I ordered their veggie "chicken" strips while I was there. Let me tell you.... you won't regret it! So tender. You can't even tell a difference. I've only been there once but I plan on going back soon whenever I am in DC. read more

My husband wanted barbecue for his birthday and when I searched for places in the area, Jackie Lee's came up. It turned out to be a little neighborhood dive bar, but we figured we'd try it out because the menu online looked good. The crowd had a very... "new" local feel. Pretty good, eclectic music. Our server was great. We had a couple of Moscow mules, husband had the ribs and fries, and I had the bacon wrapped jalepenos with hush puppies. Everything was delicious. Not really our scene, but who knows, may pop for a good drink and a quick bite some other time. read more

Great throwback neighborhood spot that is doing a great job during the pandemic. Highly recommend the party punch and mule kit to liven up your zoom socializing. Well done! read more

Wow, the food here is really really good and I highly recommend. I'm a carnivore and my husband is a vegetarian and we both like BBQ and comfort food, so this place is perfect for us. Tonight we ordered: -Hush Puppies - So good, just enough spice and dipping sauce was very nice. -BYOPlatter - I really liked being able to put together a platter of apps and meat to sample a little of everything. The Pulled pork was very tender and really good BBQ. Corn Muffin was very nice I should have ordered 3, coleslaw was creamy and tangy and really good. -Corndogs for my daughter - perfectly cooked and a really nice vegetarian option. -Fries - crinkle fries - so classic we loved these. -Jackfruit pulled BBQ sandwich - my husband ordered this and really liked it and said he'd get it again next time. It was sweet and spicy and well-balanced. A Very large sandwich too. I've tried BBQ all over DC and I think the pulled pork here was better than Rocklands or Hill Country and the price was way better. The customer service was excellent. The bartender took our order over the phone and she was so pleasant to talk to. She included cups of ice separate from our sodas so they wouldn't get watered down, and lots of sauce, ketchup and napkins. It was a larger order that my husband picked up and they put all the bags in a box which made it really easy to carry and he really appreciated that. They offered to do curbside delivery but he went inside to pick up and said everything was super clean and safe and everyone was masked and following COVID protocols very carefully. They said they offer free delivery to us too since we're in the neighborhood. We're going to order from here again soon and probably will get delivery. The food was still hot when he got home and we ate a ton and still have some pulled pork leftovers for tomorrow. Very happy with the food and service and next time I'll try the brisket. read more

Generous drinks, good prices, delicious brisket, hot not-greasy fries, charming bartender (Robin), friendly patrons and good music. Does one need anything more? read more

Awesome small dive bar. They have a great beer and cocktail list. Good BBQ and comfort food options

Very friendly service. Welcoming. Its Taco tuesday and in our opinion $6 for one taco is a bit much. It wasn't tiny but it's not large either. Six tostones for $3. Not bad. Drinks were ok but over priced IMO. Its obvious there are new owners. Music is lacking and I just miss the old neighborhood vibe BUT....it is what it is. read more

Love this bar and the awesome people that run it! If you are looking for a great place to hang for a fun time, delicious drinks at reasonable prices, and yummy BBQ options, this is the spot! Also, love playing a lil' Mario Kart on N64! Amanda, Nick and Jason, you guys are the best! read more

Really cool spot. Cheese fries were killer and the beer was cold. Staff was very friendly and the music was at perfect volume to hold a conversation or enjoy listening to it. read more

Food is good. I had the bbq sandwich with slaw. I'd order it again. The flavors were a little unexpected but in a good way. The slaw was solid and fresh. The hushpuppies were disappointing. I won't do that again. Hard, not much flavor. The kind they served in school cafeterias. The dipping sauce was nice. The drinks were well made and reasonably priced. As long as the menu expands over time and the price point stays the same this may become a once or twice a week habit. Very solid. read more

Alright, have now stopped in a few times and definitely growing on me! Friendly neighborhood hipster bar in a bit of a food and drink desert. Barbecue (pork, turkey, brisket all pulled) they smoke out back is good but only one choice of sauce. Service is friendly but not the fastest... don't sweat it and you will like it! Can get a little smoky on patio (tobacco and other varieties from dudes hanging out across the street at apartments. If you are this way, check it out! read more

I got tetanus from a mickey's cap, thanks Jason! My hand had to be amputated and I will never play badminton again. It's ok though cause their food is excellent and this is totally the best bar in the city. They have the sweetest tunes and the best people ever. read more

