Tonight I got the new chimichurri steak sandwich ($13.95) and the tri-tip steak slices were perfectly medium rare, juicy, flavorful, and so tender you could bite right through it. I got it without sauce so I can't speak to the chimichurri quality, but the ciabatta roll was super soft & fresh. UberEats charges $18.33 for this same sandwich (plus multiple extra fees) so I'm glad I came in person to support this local business. read more

Outdoor seating at 20th and Capitol under the Sycamore trees in 75 degree weather with one of the best Reuben sandwiches I have ever tasted! Service is quickly ordered at the counter. My work ordered lunch to go from here today. Nowhere on the menu/site does it say that sandwiches come with a pickle and a pepper. So when lunch arrived, I find my sandwich soggy with pickle and pepper juice. I can't stand pickles to the point where I can't be in the same room as them. Ordered Cajun chicken sandwich with mac n cheese , showed up to pick up the order. Drove all the way home and opened the bag for them to give me the wrong meal I ordered. I had to drive back and return the food and wait for a whole new meal to be cooked. I asked the "Manager" if there was any way I could be compensated for driving back and having to wait for my food to be cooked again, she said no that's not her problem and it's not worth even a free drink. We used to have a Jack's Urban Eats where I lived and then suddenly they got rid of it and it was the saddest moment of my life because I LOVED the food. When I found out there was one in Sac when I was visiting I knew I had to come visit immediately. The workers were very friendly. Quick and pleased service. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich (which is what I always used to order) and it definitely tasted just as good. I forgot how sweet and tangy the sauce was but it definitely makes the sandwich. I just wish there was more sauce since it felt a little dry. It also had fried onions on it which was so yummy. It added a nice crunch. The fries were also amazing. But of course I had to get some ranch on the side because for some reason they always had the best ranch. If you had to get one thing here I would definitely recommend this sandwich! I love the option to build your own salad! All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty exactly the way you'd like it! The sandwich was alright, tasty but pretty basic. The staff was kind and our food came out quick. The restaurant is located in midtown so parking can be a little difficult to find depending on the time of day. It's not touristy, but it also doesn't feel local. The food is great and prices aren't insane. I go here for lunch and the food never disappoints. The fries are great and so are the burgers! The service is good. They get really busy, but always happy to help. If you're a local, come on by! Showed up late Friday night and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. We ordered: - Urban Fries - just the right amount of crisp and spice to the fries that made me go from sharing the fries to wanting to eat them all! - Chinese Chicken Salad - large portion with plenty of freshness to make it yummy - Superfood Salad with Chicken - large portion with a variety of different healthy items. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but last night I went in for a "Build Your Own Salad" they had plenty of items to choose from but after the salad was made & brought to my table I found it much less of a salad than it was when I used to frequent this place. They must be under a new owner. The "salad" was 95% lettuce, 2% avocado (which costs an extra $2) and the remaining 3% of the salad was a few chunks of cucumber maybe a tablespoon of mixed nuts, very few scraps of carrot, ... We were in midtown Sac on a super hot day, so we decided to stop at Jack's for a healthy lunch. I love a build your own salad spot! A much more sanitary replacement for a salad bar. I went for a mixed greens build your own salad. Decent portion size and I appreciated getting to choose six toppings. I also ordered a child's meal for my toddlers and they enjoyed the shaved turkey, super moist and tasty. While of course we wanted to stick with healthy, who can resist fires! Fries were nicely crisp and good portion sizes. Not the best ever, but they made a nice pairing with our healthy salads lol. They did have seasoned fries that looked super good, and next time I would give those a try. My 3 year old spilled his water and the staff were very understanding and helped us right away. I've been coming regularly to the Loehmans location since 2019. The menu contains a wide variety and they really do nail it- properly testing new items before making the cut. But most of all no doubt to me is the excellence which the staff does their job. They're friendly, hard working, and I am constantly amazed at the excellence within this group of hard working young people. Always a smile at the register. Now that new to the chain and this location has been my lunch option three times since I moved to the area last July. My experiences have been positive for on time prepared orders as well as good food. This week, I order Lemon Thyme Chicken for the third time. Yummy. The meat is a good portion and decently juicy. The seasoning is not overpowering but not too weak. The mashed potatoes were a bigger portion than I was expecting. The newly tried cheesy broccoli were good. I feared soggy over cooked vegetables as some restaurants have too often. The packaging of the meal to go worked in the plastic container. I appreciated being asked if I wanted a bag or not as more often than not, I barely use them and feel badly how much waste take out is creating. Man. Hate to see places go this far downhill. Trust me when I say give a lot of breaks to places during these times of illness l, staffing and supply shortage. We just drove back from a camping trip, and descended into a 100 degree day. We all agreed that a nice Jacks dinner with veggies would hit the spot. We ordered online and my husband went to pick it up. Let me rephrase that... my exhausted, sweating, husband, went to pick it up. The only reason was he was excited for his tri tip and veggies. Food and husband got home, overall a 30 minute drive. Unpacking his food I noticed something moving under the plastic lid. A large, fat, angry, fly. Claiming his tri tip dinner, and really, his happiness. I called Jacks and they credited the dinner and put our name down for another credit, which was nice and appreciated. Didn't take away from the fact that he now had to venture back out for his own dinner. While he was dealing with that my daughter and I started to eat. My salad was so filled with old, rotten, lettuce, I barely ate it. After picking it out I just felt gross, maybe the fly helped with that. When you see the pictures, that is not artisanal lettuce. Every time we get this place for delivery, there's a problem with our food. It's as if they prepare our order any old way because we aren't there to see them make it. Salad missing ingredients, skimming on ingredients, super rare steak, super dry chicken... They don't follow directions on the order when we ask for utensils or wanting salad dressing mixed in. I love Jack's. But EVERY TIME I get it through a delivery service, it's horrible. So I guess in conclusion, only come here if you're able to walk in and watch them make your food. read more

I'm sorry but I just have nooo idea why people like this place so much and keep recommending it to me. It always shows up on Sacramento dining lists as well but it's overrated in my opinion. Or I'm just constantly ordering the wrong thing?! The portion sizes are pretty tiny but a single entree (plate or sandwich with a side) will run you at least $20 before tip. The steak/tri-tip is full of fatty un-trimmed bits and chewy tendon that make it impossible to eat, and is always overcooked. The sandwiches are so skimpy with pathetic toppings. My cheese steak for example had maybe 4 pieces of mushroom and some old shriveled up slices of bell pepper. Worst cheese steak I've ever ordered. The fried chicken is overhyped. It tastes like KFC but saltier. The only good thing I've tried from here are the fries and mashed potatoes but ANYONE can make good fries or mashed potatoes for half the price. I need to stop trying here because I always end up disappointed. There are many better options in the area, particularly in midtown/downtown where this location is. I feel like I'm missing something but it's exasperating to give them a chance over and over again. read more
