Today was a day to celebrate!! My girlfriend had the car for a few hours and she choose to pick me up and take me to lunch. What a treat. She has tons of friends so she could have easily chose another one, but today was my day. I chose Jack's Urban Eats as it's close to Capital Park and I could have walked there if I wanted to, but she offered a ride and it being 80 degrees out already I couldn't say no. Parking is a pain in downtown and especially near the restaurants. Luckily someone was pulling out in front and we snagged a spot. Unfortunately, it was still a paid spot and the downside was you have to use a app. That was a challenge. My husband has the app already on his phone and makes it look like a breeze. It's not. I miss when the side streets used to be free parking. I like eating at Jack's Urban Eats. They serve fresh, made to order salads. I almost ordered the blackened salmon cobb salad, but at last minute read the sign that said Chimichurri Steak Bowl next to their checkout counter. I went with the new offering as it hasn't been put on the menu yet. The Chimichurri Steak Bowl has the following in it: Chargrilled tri tip, arugula, cilantro lime rice, pickled onions, tomatoes, and sweet potato with fried shallots and chimichurri for $15.95. Two dollars cheaper then the Salmon salad I was looking at. The salad was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. First, I'm not a fan of arugula. It gets caught in my throat and makes me cough. It's also hard to eat as it's so long and pieces stick out of your mouth when you're trying to get a mouthful. It's just not a pretty sight. The cilantro lime rice was a really good touch. I enjoyed it so much more then the arugula. A bite of anything and the rice was tasty. The tomatoes were only a few, but they were really good. I don't recall any fried shallots on my dish or maybe those were the grilled onion looking things. I expected them to be fried like when you top the green bean casserole. The tri tip was ok. A bit on the tough side, it was hard to chew and got swallowed in one bite. Overall I'll order a different salad next time, probably the blackened salmon salad as that was my first choice. She also ordered some garlic fries that we shared. they were tasty, but limp. I'm not a fan of limp fries, I like mine crispy. I usually order crispy fries and they fry them twice or leave them in longer, I'm not sure what they do, but they come out crispy. Timing is everything. We arrived at 11am when they opened and got the last parking space available so we picked the right time to arrive. We were second in line when we arrived and ordered quickly and got our meals brough out to us on the patio. When we left at Noon there was a long line to order and lots of the tables were taken with people eating. They have a really nice patio to eat at, but by noon it's all in the sun. When we arrived we were partially shaded and it was pleasant, but by the time we left the sun had moved into my eyes. There were several other people enjoying the spring time weather we are having. I'll be back because I really like Jack's Urban Eats, but I will be ordering something different.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday. You can either order a pre-crated salad or sandwich or create your own salad. I got the summer salad with chicken and it was ok. I had to ask for additional dressing as I couldn't taste anything on it initially. I also thought there should be more toppings on it. My husband did a create your own salad and it was good for him. Our son got the kid's grilled chicken with mac and cheese and he loved it! It was a nice quick and casual spot for a healthy lunch downtown.
I was shocked to see the star rating wasn't higher. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Very urban decor with a nod to skateboarding and surfing. Booth or tables. We always split our choices in order to experience two items when we go somewhere new. We enjoyed the Flowerchild salad which will keep me coming back. Perfectly dressed with unique ingredients. The Reuben sandwich was also spectacular with lean tasty and moist meat topped with all the right goods. Friendly staff and a great value. The bonus is that they have a plethora of vegetarian choices so you won't have to settle if you're not a meat eater.
My husband was craving Jack's Urban Eats for dinner last night so we stopped in for take-out. It was pretty empty inside minus a couple of families, but the inside was nice, spacious and clean. We ordered a large Jack's Urban Fries with added Chicken Strips, the Kids Turkey and Mac and Cheese plate and the new seasonal Turkey Brie Sandwich. Jack's Urban Fries are honestly the reason why my husband craves going there and I agree with him - they are so simple, yet pack such flavor. I actually really enjoyed the Turkey Brie Sandwich, but there was a bit too much lettuce for my taste. My daughter liked her Kids Plate and the Mac and Cheese was nice and cheesy. Overall, Jack's Urban Eats can be pricy like most places nowadays, but it is a great choice for a healthy fast food option.
My friends were hyping up the steak salad at Jack Urban Eats so much that my friend and I haaaad to try it out ourselves and see what was up! We arrived around 6:20pm on a Wednesday night, sat down, and got our food within 10 minutes! I did the build your own salad and I got: mixed greens, roasted corn, cucumber, croutons, bleu cheese, oranges, and red onion with tri-tip and balsamic vinaigrette. I was craving a salad for a while and this definitely hit the spotttt! I was a bit iffy the first bite since i rarely get balsamic (i'm usually a ranch or caesar girlie) but it just got better and better and my friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed our salad!! Yay for trying something new and liking it :D
I'm probably about to confuse the algorithm a little bit because I'm actually a repeat customer of Jack's Urban Eats despite the mixed reviews. I've always had a good experience. My past orders have been correct, the food has been flavorful, and Usually on point every time. But today... oh no, Jack I've been under the weather and finally had enough of an appetite to treat myself, so I was really looking forward to this meal. The chicken strips were cooked perfectly (thank you for that)... but the sweet potato fries? Baby... they were BURNT burnt. Like, "how did these make it out the kitchen?" burnt. I sat there looking at the fries like... "Jack, why would you do me like this today of all days?" I hate to say it because you've been consistent for me before, but this one hurt a little. Enough to make me side-eye coming back. Jack... we were doing so good. You probably lost me over some fries!
Had an amazing meal here the other day with a friend! I'd never eaten here before, but really enjoyed it! Great service and ambience! I'll definitely come back!
This location is all right. Parking can be a little tricky being that it's downtown. You should be able to find street parking, of course you have to pay for it at all times now. Maybe it's because of this location that it's tends to get busier. The service is decent enough and there's an available seating inside and outside. I do find this location a little bit smaller compared to the Loehmann's plaza one. Every time I've been here the food tasted good. You should definitely check out Jack's urban eats if you haven't already.
Great tasting food. Fast service. Staff are very nice. Comfortable atmosphere. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but worth the walk down the block. $$
If you're looking for a tasty, healthy choice in the Arden, downtown or Natomas area of Sac, check this place out. It's a great alternative to all the fried, fast food type joints that come a dime a dozen when we're traveling through. You're definitely getting what you paid for at this place. The salads are loaded with all the toppings & they have a wide variety of options on their menu. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can build your own salad & sometimes it comes out cheaper that way. Personally, I really like that option but because it was my first time here, I went with the Achiote chicken bowl just to see what this place has to offer. Being a creature of habit, I'll have a hard time ordering anything else now that I know it's super delicious. But... When we're back in Sacramento, I'll be bringing my folks here to eat & this time, we'll try the housemade mac n cheese & the soup of the day! Hooray for options. read more

