The hours are the winning point for me. Sometimes I'm in the mood to bring treats to the staff. Although Yum Yum donuts are the best for traditional donuts, Jack's is pretty good. You can get breakfast and lunch all at the same location. I really like the coffee. It's either Farmer's or Folgers. "Some pleasures in life should remain simple."

Best sandwiches and donuts, a lot of choices and reasonable price. Plenty of donut and design donut. The staffs are friendly and nice.

This was our first time here and now it's a different time to go in for donuts. I watched as some of people came to buy breakfast sandwiches. I ordered Almond Croissant but I would pass on this. The Apple fritter was wonderful with crisp fritter it's flavor and apples the fry on the donut was perfect. And the old fashion was really delicious too. both with or without chocolate was absolutely worth trying also. I try in go the small business since everyone is trying to keep afloat. Next time we'll try there Croissant sandwiches

It was my first time coming here and it was a good experience. Friendly greeting, good variety of traditional donuts, and importantly, some very good donuts. I got mostly a variety of cake donuts. They were crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. They were all good but I especially liked the cinnamon/crumble. My other favorite was the buttermilk maple. But honestly I liked all of the donuts! This spot will probably be my new go-to!

Best breakfast croissant sandwiches in the area and 1$ for a dozen donut holes. Can never go wrong by making a stop here.

Ice blends are delicious! Croissants are extravagant. Highly recommend! It's a small business so I'd recommend to help them out.

That was a surprise as well. I get there right after 6AM and wasn't sure if they opened yet and sure enough they opened on time. Always a good sign. This plaza is dead before 10 AM so you will always find decent parking in the morning. I parked right up front. The young lady was very nice and welcomed me as I got inside. I knew what I wanted right away as I always see the $7 breakfast special sign when I am getting my tacos. You get a ham and cheese croissant and two donut holes or Munchkins if you're from New England, And a small coffee. I was in and out within a few mins. The place was very clean and of course has that fresh donut smell. I get home and try the coffee, I'm just so used to McDonald coffee and DD coffee that this was an acceptable 6 out of 10. I gave my wife the donut holes and she liked them and said they were very fresh. The ham/cheese croissant was out of this world. A perfect 10/10. Tasted like it was just made. And since I was the first customer that's probably true lol. It was like a French fiesta in my mouth. It was soft and flaky and the inside was cheesy and delicious. This made the meal!! I will definitely be back!

Then they trot out the nouveau cronut come latelys, the laminated divas that shed flakes everywhere like they're too important to stay intact. But the moment of truth arrives when you encounter the Texas doughnuts. These things are the size of a medium pizza and carry the same emotional weight. You do not buy one casually. They sell their señorita bread in multiples of 5, and the price scales proportionally. They also have some packaged breads at the checkout counter and a display case with donuts and malasadas. I got 5 señorita breads for $4, and a guava malasada. When I was handed my bag of goods, the señorita breads were still warm! I've never had this type of bread before so I have no comparison. However, the fat, cigar-shaped breads were really satisfying while hot and fresh. They are buttery, sugary, and chewy inside. The texture was a bit homogenous for me, but still quite tasty. I had a second one hours later and it was not as nice. I think they would definitely benefit from a reheat if you have leftovers. The guava malasada was not my favorite. The jam inside was more musty than fragrant, and very artificially red. The dough itself was well-fried and soft, even fresh out of the refrigerator on the second day. I love the textural difference of the sugar crystals on the surface, compared to a traditional donut glaze. I ended up scooping the guava filling out of the middle and eating the fried bread. Overall, while I enjoyed the señorita breads, Chula Vista is a bit of a trek and I would not go out of my way to get them. I am interested in trying Starbread in the Bay, to see if they taste different.

He was the only one I knew of in San Diego doing maple bars as eclairs -I'm so sad that I haven't been able to find that anywhere else. Some honorable mentions were the donuts holes, the old fashions, and the crullers. The service was always polite, warm, and familial -this guy knew and remembered his customers, even if not by name. The reason I found out he sold it and retired was because he saw and recognized me walking the pier in IB :D He and his wife were always welcoming, like you were a family member visiting for a snack and a good chat. The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!