I recently had an amazing experience hosting a birthday party at Jackie Lee's. The bar has been beautifully renovated, with long luxurious velvet booths that were perfect for our big crowd! The owners were so helpful and very communicative as I was prepping for the party. Their food is great (many of our guests ordered snacks as the night went on) and the drinks menu is perfect -- especially enjoy the Tecate & tequila shot combo. Our server Darniesha did an incredible job managing a large number of separate checks and tabs, and was generally just super friendly, fun, and efficient! Everyone had a great time thanks to the awesome space, the friendly staff, and the owners, who stuck around for the night to help with anything we might need. Will absolutely come back often, especially for future events! read more

Really a fantastic bar. Dinner here is absolutely delicious and so are the drinks. I would go out of my way to get BBQ here. It's really one of the best BBQ spots in DC. Both dinner and drinks are also probably one of the most reasonably priced in all of D.C. This place is so much more than just a neighborhood bar. Kennedy street is an up and coming neighborhood in D.C. with an awesome vibe. You will be glad you checked this place out. read more

Do you want to chill and vibe with chill people, to be yourself? Do you want to drink and/or eat great BBQ? Do you want attentive/amazing bartenders that care?... Then come here. In DC you will not find this.. Unless you come to Jackie Lee's. I would give it 7 stars if I could.. You are missing out the fun, if you don't feel the feel. All staff will make you feel like a king or Queen. That is their way. The way you should feel. read more

Omg!!! It's amazing! Highly recommend the ribs and collards!!! Soooooo yummers. I love love love the vibe. Super Dope spot music is on point too! read more

5 stars for what it is -- an awesome local bar with drinks and bar food...the chicken and waffles were a treat w the chili syrup and it was perfectly no frills while simultaneously big on service and attentiveness...sometimes less is more and Jackie Lee's nailed that -- shout out to Amanda read more

Awesome neighborhood bar. Good deals on drinks, and funny stuff like midwestern "cocktails" with cherry juice and Sprite. Also the vending machine is hilarious -- squirt guns, coozies and pregnancy tests. A good spot if you live nearby or you just want a neighborly experience (and a long night.) one of my favorite new bars in the city. read more

Best kept secret but not for long. Ambiance feels nostalgic... you've been here before. Bar setup is great. So many angles. Food is amazing. Try the turkey sandwich with bacon. Brisket sandwich is nice and juicy, toasty bread and a healthy serving of red onions brings it all together. Drinks are decently priced and late night happy hour makes for good times. Bartenders are attentive and genuinely care that you're having a great time. If your bartender can truly blur the line between just serving you drinks and being a real person to you they're doing a great job. An overall fantastic experience that you won't regret. read more

Had the best time here! We are soo happy to have a neighborhood bar, and this was perfect! The bartender, Jason, was really friendly, and he was very tolerant of me, a tipsy 40-something celebrating a big anniversary! The drinks were good and very reasonable, and we made friends with neighbors we hadn't met before. Music and atmosphere were awesome, and I loved the quirky vending machine! We didn't try the food, but I hear it's good too. It's within stumbling distance from my house, what more could I ask for! read more

I look forward to coming back here and spending some time. It was so cool and the bartenders were great.

Jackie Lee's has a cool neighborhood vibe, pre-covid of course, and when you're craving BBQ and hush puppies, this is the place to go. They saved me from food boredom in quarantine with their awesome pick your own appy plates and huge drinks to go. And if you need condoms, those are on the menu too! (for real tho) read more

Fabulous dive bar with delicious food. Great addition to Kennedy St. Loved the music and the vibe the night we were there!

What a gem! This bar is new but you wouldn't know it from the tight ship these folks are running (makes sense because the owners are all veteran DC bartenders). The atmosphere is super laid back, the prices are really affordable, and the cocktails are delicious twists on old favorites. I got the Paloma with mezcal - so good! Do yourself a favor and bring a group of friends here, ASAP. read more

Great neighborhood dive bar. Good prices, and not just for DC. They play good music, the staff is real friendly and cool, and usually the people in there are pretty great too. read more

I want to give them a, "5," but I'm being conservative only because I don't want my biases to overshadow a glowing review. This place is wonderful. Great ambience, solid cocktails, nice selection of beers, friendly (and intelligent) staff and super service. Congratulations Nick, Amanda, Jason, Tigi and all! The jewel in the crown is the food. Go eat here! Peter Kloiber's jalapeño poppers, ribs, and the caponata burrito will knock yer socks off!! read more

One of the best bars in D.C. All the bar tenders are really cool. Reasonable prices. Great ambiance. Great crowd. Its the beat place you can be at. No bullshit. Awesome place to meet new people and make friends. Food is delicious and freshly prepared. You gonna love it here. Definitely gotta check it out. read more

