Our friends live in Safety Harbor and have a tradition of friday night brews. There are so many breweries in the area -- within a 30 min drive. This one is their local fave and it did not disappoint. They have a wide variety of brews -- something for every taste bud. The staff is friendly and VERY helpful because after all one of the things about breweries -- and their beers -- that none are the same. Sure a lager is a lager for the most part but when you get into IPAs, and then even some of the more 'exotic' (meaning not really retail) it always requires a 'taste' before you buy the pint. Some places require you to buy a flight. LOVE that this place is like... sure here is a taste. And you order at the bar so that is easy. I have a broad taste -- like a good stout, the occasional novelty beer --- but usually stick to seltzers The ambiance is definitely local dive brew bar, but who wants fancy. They are also dog friendly, which is always a plus for a lot of people. read more

Honestly just a great spot. We stumbled into it for a post meal brew and wish we had known about it sooner. The "what's up degenerates?!" Welcome made us laugh and when I told the bartender I drink literally all beers his first recommendation was a sour patch kid beer. I don't normally like sour, but I freaking loved this beer. I'm really looking forward to going back and sitting at the bar at I time I can try a couple of their brews. Also, the place was very dog friendly, I made at least 4 furry, four legged, friends while I was there. Good people, good beer, very small and local establishment. 10/10 recommend, at least for the sour patch kids. Please don't know if they have food? I didn't see a food menu but it's well within walking distance of multiple locations to grab a bite. read more

A pretty nice brewery in the heart of town! We got there right when they opened and Alice was extremely nice in letting us taste all that we asked. The beer was pretty good but just not 5-star worthy. I had a stout and my wife had an IPA...both pretty good. Now they don't have much of an outside area. They have a couple outside small tables for 4 and a large table for a large group. That's it. Just not a cool vibe. Inside was much nicer and pretty cool with a LOT of beer taps hanging from the ceiling. Bottom line...in Safety Harbor, you can't pass it by. read more

Our first visit to Troubled Waters was a success. The option to indulge in the best lobster roll I've ever had was an added bonus! This is smaller brewery with friendly staff and good atmosphere. I tried a wheat ale with tangelos which was enjoyable and refreshing on a warm Saturday afternoon. I also sampled a cider but decided to go back to the Tangelo ale. They also sell some merch for those who want to take a souvenir back home which is a nice touch. For a five star, I would like to see more options either on draft or supplemented with in case bottle/can selections, and more fans/ac to keep the temperature more enjoyable in the warm climate. While my boyfriend's parents were in town, we ended up doing a little tour of the eateries and drinking spots of Safety Harbor, including stopping here for a sampling of brews & a round of Scategories. I admit I am not a huge beer fan, but his parents are avid craft brew drinkers, so we almost always end up at a brewery or bar with them when they visit. I was thrilled to see they had not just one or two "non-beers" but actually about a half dozen including seltzers and ciders. I went with the seasonal Cigar City choice; it was quite reminiscent of apple pie & great for a transitional drink from spring to fall. His mom had the blood orange wit, and his dad tried three different ones: Altbier, the Menace, and the Coconut Barrel Aged Stout (the last was his favorite). I believe my boyfriend got the Sandal Scandal; he's not much of a drinker period, but he seemed to enjoy this one. The brewery itself was surprisingly packed for mid-Sunday. The bartender was great at engaging everyone at the bar, but it also appeared to be just her - I was surprised to not see anyone helping her on a holiday weekend, and we were there for easily an hour as we sipped and played Scategories. read more

Having friends that live in Safety Harbour -- a town I had never visited previously during stays in the Tampa Bay area, I figured meeting up with them at one of the local breweries that I also had never frequented would be apropos. Troubled Waters was a good choice, located in the middle of town that is within walking distance if you live nearby. Hearing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel playing in your head notwithstanding as you enter the taproom, the brewery offers a solid selection of craft beers from which I enjoyed a couple of pints. The Beach Peach was a refreshing and light session IPA with a touch of hops and subtle notes of peach on the palate. The Prized Slammer was a delightful and tart Berliner Weiss, with the citrus from the orange and passionfruit touching the palate well, and finishing off with a pleasant maltiness. The vibes were very chill and down-to-earth due to the people enjoying pints at the bar and around the taproom at one of the tables, including ourselves. The brewery is dog friendly, so long as they are on a leash and well-behaved, which the ones we saw were. Their presence added to the good vibes experienced at the brewery. read more

