I wasn't sure what to expect with the new ownership taking over and practically razing the interior of an old favorite spot, but I think we're gonna be ok. We've lost the pool table, but we've got dollar beer. We've lost some regulars after the initial closing, but we've got flame-licked burgers. The trade-offs at this place are alright with me. On every other Thursday they offer bike-night Jack burgers for 5 buckaroos which pretty much outshine most burgers in the area by simply arranging really fresh ingredients with spot on cooking technique. Singer/musician Justin Kleinhoffer was performing at the time and was fine. The drink I ordered was lacking something; I order Jack Daniels neat everywhere I go and this drink lacked the bite; I believe it was either watered down or not Jack Daniels. This place has some awesome food and a great atmosphere. The buffalo cauliflower was amazing. The quesadillas were excellent. The clam strips were PERFECT! (Seriously, get two orders) The reason for 3 stars is simply service speed and cocktail quality. Stick with beer- the cocktails are not mixed well and come in cheap plastic cups. Everything takes a while, but the live music was good, so we didn't mind that much. It was a pain, however, that our server could only "find" one set of plastic utensils for us. We were a group of three and had to share a fork. Now, we had ordered all appetizers, so it could have been worse, but we did have two appetizers that absolutely required a fork, so the three of us ended up passing it back and forth. Overall, this place is worth a trip and reasonably priced, but only go if you're not going to be pissed off by slightly below average bar service combined with way above average bar food and music. read more

This is a fun local bar on old Tampa Bay in Oldsmar. We have our company Christmas party here each year. They have a real tiki bar outside! Out back, I have even seen live alligators sitting on the sea wall! The food here is not to miss. They have a the best crab cake i have eaten. Their blackened shrimp appetizer is very good. The hot wings are also very good. The bar-b-que flank steak is awesome! The staff is always friendly and quick. Oh yeah, they have good drinks too! Lots of locals with big $$ cars hang out here! Went for a late Saturday lunch with my son, daughter-in-law and to grandson's. It was pretty busy and we took an outside table, which was fine until the music started. Then we couldn't hear ourselves talk. So we moved inside. For pub food the grub was average. But the service was below average. We had to ask twice for silverware and napkins. And at least twice we had to remind them to bring us drinks we had ordered. read more

We have been to Jack Willie's several times, it is close to our home and it's reasonably priced. The food is always great (and plentiful). We did go on Dec. 21st for trivia and the DJ was less that great. He was definitely reading the questions, which is fine, but maybe he should read through them BEFORE he says them to the crowd. I stopped by with a group of friends, and I am glad I did. The restaurant is a casual waterfront cafe in the true style of a tiki bar/restaurant. The special tonight was a nice size ribeye with fries and salad for 11.99. Can't beat that!! For those of us that ordered steak, it was very good and was cooked to perfection. The fries were delicious and crunchy. The portion was so large that we took most of the fries home. Others ordered a sea scallop basket, and a grouper finger basket, both considered appetizers, but it was an ample enough portion for a light meal. Another member had a Grouper Reuben sandwich. All meals tasted great! I will definitely go back because Jack Willie's has a menu that is chock full of appetizers, entrees sandwiches and salads that I want to try. read more

A fun place with a great outside bar/patio. Staff are not super friendly to new comers as this seems to be more of a regulars type of place but they're nice enough. The food is your basic Florida menu, fish spread, friend clams and calamari, fish sandwiches and pricy entrees. I'd say the food is okay but the point of going here is the fun loving vibe and drinks. There's been live music or karaoke every time I've gone which for me is awesome. Everyone there seems to be enjoying themselves (customers that is). I've never dined inside so this review is exclusively regarding the bar and outside area. We picked up family members at 7:30 pm from airport and they were hungry. So we headed to Jack Willies for some late night snacks and drinks. Jack Willies is a local bar tucked away off the main drag in Oldsmar that is always lively and very casual. Most nights and weekends you can find some music which is generally loud; once in awhile I enjoy some loud music. The menu offers many appetizers, entrees and different selections so everyone can find something that hits their hot buttons. I enjoyed the patty melt which was prepared well. One of our party had the salmon dinner and said it was delicious. If you are looking for a casual place to have some drinks and listen to some music while enjoying a bite to eat, this would be a fun choice. The outside dining area is the preferred spot for most. But, if the weather is nasty, inside seating is available, just not the same vibe. read more

I have only gone twice this year and the service and place is gone. The sign says due to continuing changes the menu is limited, that sign has been their at least a month. I was told by the bartender not to order the Grouper, she said it was frozen, she said the fries were being hand cut and are soggy. She told the gals next to me that they could not order nachos because they were out of Chill and that they did not have any light rums for her drink. The couple to my right wanted Mich Ultra, they had to settle for Miller Lite (they left after that beer). The place was full of people that wanted to enjoy the outdoors, the people came and the the Ownership is not and has not been ready to care for them, One bartender said to the other, I have never seen the bar this empty on alcohol, as she looked at the sparse selection. read more