I love this place! I was so excited that this place opened up in my neighborhood, I had just moved down the block and didn't see anything at first...Then Jackie Lees came into my life and I never thought a bar could be my best friend, but here we are. Jason ,Nick ,Amanda and Peter and an amazing bunch of folks. Hard working and so friendly, I just love them.Everyone of them makes you feel good about being there...And the food! Ribs to die for and the crispiest bacon anywhere in town. With drink prices just right it makes for a super nice visit. Also the décor is lovely, relaxing and interesting. Now get up and go before it's overrun buy people from across town! read more

great food (thats some sort of chef back there!), great beers, and most importantly, great people. the vending machine is really a crazy plus-- (go check it out!) read more

This place is a gem. Great vibe, massive bar, easy location, cool decor and fantastic bartenders...oh and they have duck hunt on an old tube in the front. Stands out with classic divey character missing from most DC bars. The crew that owns and runs it are veterans and it's clear they put their heart and souls into everything from the beer list to the lighting. This is an authentic place. The food is on point, none of that five-course-over-hyped-chef-suckling-whatever stuff - if you're looking that, please go elsewhere. If you're looking for low-key fun, with a side of bacon, and good tunes, this is your place! read more

This spot is great. Good prices, selection and a thoughtful menu with ample creative vegetarian options.

I am so glad that this place reopened--not only do they have delicious drinks, but they are actively serving their community by being located in a bar desert. The moscow mules are so amazing. Seriously. Like imagine that you could taste Roy Moore losing the senate election, and that is exactly what their drinks taste like. The bar is beautifully decorated, has great drinks, friendly bartenders, and recently started serving brunch. Just go see for yourself. This is a great place read more

Jackie Lee's has quickly become my go-to neighborhood bar and restaurant. They have a really cool vibe and friendly staff that make you feel at home right away. I have tried most of the menu by now and I can honestly say I haven't been disappointed once. The outdoor patio is dog-friendly so I bring my dog with me when the weather is nice and they also make her feel at home with her own water bowl. Highly recommended! read more

Soooooo good! Amazing "jalapeno poppers" though that doesn't do it justice. Great service and they have NES!

Loved this bar! Great drinks, great food, friendly owners and an eclectic crowd. Definitely my new neighborhood hangout.

I just recently moved here and wanted to grab a drink. The bar is walking distance from my apartment and I thought I'll give it a try. It's a nice neighborhood bar with many regulars coming through. The drinks were great and reasonably priced. The bartender was super friendly. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and fries. It's was really good, however I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw on top but mainly because I'm not a fan of onion. However the pork was delicious and the fries were hot. I'll definitely be back again. read more

I've been to Jackie Lee's multiple times and generally have positive things to say, but our service was close to the worst service I've ever received last night; if it were my first time there's not a chance I'd ever be back. They had two bartenders and were busy because of a birthday party, which, fine, you can be slammed and it may take a bit if you are busy (bar seats are 75% full downstairs for two bartenders, so nothing of enormous magnitude). But the female bartender, after the first of my group of 6 friends walked in and ordered, told the rest of us to go sit down and she'd be with us. It takes a very long time for her to come by, which is still marginally fine but frustrating since the male bartender is serving people as they come up to the bar. Fast forward half an hour, we still haven't gotten our beer, and she also tells a friend she's too busy to write down her food order (she'd just come to our table and still had the order in her hand). Male bartender, in the meantime, has served dozens of people at the bar where we were told not to order, and seems quite competent in comparison. She is spending the entire time running tabs and seems to be very slow at it (said she usually works mornings), but if that's occupying you you at least ensure you get drinks for new patrons if it's as simple as popping a tab or at least let them order from the other bartender. She doesn't apologize after I've pointed out it's taken over half an hour for us to get cans/bottles of beer, and makes us wait longer as she runs more tabs. Nor does she give us better service once the bar is quiet. She shouldn't be working here as a bartender if she can't figure out how to multi-task. read more

This is my new spot. Jackie Lee's is unpretentious, fun and has a great atmosphere. They have casual food that's basic, but good. I MAY have been slightly tipsy when I ordered the chicken and waffles but like most decisions I make when I'm *ahem* ...well oiled...it was a superior one. I had absolutely no regrets. Their cocktails are surprisingly good for the divey lil spot that it is and the staff was friendly and cool. Added bonus is the Megatouch!! Sadly, my younger friends didn't even know what this was or why I was so excited when I saw that they got one of these but I love when bars have games and you rarely see those anymore. read more