Ended up going here today because I've been trying to go to the got Lobstah food truck for a while, and they were collaborating with troubled waters brewing today. Ended up getting a lobster roll and then going inside for a beer and water with my husband. We both had a few different beers. The Maison, fun police and 4th anniversary. Had such a great experience. Had a young girl with long dark hair and she was a delight, let us try a few things to make decisions. The place was clean, the beer was great. It was such a great spot. Very cool newish addition to Safety Harbor! I hadn't been to this place since they changed from Copperheads Tap House. My husband and I were in the area on a Monday and being that they were one of the only places/breweries open (with outdoor seating), we decided to check it out. First off, they have a huge variety of beers they brew in house, so there's something for everyone--hefeweizens, IPAs, pale ales, red IPAs, pilsners, NEIPAs, etc. The beertender was super friendly and attentive upon our arrival and throughout our time there. They ensured folks were wearing masks and we were happy they offered ample outdoor seating and hand sanitizing stations throughout the place. For our first round, we tried the Citra pale ale and the Hefeweizen. Both were delicious. My only gripe was that the Hefeweizen was not served in the traditional glassware. For our second round, we did the Mandaloridian Red IPA and the speciality Cup O'Kindness NEIPA. Both were delcious as well. We loved the beers so much, we decided to take home 3 packs of their 16 oz cans. The hallmark of any brewery, in my opinion, is solid beer and hospitality. They hit the Mark in both areas, and we actually felt comfortable coming here in the midst of a pandemic. Needless to say, I recommend it and we will be back! read more

Originally from Indiana, I'm spoiled when it comes to craft beer- 3 Floyd's, Sun King, the list goes on. So the florida scene has been disappointing to say the least.... UNTIL WE FOUND TROUBLED WATERS. This place is so legit. They have one of my favorite pumpkin beers (called Jack McLantern) that rivals southern tier's warlock. Their special releases like cup o kindness are also stellar. I'm not generally a fan of lighter beers but they have a sour candy berliner that's shockingly good and true to the name. Even my dad, whose list of acceptable beers is exclusively comprised of "bud light" found something he really enjoyed here. You will not be disappointed here by the beer or by the staff (who have always been incredibly friendly and helpful). And you may even run into us out on their cute covered patio as we are quickly becoming regulars. read more

You'll definitely find a beer you'll like. They use some of the parking lot as an outdoor patio during festivals on Main Street. Really fun, because they pour the beer in plastic to go cups. I know I'm a minority when I say this, but I wish they had outdoor space that was smoke free. I came here on a Wednesday evening with a group of guys and found seating outside on the patio. The beers were quickly served up and were very cold. The bartender/beer server was knowledgeable about the beers they were serving and had excellent beer service skills. I had a stout and a pineapple ale, both delicious. I don't give it five stars because we were swarmed outside by mosquitos and gnats even while a fan was running. I think it would be helpful if they added some Citronella torches or something to help keep the bugs away. I'll still be back, but maybe with some DDT. read more

The one problem with this brewery is US! We always seem to forget about it because it's so close. The beers are legit and I love family owned businesses! Formerly Copperhead Tap Room, the new owners planned to make this a craft brew house .. and nailed it! It's still our Wednesday Night home of The Safety Harbor Athletic Club (SHAC) Training Runs and "Post Run Hydration!" No doubt, this "run club" is one of the best in the Tampa Bay area with a normal attendance of 50 - 60! The electronic brew list is still there with a minimum of 30 different pours at all times! Kevin and Family have done a great job of renovating the room and installing the brewery. He is normally sitting with patrons at the bar, education on the art of brewing. I personally have a better understanding of the brew process and a better tasting palate. The March 10 Grand Opening focused on the first assortment of Troubled Waters brews and definitely did not disappoint! Local catering by Gigglewaters, a unique Safety Harbor "speakeasy," was provided. A good number of SHAC runners represented! No doubt, Troubled Waters is a great addition to the Tampa Bay brewing community! I highly recommend spending an evening with a flight of their offerings! Sláinte! read more

What a fun place with great beer! My co-worker and her husband love TW so naturally it was the first place they wanted to take me. Troubled Waters is in the little town of Safety Harbor. It's a quaint little town that is a great escape from the nearby Tampa/St Pete areas. TW has live music, a large tap list and a decent selection of bottles. They have a selection of their own beers as well as quite a few guest taps. I appreciated the variety of their beers, I hate when I go into a brewery and their tap list is full of only one or two styles of beer. I can't remember the exact names of the beers I had but I had a sour, an IPA and a pale ale and all three were delicious! As for their logo, I LOVE it! Their coasters have this beautiful watercolor image of a sailboat on the water, I wish they had that watercolor image on a shirt (or anything other than a coaster), I would've bought it! I am not in Safety Harbor very often but I will definitely be stopping by TWB next time I'm in the area! read more

We were here once before but the service tonight was much worse than we have ever had. The beer was OK but the bar was very loud. One gentleman seemed to apparently had his volume button broken. The bartender was nice but she was also a little loud. I am used to loud bars and I even worked as a bartender in college but this was overly loud and The atmosphere was not as great as before. If you are going I still would recommend seeing this place once but after that there's not much to look at. read more

Dropped in here the other day because I love trying a new local brewery. Troubled Waters took over Copperhead Tap Room and continues to be a Tap Room and a mini-brewery. I had the NK4 New England IPA at 6% APV. I enjoyed the beer and feel Troubled Waters has promise. They do live music every Friday and Saturday night and continue to be a locals pretty much only hangout. Only time will tell if this Brewery shines with all the other greats Pinellas County has to offer. I look forward to stopping by again. read more
