    Garlic shrimp tacos
    Mary T.

I have been eyeing visiting Union Social Eatery for a while. This location recently opened up five minutes away from my workplace. Our development team at work booked a lunch here a month ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend. My intern felt odd going without me and decided to pass. Recently, we both had some intense reconfiguration work to do. I suggested that we order lunch in. I seem to be the only one on our team who likes to plan mini lunches like this one. He was so happy and suggested that we order from Union Social Eatery. Done! This eatery is on Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes. I went with the latter because delivery was free over $20 and we knew that we could achieve this goal. Deciding what to order was tough. We ultimately decided on these items and that we'd share some items: - Garlic shrimp tacos - Korean pulled pork tacos - Philly steak naan wrap with truffle fries - Key lime cheesecake jars I was in taco mode. He wanted the Philly steak naan wrap. I shared whichever taco he wanted. He shared his truffle fries. The food was delivered fast. It was impressive. All food was carefully packed. Again, we were impressed. I asked my intern which taco he wanted. He wasn't fussy. He went for the garlic shrimp one. We both enjoyed it. I was thrilled to get such big, fresh shrimp. The garlic was subtle, but worked well with all the flavours happening. The soft taco shells were perfect and held everything together nicely. The Korean pulled pork tacos were incredible. So many depths of flavour happening in each bite! I loved the slaw with the seasoned pulled pork. I liked these tacos even more. My intern had the Philly steak naan wrap. He absolutely enjoyed it and polished it off. He loved how tender the steak was and said the naan went nicely with it. He shared his truffle fries that came with his wrap. I absolutely love truffle oil. Put it on fries and I am a huge fan. We had the key lime cheesecake jars for dessert. My intern had it with whipped cream. I opted to not have any on mine. It was good, although it wasn't aesthetically pleasing having it scooped messily into styrofoam containers. I liked the toasted coconut. I felt like it needed something more, though. We were happy ordering from here. We want to go dine in the restaurant next time when work isn't crazy and try more items off the menu. (92)

    Almond crusted chicken tenders
    Jen I.

Recently visited this location for lunch with some coworkers. When I looked at the menu, I swear that EVERYTHING looked appetizing! I zeroed in on a few choices (the Candy salad sounded delicious) but ultimately went with the almond-crusted chicken tenders & fries. The serving was huge! Definitely worth the price (~$16). The chicken pieces themselves were a pretty good size, and they didn't skimp on the almonds either. The fries looked amazing....but were unfortunately 100% oversalted and were kinda ruined. It didn't stop me from eating them in hopes that I would just get used to the saltiness, but that didn't happen. Shame. Killer Chicken sandwich looked tasty in person, and I do like the ways that they plate the food. The service was fine and the space was large and felt good and bright. I would definitely visit again and try something else on their attractive menu!

Union Social Eatery is located in what I can only describe as a stripmall / office type complex on the north side of Eglinton between Spectrum Way and Satellite. This side of Eglinton is recessed from the main road because of the dedicated MiWay bus roadway. It is however directly across the stripmall where Palmyra, Tim Horton's and Planet Bowl are if that helps anybody find it. Because it's sort of away from Eglinton it's not as easily found I'd have to say. Honestly for somebody that is not really looking it's sort of hard to see and find. When going to Union Social in the past we've always gone to the one on Financial but that area is really crowded. This area I don't really know what it's called and I don't live very far away, Matheson Airport Business park? The immediate business complex I believe is called Spectrum Square. There's lots of offices in the area because of it being an airport business park and for dinner on a weeknight it was still busy enough. Union Social from my previous visits to the Financial location seemed pretty lively, energetic and filled with good times comfort food. This place is really no different but just seems a bit quieter. I ended up just going with the haddock and chips. I wasn't feeling a burger which is what I usually order when going to Union Social but the food here has pretty much always been good and the service was also friendly and attentive. The servings are pretty generous. The plate was quite filling and for a place that doesn't necessarily seem to specialize in anything in particular the fish and chips was good. I used Open Table to make the reservation and that was easy to do and convenient since we were so close the table was booked barely half an hour before arrival.

