So their cruellers have been my favorite. They literally just melt in your mouth! But this past Saturday there was something off about the dozen I got. It seemed like they were day old and dry. But here's the thing, everyone in my family that had the donuts experienced really bad GI issues. I won't go into detail but I'm sure you can use your imagination. I really hope this isn't the case because I can't find any other place that does cruellers like them; however this past Saturday wasn't good at all. I've been a loyal customer for years but I think it's time to find a new place. We were all stuck in bed for the past few days because of these GI issues which happened after eating the donuts. read more

These donuts are so good and now you can use your credit card! These are so fresh and not overly sweet. Across the street from Bonita HS in the Vons shopping center! But a treat for friends! I love the crumb donuts and croissants! Best apple fritter! Great selection! I have been a customer forever. Love these donuts! Good size, moist! I took off a star since no espresso coffee. They do have self serve coffee and hot cocoa. Starbucks next door. Parking lot is often full but people are always coming and going. Fast service! read more

I was in the area and noticed this place had amazing reviews, so I had to stop by and I'm so glad I did. This is now my go to donut spot! Their authentic, made daily donuts are perfectly fluffy with that crisp, sweet glaze. Absolutely to die for. The owner was incredibly welcoming. We experienced some of the best customer service today. Even my kids couldn't stop talking about how nice he was and are already asking to come back. This hidden gem, tucked next to Starbucks, is the perfect stop to pair with your morning coffee. Plus the parking lot is spacious, and easy to get in and out of. Highly recommend this place! If you're in the area, stop by and show your support! Authentic donut shops like this are rare, and I'd love for my kids to enjoy them the way I did growing up. Miss the memories... If you're looking for a good, no-frills donut shop, this is it! Staff was really sweet and came over to give my kids free, donut holes while they were looking for their donuts of choice. We ended up getting a blueberry, buttermilk, glazed doughnut, which was delicious, as well as a donut holes. We got a mix of all three that were available - glazed, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar. All for under five dollars! Well, I can't say the donut towels are my favorite ever, they are solid, good doughnuts. Stopped here with my 10-year-old great-niece on a morning donut mission before dropping her off at home. I didn't want anything fancy or overpriced - just good, classic donuts - and Crispy Donuts delivered exactly that. The donuts were soft and fresh. While I was picking out a half dozen, the lady behind the counter gave my niece a couple of donut holes on a stick - and then added more free donut holes after I paid! Such a thoughtful touch, and it absolutely made my niece's morning. We all enjoyed our donuts. My nephew-in-law said the apple fritter was really good (just a little on the sweet side for him). Small not a chain donut shop. I usually prefer this type. In the Ralph's shopping center on H Street. They have been consistently nice and friendly. The apple fritters are decent size and nice and bumpy. (You fans of apple fritters know) I've been there a few times and I'm in an out in no time. Parking is usually pretty good. Most of the time they throw in a few glazed donut holes. I hope they don't change their recipes. My number two choice is the raised crumb donut. Nice and fluffy and just the right amount of crumb coating. They have a self serve coffee bar too. I haven't tried their coffee yet. read more

Tucked in a plaza across SWC. I believe this establishment has been here for many years, but i have not paid a visit until recently. Donuts are always fresh. Small shop, I usually go in for a dozen. Easy process, nice people, reminds you of home a little bit, none of that fancy seasonal Krispy Kreme donut stuff. My favorite is the bear claw and original glazed. Everytime I go for a Boston crème they seem to be sold out but that must mean they are good! In all honesty, the people complaining on other comments doesn't really make sense. These are good donuts and hard working people. Go support a local business. I've shown up in gym close, pajamas, work clothes multiple times. In and out easy process. The lady will throw in some donut holes if you get a dozen sometimes as well. They got coffee and a fridge with drinks. Also some boba drinks but I've never tried them. read more

This review is only on the donut holes selections. Since you took over from Julie, I'm disappointed your selection is only glaze. What happened to the cinnamon crumb, powder, and plain cake donut holes. The glaze dry out after 2hrs and then dont taste good. I've been a loyal customer since1990. Believe it or not the donut holes are popular, but you're making it a reason for me and others to seek else where. $3 a bag of glaze is steep, what happened $1.50-$1.75 a dozen? What to improve: make the donut holes more variety and colorful, the children will bug their parents to visit you more often. read more

I visited Crispy Donut Shop earlier today. I have to say, my experience was quite frustrating. I'd always had great donuts and customer service from the previous owner however, things took a turn when I visited today. I placed my order for 2- dozen donuts when the new owner decided to skip over me to serve the man behind me. I was taken aback, especially when I asked why this happened and was told it was "the kind thing to do" because I was ordering more than the customer behind me. In addition, I waited for my turn behind two other customers. Honestly, I found that reasoning baffling. Isn't living by the code "ladies first" the kind thing to do, or maybe that does not apply to people who look like me? I get that the shop might want to keep things moving, but it felt incredibly unfair and even rude. As a customer, I expected to be treated equally, regardless of how many donuts I wanted to buy. I left without donuts as the owner screamed at me thanking me for my time as I walked out the door. Maybe I'll give them another shot in the future, but for now, I can only give one star. He was the only one I knew of in San Diego doing maple bars as eclairs -I'm so sad that I haven't been able to find that anywhere else. Some honorable mentions were the donuts holes, the old fashions, and the crullers. The service was always polite, warm, and familial -this guy knew and remembered his customers, even if not by name. The reason I found out he sold it and retired was because he saw and recognized me walking the pier in IB :D He and his wife were always welcoming, like you were a family member visiting for a snack and a good chat. The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!

I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.
