Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. On our way to another location on H Street last Friday, one of my colleagues pointed to H & Chicken (H&C) and said it should be our choice for the following Friday. So, we made our way back to H Street this Friday to check out H&C. Let me get to the point and say we had absolutely no serious regrets about anything we ordered. Although we had to park about two blocks from the location (IYKYK), it was worth it. When we arrived, there was a small line. But, it was moving pretty fast. When we got to the counter, the person taking our orders was very helpful at offering suggestions. If you don't want to go to the counter, there are kiosk where you can place your order. The one negative comment that I have about this location is that people who came in and placed their order(s) long after we did, received their order(s) before us. So, I don't know if there are any specifics into how they manage getting their orders out Outside of that, the food was really good. Each of us ordered just about the same thing which included chicken and fish. Where we differed a little bit was on the sides. Just about everybody ordered the M&C. Some of us ordered, french fries and greens, or potato salad, and greens. When you order the chicken, you automatically get a biscuit. Unfortunately, that is not the case when you order the fish. (OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPROVEMENT) So, some of us had to order a biscuit on the side. Overall, everything we ordered taste really good. However, I will say the noodles in the M&C were slightly overcooked, and there were a bit more stems in the collard greens than I would have preferred. But, the taste for both the M&C and the collard greens was on point. The fish and the chicken (including the mumbo sauce) gets a thumbs up. Everything was seasoned and fried well. It is my understanding H&C is open until 5 AM. So, if you're having a good time at one of the local establishments on H Street and it gets a little too late to go to a traditional fast food location or one of the restaurants on the corridor, I wouldn't hesitate to give H&C a try. The only thing I would be mindful of is there is limited space for dining in. So, you will probably have to order, grab, and go. I do want to note one important thing. If you are going to H&C for the Thursday and Friday chicken wing special, the H St. location does NOT honor that promotion. You will need to go to the Hyattsville location for that.