Already I have my judgement and second thoughts... maybe as a local, I should check out somewhere else? As we entered this side door, the sign said we needed reservations to be seated. We knocked on the door and asked, they accommodated us. Vaccine passport checked. There's also outdoor seating available, though there's no shade. The place was dead. We were the only customers... we didn't know that until we stepped in, so we were committed at that point. Not the type of vibe that's very welcoming when it's dead and the doors don't look opened. We ordered the cheese steak and fries (sushi-grade steak on the menu) $19. The special that day was the 1lb of wings for $15 that comes with fries or salad. Regularly, the wings don't come with a side. I like the sauce with the wings, tequila chipotle with lime. The server was also attentive, but like I said, we were the only ones there! The food is okay! The salad is fresh, and the fries are crispy. The menu is a standard pub affair and the decor leaves me wanting something more exciting. Oh, there's a check-in offer for a free dessert, which I missed, so please take advantage of it. As a traveller at the hotel, you'll be satisfied with the food. As a local, nothing really stood out to go out of my way for a revisit.

The ambiance was quiet, but when we asked to have the curling game on (since we were watching it in our room), the waitress told us they couldn't because they lost the remote. She claimed changing the channel would affect all the TVs, but I'm not sure if that was the real reason. When we asked for a drink menu, we were told they no longer had one. The waitress didn't offer any alternatives or even mention what they had available. I just ordered a Rum and Coke and some beef nachos. The nachos were $20, but the beef was overcooked and tasted like it had been reheated from earlier. My mother-in-law's chicken Caesar salad also tasted old and rubbery. This is a place we've stayed at frequently, but after seeing issues from our last visit in October still unresolved (like a urinal covered with a garbage bag), it's clear they don't care about upkeep or quality. The waitress was okay, but that's about the only positive I can say. There are other, much better options nearby--save your time and money and go somewhere else.

We were promptly greeted by a very sweet, young woman. The same woman became our waitress. She was extremely attentive, friendly, and able to answer all of our questions. The cocktails we ordered were good & served in a timely manner, but slightly overpriced. We ordered a "shareable platter." It had ribs, breaded wings, fries, & chicken tenders. PLENTY OF FOOD! We did not finish it. The taste was average, though. ** The olives in my dirty martini were very old and bruised. The lemon served as garnishment on my husband's bourbon and Coke was old/crusty and had no juice.

After work today, I was picking up a beverage order at Starbucks and noticed that this Harvey's was open. It has taken over the store that was Fresh Burger, and is between Chipotle and Sunset Grill. I thought that I would order a meal through the Harvey's app on my phone. I'd then fetch it at the eatery and sit down to enjoy it. I placed my order in my car, parked at Circle K, which was across the street. I took advantage of the angus burger combo for $8.99 before taxes, which had the following: - Angus burger on a multigrain bun - Onion rings - Diet Pepsi (I upgraded to a large) for $0.50 I got word that it would be ready in fifteen minutes. It was enough time for me to redeem some coupons at Circle K and then drive over to Harvey's. I ended up with a prime parking spot steps away from both Chipotle and Harvey's. I backed into the spot and walked in. There was a man sitting down at a table on the right. I headed straight to the counter and got a cheerful, bubbly woman. I let her know that I was picking up a takeout order and said my first name. Her colleague nodded and fetched my order in a paper bag. I thanked both of them and found a table. I sat down and had dinner, watching CP24 on the screen. The angus burger was delicious. It had garlic mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and relish. The multigrain bun was soft and held everything together. It was fantastic! My Diet Pepsi was okay. It didn't have enough Diet Pepsi syrup from the fountain machine. I should have stuck with the regular size. I loved my onion rings. They were crispy and naturally sweet. I dipped them in ketchup. I used the washroom before I headed home. There are two single stalls. One was wheelchair-accessible. I used the regular one. It was clean. What I loved about it was a little shelf that I used to place my drink on it. Nice! I'm happy that there's this eatery by my workplace. It's a nice change from having McDonald's in the area when I crave a burger. Welcome, Harvey's! It's a beautiful thing. (327)
