They make it from scratch in the back. I could hear them chopping up the beef on the griddle. They were doing a lot of chopping. I also got a coke and a couple half-smokes to go. There are no tables inside. They have some very high-end meats such as dry-aged ribeye, prime cuts of beef, pork, what appears to be homemade sausage, etc. I ate the cheesesteak outside on the provided picnic-like-tables on the sidewalk out front. There is also seating at a community area across the street and some of those tables are covered. The cheesesteak was extremely hot with tender chopped beef, cheese (I chose provolone), onions, and mayo, and it was a bit drippy. I like drippy. Roll was nice and soft. It was a huge sandwich. They do cut in in half. Half would have been enough for lunch. No napkin was in the bag. I ended up eating half there and went home to Brookeville, then ate the other half. It was very well-seasoned and tender juicy beef. There were no strands of sinewy fat or anything like that. Just tender beef with the cheese and cooked onions. The beef was perfect, the amount of cheese was perfect, the onions were perfect, the bun was perfect. It may very well be the best cheesesteak in the DMV.

When we asked about the delay, he simply said, "It's busy," and even mentioned, "Yes, I saw all of the plates go back." The restaurant was not at full capacity, and there was very little communication or sense of urgency to make things right. I appreciate that the manager removed the food from the bill, and because I've had better experiences with Busboys and Poets in the past, I will return. But my real issue with the burger was its assembly - it was so covered in sauce and gooey cheese that the bun was sliding off before I even tried to pick it up. It was one of the messiest things I've ever tried to eat. And that's what I'll remember about my first PLNT Burger experience - not the flavor, but definitely the messiness of it. He is a mega-leftist politically (I'm more independent), but said he wanted to support a black-owned business; I said that's a good idea; I might do that for dinner. He was doing his own thing for dinner, so I was on my own. So, I looked up on Yelp what was in the area, and I saw just across the border in DC, Oohh's & Aahh's. Staff was nice, and I got a fried chicken platter. As this was Covid times, there was no dine-in. So, I schlepped all the way straight up Georgia Ave 6 miles back to my home in Wheaton fairly quickly on that Sunday as I don't like my food getting cold. I think my food stayed pretty hot as it was well-wrapped, and if it had cooled off, I could always microwave at home. The fried chicken, mac n' cheese (my favorite vegetable...I know not really a veggie but a joke), etc. were all solid.