We came here for lunch today and I got the steak salad and my partner got the achiote chicken. We both got high quality meat and a decent portion of everything. We got our food super quick and there were plenty of tables to sit at. The place was kept pretty clean as well. We will definitely come back. read more

Always love coming here and never leave disappointed ! I absolutely love their urban fries as well ! Service is always great ! It's always clean and I would def avoid it for lunch if your in a hurry. Call ahead or place your order online for faster pickup because this place gets busy everyday around lunch. It's a staple with lots of healthy options daily. Never pass up the Turkey chowder. read more

Jack's Midtown always hits the spot for me. Tonight I got the new chimichurri steak sandwich ($13.95) and the tri-tip steak slices were perfectly medium rare, juicy, flavorful, and so tender you could bite right through it. I got it without sauce so I can't speak to the chimichurri quality, but the ciabatta roll was super soft & fresh. UberEats charges $18.33 for this same sandwich (plus multiple extra fees) so I'm glad I came in person to support this local business. read more

My daughter and I decided to stop here and order food to go. They asked my name for the order which I provided. When placing my order I asked for urban fries and was even asked to repeat that item. We were given a table number and sat down. I noticed several people who came after us received their food so I went to the counter to ask how much longer. The girl couldn't locate my ticket but noticed my order sitting with all the to go orders which had been there at least 10 mins. It's kind of hard to not notice the only 2 black girls in the restaurant NOT being served, just sitting there directly in front of lol the employees, one would think. She sees I'm annoyed and apologized. I go to check my order and surprise my urban fries were missing. I asked the girl and she says oh we must've missed that. How so when I was asked to repeat it twice? Oh and I get home and half my sandwich is in shambles. Get it all the way together! read more

We used to have a Jack's Urban Eats where I lived and then suddenly they got rid of it and it was the saddest moment of my life because I LOVED the food. When I found out there was one in Sac when I was visiting I knew I had to come visit immediately. The workers were very friendly. Quick and pleased service. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich (which is what I always used to order) and it definitely tasted just as good. I forgot how sweet and tangy the sauce was but it definitely makes the sandwich. I just wish there was more sauce since it felt a little dry. It also had fried onions on it which was so yummy. It added a nice crunch. The fries were also amazing. But of course I had to get some ranch on the side because for some reason they always had the best ranch. If you had to get one thing here I would definitely recommend this sandwich! Can't wait to come back here whenever I'm in Sacramento! read more

came here for the fries only as we wanted a snack...they were OKKK...I've had better fries. I wish they were a little crispier but there was sauce on them which probably made them a little soft. just average. Service was good...the lady at the front counter taking the order was friendly. they have a nice outdoor patio to sit at which is pretty shaded to allow you to sit at in the summer heat. read more

