've been consistent for me before, but this one hurt a little. I was shocked to see the star rating wasn't higher. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Very urban decor with a nod to skateboarding and surfing. Booth or tables. We always split our choices in order to experience two items when we go somewhere new. We enjoyed the Flowerchild salad which will keep me coming back. Perfectly dressed with unique ingredients. The Reuben sandwich was also spectacular with lean tasty and moist meat topped with all the right goods. Friendly staff and a great value. Today was a day to celebrate!! My girlfriend had the car for a few hours and she choose to pick me up and take me to lunch. What a treat. She has tons of friends so she could have easily chose another one, but today was my day. I chose Jack's Urban Eats as it's close to Capital Park and I could have walked there if I wanted to, but she offered a ride and it being 80 degrees out already I couldn't say no. Parking is a pain in downtown and especially near the restaurants. Luckily someone was pulling out in front and we snagged a spot. Unfortunately, it was still a paid spot and the downside was you have to use a app. That was a challenge. My husband has the app already on his phone and makes it look like a breeze. It's not. I miss when the side streets used to be free parking. I like eating at Jack's Urban Eats. They serve fresh, made to order salads. I almost ordered the blackened salmon cobb salad, but at last minute read the sign that said Chimichurri Steak Bowl next to their checkout counter. I went with the new offering as it hasn't been put on the menu yet. The Chimichurri Steak Bowl has the following in it: Chargrilled tri tip, arugula, cilantro lime rice, pickled onions, tomatoes, and sweet potato with fried shallots and chimichurri for $15.95. Two dollars cheaper then the Salmon salad I was looking at. The salad was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. First, I'm not a fan of arugula. It gets caught in my throat and makes me cough. It's also hard to eat as it's so long and pieces stick out of your mouth when you're trying to get a mouthful. It's just not a pretty sight. The cilantro lime rice was a really good touch. I enjoyed it so much more then the arugula. A bite of anything and the rice was tasty. The tomatoes were only a few, but they were really good. I don't recall any fried shallots on my dish or maybe those were the grilled onion looking things. I expected them to be fried like when you top the green bean casserole. The tri tip was ok. A bit on the tough side, it was hard to chew and got swallowed in one bite. Overall I'll order a different salad next time, probably the blackened salmon salad as that was my first choice. She also ordered some garlic fries that we shared. they were tasty, but limp. I'm not a fan of limp fries, I like mine crispy. I usually order crispy fries and they fry them twice or leave them in longer, I'm not sure what they do, but they come out crispy. Timing is everything. We arrived at 11am when they opened and got the last parking space available so we picked the right time to arrive. We were second in line when we arrived and ordered quickly and got our meals brough out to us on the patio. When we left at Noon there was a long line to order and lots of the tables were taken with people eating. They have a really nice patio to eat at, but by noon it's all in the sun. When we arrived we were partially shaded and it was pleasant, but by the time we left the sun had moved into my eyes. There were several other people enjoying the spring time weather we are having. I'll be back because I really like Jack's Urban Eats, but I will be ordering something different. read more