We will never return. We came in for our second time as we are new to the area. First time was great with our servers Austin and Collin. Today we got seated outside. It was a bit windy and we ordered drinks from Nicholas. After decided to move inside to the bar, it was like we were treated like dirt by the female bartender. We ordered the calamari and she yelled to Nicholas " calamari " instead of just putting in our order herself. We offered to close out our tab with Nicholas so she could wait on us. She said it's fine. I asked for a water and she again yelled to Nicholas " can u get her a water ". He was busy with tables and probably forgot no biggie. He then walked by tossed the calamari at us and kept on walking. 5 minutes went by. She noticed I didn't have a water. She then yells " Nicholas you never got her water get me some lemons for her " I get my water. She asks if we need the menus anymore. NOPE. Even though we were going to order meals. We ask for tab. She tells Nicholas to bring it to us which he again tossed back at us. She then tabs us out and says " happy Easter ". We were there less than 40 minutes and I have never felt so unwelcomed. How hard is it as a bartender to be polite and get a water ? If it's because your not going to get the tip because we ordered from Nicholas then let us tab out with him first. We have a whole crew who moved here from Maine and we won't return. So disappointed. And we use to bartend for 10 years and I would never be so rude. read more

2 of the 5 of us that went for the lunch the other day got sick. I had the chicken sandwich with blue cheese and the other guy had the taco salad with steak. We were there on Thursday and I wasn't able to eat solid food again until Sunday. Considering the night before I ate at home and was fine all night and day, and I started feeling sick about 6 hours after this meal without eating anything else, I'm pretty sure what ever it was came from here. Ordered drinks and tap was blown. Was offered a round of drinks for our trouble and had to ask at check time for them. Settle for 2 of the 4 drinks. On the other hand the snapper sandwich and the blackened shrimp were fantastic. The sauces and cook on the food was great. It seems if we were regulars we wouldn't have had any issues. Not a bad place to spend a Saturday afternoon. I loved the steamed mussels and the drink prices were reasonable. The place sits right along the water so it's nice to sit outside. Pleasantly surprised! I had heard a lot of mixed things about Jack Willie's. i heard it was a a fun local place for live music but shouldn't expect much form the food. My experience was actually just the opposite. I went tonight to enjoy the balmy fall weather and everything else was a bonus. We showed up around 7:30 and were greeted by a lovely server. We ordered grouper bites blackened that were very tasty. For dinner my girlfriend ordered a Chef's Salad with grilled mahi which came with cantaloupe which was a nice touch. The presentation of the salad and freshness were fantastic. My buddy ordered the fried mahi sandwich with onion rings. He enjoyed it thoroughly. Especially, the onion rings. I had the crab stuffed shrimp whcih was surprisingly tasty! It came with a side salad which I was delighted to see was NOT iceberg lettuce. Yay for the little things!!!!! I also had the sweet potato fries which were good, but needed their own dipping sauce. As for the live music...well...they had a lot of heart. However, as someone who spends a lot of time listening to live music, these guys were passionate but pitchy and off-key. I was far more disappointed by the music than the food, which was a shocker based on what i'd heard. The lead singer was a cross between Gene Simmons and meatloaf. The server told me that these guys are the house band. That alone would make me think twice about going on a regular basis. Change is good. Maybe expanding the live entertainment is something the new owners can conquer next. I'll be back regardless, frequency will depend on the consistency of food and live music. Whatever they did to the kitchen and its staff over the last few years I've been away has dramatically improved the food. The blackened scallops and grouper are outstanding. Appetizers are very good as well, with a large portion of calamari. Recommend for the fish without a doubt. read more

The food was the only thing that saved this review. It was delicious. Had the bacon burger and fish tacos both with sweet potato fries. The bacon burger was huge and cooked to perfection. The grilled haddock tacos came with cole slaw and cheese on them and lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa on the side. They were good sized and very tasty! The sweet potato fries were delicious!!! The cocktail menu was less than desirable ... nothing enticing for my wife, which is rare. They did have some good drink specials/pricing and the food was reasonably priced. Our waiter was a joke - I'm pretty sure he didn't know which way was up at first. But I will say his service got better as the meal progressed. The guys ordered Miller Lite and he forgot about them. We finally reminded him when he came back to take our food order. When he brought the beers, he brought one Miller and one Bud lite. Oh well, we survived. He confused who had what meal and also who's credit card was who's. Pretty sure he needs a little more training and is not so good at multi-tasking. He was able to fix my living social voucher discount that I forgot I had. Bathrooms were disgusting...smelled like you were at an old fashioned hole in the ground campground bathroom. Refused to use it a second time....would rather pee my pants than go in there again as I almost threw up the first time from the smell. I understand that the restaurant is on the water at a marina...but this bathroom is unacceptable even for campground standards! This place was a nice surprise! Very casual, Pecky Cypress walls, table top resin tables, outside Tiki bar. Typically places like this get the atmosphere right and the food is just so-so.