Ordered Cajun chicken sandwich with mac n cheese , showed up to pick up the order. Drove all the way home and opened the bag for them to give me the wrong meal I ordered. I had to drive back and return the food and wait for a whole new meal to be cooked. I asked the "Manager" if there was any way I could be compensated for driving back and having to wait for my food to be cooked again, she said no that's not her problem and it's not worth even a free drink. I thought she was super rude especially for giving me the wrong order and said it's not her problem. Even tho the mistake was on her behalf. read more

Whew let's see! I came here after work to meet a colleague for dinner. I had the blackened salmon Cobb salad with veggies and she had the salmon, veggies and Mac and cheese. The salmon was well seasoned, the veggies were to die for and my colleague loved her Mac and cheese. We left no crumbs. Service moves quickly and the ambiance is okay. Perk: free parking in the back. Showed up late Friday night and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. We ordered: - Urban Fries - just the right amount of crisp and spice to the fries that made me go from sharing the fries to wanting to eat them all! - Chinese Chicken Salad - large portion with plenty of freshness to make it yummy - Superfood Salad with Chicken - large portion with a variety of different healthy items. Very good The service was great, they were nice and the food came relatively quickly. The portions were very large for salads that we ended up taking them home for leftovers! read more
I love the option to build your own salad! All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty exactly the way you'd like it! The sandwich was alright, tasty but pretty basic. The staff was kind and our food came out quick. The restaurant is located in midtown so parking can be a little difficult to find depending on the time of day. It's not touristy, but it also doesn't feel local. The food is great and prices aren't insane. I go here for lunch and the food never disappoints. The fries are great and so are the burgers! The service is good. They get really busy, but always happy to help. If you're a local, come on by! If you're planning a trip to sac I'd probably skip this place as there are way more "tourist worthy" locations. read more

We were in midtown Sac on a super hot day, so we decided to stop at Jack's for a healthy lunch. I love a build your own salad spot! A much more sanitary replacement for a salad bar. I went for a mixed greens build your own salad. Decent portion size and I appreciated getting to choose six toppings. I also ordered a child's meal for my toddlers and they enjoyed the shaved turkey, super moist and tasty. While of course we wanted to stick with healthy, who can resist fires! Fries were nicely crisp and good portion sizes. Not the best ever, but they made a nice pairing with our healthy salads lol. They did have seasoned fries that looked super good, and next time I would give those a try. My 3 year old spilled his water and the staff were very understanding and helped us right away. Quick service, good food, and friendly staff. I will return! read more
Now that new to the chain and this location has been my lunch option three times since I moved to the area last July. My experiences have been positive for on time prepared orders as well as good food. This week, I order Lemon Thyme Chicken for the third time. Yummy. The meat is a good portion and decently juicy. The seasoning is not overpowering but not too weak. The mashed potatoes were a bigger portion than I was expecting. The newly tried cheesy broccoli were good. I feared soggy over cooked vegetables as some restaurants have too often. The packaging of the meal to go worked in the plastic container. I appreciated being asked if I wanted a bag or not as more often than not, I barely use them and feel badly how much waste take out is creating. It is understood as take out is most used option while we are in covid times. But it is still hard after years of recycled training. read more

Man. Hate to see places go this far downhill. Trust me when I say give a lot of breaks to places during these times of illness l, staffing and supply shortage. We just drove back from a camping trip, and descended into a 100 degree day. We all agreed that a nice Jacks dinner with veggies would hit the spot. We ordered online and my husband went to pick it up. Let me rephrase that... my exhausted, sweating, husband, went to pick it up. The only reason was he was excited for his tri tip and veggies. Food and husband got home, overall a 30 minute drive. Unpacking his food I noticed something moving under the plastic lid. A large, fat, angry, fly. Claiming his tri tip dinner, and really, his happiness. I called Jacks and they credited the dinner and put our name down for another credit, which was nice and appreciated. Didn't take away from the fact that he now had to venture back out for his own dinner. While he was dealing with that my daughter and I started to eat. My salad was so filled with old, rotten, lettuce, I barely ate it. After picking it out I just felt gross, maybe the fly helped with that. When you see the pictures, that is not artisanal lettuce. It's rotten romaine and a stray chunk of chicken. read more

Don't let the online pictures fool you as when I received my steak salad (looked great online) it had more croutons than steak. I know times are tough but at least try for the customer I won't be going back. read more