My husband was craving Jack's Urban Eats for dinner last night so we stopped in for take-out. It was pretty empty inside minus a couple of families, but the inside was nice, spacious and clean. We ordered a large Jack's Urban Fries with added Chicken Strips, the Kids Turkey and Mac and Cheese plate and the new seasonal Turkey Brie Sandwich. Jack's Urban Fries are honestly the reason why my husband craves going there and I agree with him - they are so simple, yet pack such flavor. I actually really enjoyed the Turkey Brie Sandwich, but there was a bit too much lettuce for my taste. My daughter liked her Kids Plate and the Mac and Cheese was nice and cheesy. My friends were hyping up the steak salad at Jack Urban Eats so much that my friend and I haaaad to try it out ourselves and see what was up! We arrived around 6:20pm on a Wednesday night, sat down, and got our food within 10 minutes! I did the build your own salad and I got: mixed greens, roasted corn, cucumber, croutons, bleu cheese, oranges, and red onion with tri-tip and balsamic vinaigrette. I was craving a salad for a while and this definitely hit the spotttt! I was a bit iffy the first bite since i rarely get balsamic (i'm usually a ranch or caesar girlie) but it just got better and better and my friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed our salad!! I was kind of disappointed.The burger tastes like gas from the grill. I prefer hamburgers cooked on a griddle and not gas flame. This location is all right. Parking can be a little tricky being that it's downtown. You should be able to find street parking, of course you have to pay for it at all times now. Maybe it's because of this location that it's tends to get busier. The service is decent enough and there's an available seating inside and outside. I do find this location a little bit smaller compared to the Loehmann's plaza one. Every time I've been here the food tasted good. For the umpteenth time my delivery order from Midtown was wrong! Tonight: not a single piece of orange on my Asian chicken salad. It is a main ingredient. Last time: salad double dressed at restraunt. Dressing has always been on side. Salad ruined and leaked in my car. Before that: ordered 2 sides. One came in normal container, which was sitting in the midst of my vegetables which were not in a container at all. Filthy! While in Sacramento, I stumbled upon this place. I ordered their garlic fries which were so delicious! They were fresh out of the oil and the garlic parmesan seasoning on top with their ranch dressing is pure perfection! I also got the harvest salad with chicken it was really a delicious salad with sweet potatoes cranberries apples so good! Came here for lunch with my girlfriend. Customer service was good and the spot is nice. I enjoy the outside seating area. My gf loved her Asia bbq steak salad. It's one of her favorite salads in the Sacramento area. Only issue she has was the salad came out without the meat. So she had to go back in to get the meal added. Jack's is definitely a go to spot for me whether that be with family, friends, or coworkers. They have such a huge variety of options to please any palate. The location is just 5 minutes, walking distance, away from where I work downtown. It's convenient, they're always providing quick and efficient customer service, and their food seems to never disappoint - most of the time. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Half of that outdoor seating is under the shade too which is always a plus! Last week I came with a coworker when the summer weather was tolerable for a change. We sat where the sun beamed on us giving us that much needed warmth after being in a freezing office all morning. I ate the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of urban fries (these are a must!). I will say the buffalo chicken sandwich was meh, I missed that crunchy exterior. If I have to wait 10 or so minutes for this sandwich my expectations better be met. I won't be getting this from here anytime soon. However, this week we went again and I tried their Banh Mi sandwich. This was much better than expected! Not truly an authentic Banh Mi but Jack's is trying and did their thing so I was pleased and would happily order again. This is coming from a gal who isn't a huge steak fan. We decided to go to California; in the downtown Sacramento area to get some food in continuation of our travels in the states. We decided on Jack's Urban Eats in midtown, Sacramento. We got this beef rice bowl, BBQ beef sandwich and 2 regular sodas. I thought all sandwiches came with fries but this one didn't. Rice bowl barely had any meat, so much lettuce, super dry and barely any flavor. Sandwich was dry with barely any bbq sauce and was really small. Have to admit the worst $47 we spent. Anyhow I think we will stick to the LA area and look to try local food and try to enjoy the concert on our travel journey. Do not recommend this restaurant if you are in sacramento, California. Not worth the price. We both forced ourselves to eat the food since we paid for it and didn't want to waste money. read more

He ordered the Steak Salad containing chargrilled tri-tip, mixed greens, crumbled blue cheese, sun-dried cranberries, rosemary croutons, red onion, and balsamic vinaigrette salad. I love Jacks urban fries and their impossible taco salad. Unfortunately the taco salad isn't available anymore and their newest salad, the Flower Child, I absolutely hate. The flavors I do not like and components of the salad I am not a huge fan of. I would give Jacks 5/5 if they still had the salad. Their food is always good however I go to the one in Natomas turkey mashed potatoes to die for - nice pieces of turkey not dry mashed potatoes with or without gravy. Excellent their chicken Caesar salad is very as large and tasty, I always get the ranch dressing - my sister loves their salmon salad with salmon on it. That's all I could say is I have never been let down by this place in Natomas absolutely delicious. I wish they would stay open for Thanksgiving day. read more

My daughter and I decided to stop here and order food to go. They asked my name for the order which I provided. When placing my order I asked for urban fries and was even asked to repeat that item. My goto was generally the create-your-own salad where you pick your base of greens, 6 toppings, a dressing, and add a protein such as chicken or beef tri-tip. While not inexpensive or generously portioned, the ingredients were always fresh and tasty. During my most recent visit, they seem to have changed things where you place your order and pay at the counter - instead of getting your meal, then paying at the end of the line. I had the Sonoma steak plate ($16.75): chargrilled steak topped with mushrooms, shallots, blue cheese and balsamic reduction with a side of Mac and cheese and roasted Brussel sprouts. It's a great alternative to all the fried, fast food type joints that come a dime a dozen when we're traveling through. You're definitely getting what you paid for at this place. The salads are loaded with all the toppings & they have a wide variety of options on their menu. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can build your own salad & sometimes it comes out cheaper that way. Personally, I really like that option but because it was my first time here, I went with the Achiote chicken bowl just to see what this place has to offer. Being a creature of habit, I'll have a hard time ordering anything else now that I know it's super delicious. But... Jack's is such a staple to me I didn't even have it on my Yelp list of restaurants for when I can't think of where to eat. The thing about a good salad is that the ingredients have to be fresh. Especially the lettuce, even a leaf wilted can sour one's day. Jack's has the best at a reasonable price. I think it's due to the volume they serve versus other restaurants. I appreciate the variety and the ability to customize my order. The ladies at the pickup area are so pleasant and attentive. I suppose you familiarize yourself when you order takeout 2-3 times per week. It's ready so quickly when ordering online. Sometimes I'm in transit and my phone defaults to another location, so it's my fault, and they find a way to cancel the erroneous order and make me a new one on the spot without hassle. I always tip. It's a simple, no frills, fast-casual joint -- still, excellent customer service makes a mark and is treasured always. read more
