I should have known better than coming back to this location. Last time we went we walked out because the service and food was so bad (we waited over 1hr for our food). Today, nothing has changed. We had a party of 18 people ( thankfully we had a reservation ) As expected the service was a tad bit slow but we didn't think it would be too bad. When ordering drinks, we had a bit of difficulty because every alcoholic drink we chose they were out of, or couldn't accommodate certain fishbowl drinks for smaller glasses. Frustrated after 3 tries, a few of us gave up and decided to order classic pop, but sadly they were all very flat. Even all the beers on tap we ordered were also flat. I ordered the Asiago Chicken Bowties and they were delicious, although the portion was a bit smaller than other locations I've been to. Gluten-free options are limited here, 3 people in our party who were gluten free went with the steak ( sadly there were not many other options ) Vegetarian Options are okkkk, I would definitely suggest asking for a vegetarian substitution over some of the options. Like asking for the Asiago Bowties with broccoli instead of chicken. This is a regular spot for us. Overall we enjoy coming here. The place has a good vibe and the menu has good variety. They have recently made some changes to their menu and we are not so sure we like it yet but we will visit a few times to give them a fair chance before we decide. Service tonight was great. My friends and I had a small office party at Jack Astors. We ordered a whole bunch of appetizers including Bruschetta, Golden Calamari, Tuna Guac and Chicken Wings. Everything tasted good and the service was great. It can get a bit loud in there especially at night but that is also the fun part. The vibe is very lively and energetic. You also randomly hear waiters singing birthday wishes to customers with a small sweet bithday surprise. So, if you are looking for a quiet evening this is not the place for you. I don't like reviewing restaurants, but my experience warranted a review without doubt. We stood outside for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to seat us in their half empty restaurant. Their staff was friendly and fairly welcoming. Our waitress was quite attentive which is always good. Ordered their "must-try" nachos and after waiting over 30 minutes, they came out burnt. The chips tasted like a bag of popcorn that had been microwaved for too long. We told the server and got it replaced. We had now sat down for about an hour before we got our first look at "real food". Nachos come, not very loaded. The top had been drizzled with cheese and whatnot but everything under that was dry. We were starved so we finished the chips without questioning it much in the moment. Main course comes. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which wasn't too bad, maybe a 2.5/5. Flavouring was good but it was hard to enjoy as the the chicken was dry, and the seasoning sparse. My mother got the thai sesame stir fry. It had sweet and spicy sauce which was hardly spicy. It tastes like it had been bathed in some variant of high fructose corn syrup. Jasmine rice was a lump, where each grain of rice was indistinguishable from another. My sister got the thai coconut curry, which told a similar story as my mother's bowl. I on behalf of jack astor's to the sincerely apologize to the Thai community for the blasphemy they have served. This never usually happens, but as I type this my stomach is moving in all weird ways. No way any of that food was fresh. Chances are it was frozen for quite some time to cut costs. My mom and sister are in the same boat, although I have it the worst from the buffalo chicken sandwich. The bill came up to $80, which I don't have a problem paying but no way was the processed garbage we ate worth even half that. I am not taking my money to this location again, and probably even the last time I take it to a jack astor's. Please anyone else hear my plea, DO NOT go to this location. My wife and I went for dinner with our infant daughter. we got sat down at a booth and the manager brought us over a baby Sling which I didn't even know existed. from there the servers were super friendly and the food was incredible. All around was great experience and staff was very knowledgeable about the menu which I find is a great attribute to a great restaurant experience. The service here is pretty bad. Our waitress was friendly, but I guess she got off work halfway through because she disappeared. It's also very loud in here and hard to talk. I ordered the Korean BBQ skewers and my boyfriend got the New York Steak Frites. We also got some wings with the sauce on the side. The skewers were too spicy and had a strange flavor, the steak was alright, and the fries were probably the best thing we had. The wings tasted pretty bad. Also, about 5 minutes into eating after being served, a waitress came and took the plate I was eating on... didn't even ask if I wanted it gone (which I obviously didn't since my food was on it??) and said "I'll take this out of your way". We were a party of 6 that came to dine at the Argentia location on Sunday for lunch. The food was okay, but what takes the cake was our service. Our server, Mel, seemed like she did not want to serve us. She was uninterested, did not smile and basically just a cold body taking down orders. She was the worst server I've ever had and I also work in Hospitality. My husband ordered the Holy Smoke BBQ burger, but asked for some alterations. When he asked to make them, the waitress looked like she was about to quit on the spot. When our food arrived, we asked one of the servers for some hot sauce. We waited a while and none was forth coming, so we ask another server for some hot sauce. Several minutes later, we ask again. This time we asked our server for hot sauce. We were all done our meals by the time the hot sauce arrived. I've never had to ask 3 times to 3 different wait staff for hot sauce before, especially when the restaurant was not even busy. Came to this location with a couple of friends for dinner on a Sunday night, we ordered drinks and food. One of us had ordered a steak and asked for it to be done medium-rare, when they received the steak it was over done and they asked the waitress to see if another steak could be sent out since it was over cooked. 20 minutes later they finally received the other steak from the kitchen, the second steak was awful. After asking for a discount on their meal our table was visited by the manager named Jen, when we explained what had happened she seemed very uninterested and unempathetic to the situation. When we got the bill we realized that the discount applied was $3.95 compared to the $30 price of the meal which was 15% of the price of the meal not even the total bill. The whole situation was handled completely unprofessionaly by the Manager Jen, and the discount offered to make up for the poor experience was disrespectful to say the least. read more

I called in advance to reserve a table for under 12 people and the hostess was not very nice at all! After reading other reviews It is looking as if that is normal. I offered to reserve two tables of 6 and if we had to wait for them to be closer together that was ok and she still rudely insisted that they could not do big groups. My friend wanted a burger and I wanted wings so this seemed like the right place to go to in the area we were at. The hostess was friendly when we arrived and seated us right away. Our waitress was very quirky and friendly. It took a bit of time to get our drinks but I think that was largely due to the table of 8 she was also serving. My friend got the Brie Burger with fries. He mentioned that it was bigger before but was still good. The fries were so crispy and I did not regret stealing a few from him. He also got a pint of Granville Island (I think or Barking Squirrel) and Jacked it up for about $1.29. I got 5 hot buffalo wings for $9.96 and added a Caesar salad for $4.29. Our waitress hand tossed my wings by our table which was interesting. She mentioned they started doing that about a month ago. Their "hot" buffalo I feel would have been comparable as another restaurant's "medium" in my opinion. It was still good though and not too vinegary. She tossed it in a metal bowl and served the wings in it but I felt like it was distracting so I poured the wings out onto my plate. The carrots that were served with it were old and sad looking :( I still ate the carrot sticks though... It's a very busy place, and they seem to have a system down for customer service standards, since most of the servers follow the same protocol. One of the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant in Canada. I went there to spend some quality time with family after having a very busy day in office. I was served everything altogether including starters, dinners and drinks in spite of telling them let me have starters and drink first. I was told that kitchen was fast enough to get everything cooked altogether. After the escalation to manager. They took dinner back and promised to serve it fresh when I want.
