My friend and I have been going to O'Grady's every 3 or 4 weeks for awhile now. Whenever we both have time off and can meet, we do. It's convenient for us and since we're both on a bit of a tight budget at the moment, we've enjoyed the Monday to Friday Happy Hour until 7 pm. They have 3 beers on tap for $6. It's only a 14-ounce glass (2 ounces smaller than an American pint) but we've enjoyed it as the staff are super friendly and genuine, the music they play is great, and we go early enough that it's not busy. Last week on Good Friday we decided to meet at our favorite spot. Got there around 5 and had 2 drinks each so we expected a bill for $12 each plus tax and tip. Imagine our shock when we each get a bill for $20 plus tax! I queried the waitress since I thought she must be new or marked it down wrong. Instead, we were told that Happy Hour is not in effect on any holidays! They would not adjust the bill so we paid and left but not very happy. Nowhere on the sandwich board advertising Happy Hour does it say pricing is not applicable on holidays. We were told by someone out front that it's listed on their website but how would we know we'd need to go to their website to check the price when we've had the same pricing probably a dozen times?? Very not cool and unfortunately very memorable but not in a good way. read more

Hello I went to this place for a quick bite of fries and a pint of beer on hot sunny day on patio. Water came right away tasted like a cold dirty fridge water awful it was disgusting Took over an hour to get my fries Server wasn't the friendliest. Place wasn't busy wonder why did it take that long ? Fries arrived on a plate I had to ask for napkin fork etc . Just unbelievable lazy customer service I won't be back there and I won't recommend this place for anyone ! What a fun drag show! Stefan Fetamean and Jordana Myles put on a great set of performances. If you're looking for entertainment, this is a great spot to check out. The service is solid and the food is decent for a spot whose kitchen is open until 2am! I ordered the chicken tenders with honey garlic sauce, and that was exactly what I got, as pictured. I definitely would go here more for the entertainment than for the food and drinks, but if you're looking for something to do for a night, this isn't a bad place to be. read more

O'Grady's is one of those restaurants/bars that makes you feel at home even if you're visiting from thousands of miles away. It's in the gay village on Church Street. The outside patios are perfect for enjoying happy hour when the weather is mild. Also fine for some people-watching (lol). We were visiting Toronto for a long weekend. We enjoyed dinner one night, cocktails with appetizers another, and breakfast on still another day. Every meal item was prepared perfectly. Likewise, the drinks were well-crafted. O'Grady's is a favorite with bear-types, but truly everyone is welcome and comes to O'Grady's. The wait staff is diverse and shows they are happy to be on the team. read more

When I was searching for a good poutine place near my office, I found this long-standing local pub has started an on-line shop called "Smoke Shack Poutine". Smoke Shack Poutine's food is available only online through Skip the Dishes or Uber Eats etc. There are many poutine options that excite poutine lovers! I ordered Stake & Mushroom Poutine. Loved this! The NY steak was perfectly seasoned, juicy, medium rare, and with a charcoal aroma. The thickly cut fries are golden & crispy, with robust potato flavor. Homemade gravy's taste is nicely salty with richness and has layers of depth. Smooth. The fries and gravy were in good harmony. The cheese curds were not as squeaky as I wanted, but plenty. The mushroom adds great texture and flavor. $18.99 is not cheap but worth it. Satisfying. Will come back to enjoy poutine, and eat-in with some beers! read more

O Grady's is a Church St staple! I often end up here because their patio is massive, so there's always seating, and room to breathe. They have a ton of fun drinks "The Lindsay Lohan", although I usually go for a simple red wine and sweet potato fries. Expect hilarious and interesting servers. Bathrooms have been converted to gender neutrals washrooms, although like most establishments on Church street, tend to be a bit run down. read more

Went for a quick bite on a Sat. afternoon, and this place didn't disappoint. Great ambiance. I mean it's in the center of TGV. 'nuf said. The food could've been better. I love Nachos...so most times, when I see nachos on the menu, and I have an appetite, I go for them. For around $18, this was a bit more expensive than other places, but the portion was not bad, the cheese was nicely melted and the toppings tasted fresh. The service was prompt and friendly and we sat on the patio, so it was a nice place for people-watching. Typical pub fare with lots of drink choices as well. Met up with some friends for the ever so sacred and fabulous PRIDE BRUNCH! The location for this days event was O'Grady's on Church street. The only thing better than brunch is an afternoon gay tea dance party! Five of us dined on the Patio and enjoyed brunch while people watching and catching up during Toronto Pride. Menu was easy and condensed for limited brunch offerings and thankfully our host grabbed reservations a couple weeks out. I had the classic breakfast with Scrambled Eggs, Bread, Peameal bacon, and some seasoned steak fries...oh and four grapes. Not really sure what the four grapes were but hey, they were good. I am guessing those were representing what was available as a fruit side or just a garnish. I went with peameal since I was in Canada, but the other choices were regular bacon or sausage. I would go for those options next time, but hey, "when in rome", you gotta go for it, Very Cool and fun place in the heart of "The Village"(Church-Wellesley) and the patio is a great space. stopped by here to grab some drinks. cocktail slushes are $12/each. not bad but by the time our 3 drinks were made, the 1st one was more than 60% melted. i paid extra $$$ to have my drink slushed up, but ended up getting it melted...disappointing. also, the lemonade was $5, we wanted that slushed up and was charged $12+tx/tip. though the lemonade didnt have any alcohol to it all. none that 3 of us could taste anyways.. one thing we didnt like was, the bartender notified us after he had made all the drinks, that they "couldnt sell the alcohol w.out a food purchase", therefore forcing us to spend additional money. it wouldve been more appreciated and professional had he just informed us of that beforehand. we grabbed a can of chips for an additonal $3+tx/tip. read more

Three hours spent there and I left hungry and sober. overrated. WAY over priced! it is actually cheaper to eat steak and wine at The Keg Mansion. The staff is friendly and doing their best, but the pricing, expectations of their staff, and the quality of food is extremely under par. Just another typical pub place. It's got 2-floors, ground floor is more like a casual sit-down restaurant, while upstairs is more like a bar. The 2nd floor has a stage, pool tables, and a coin operated foozball table. The alcoholic drinks are pricy and I would avoid getting their Long Island Tea (it's made of pepsi, not iced tea). I tried their Fish & Chips and found the fillet tasted a tad fishy, but otherwise its size was great and the fry on it was to my liking! It's a solid village pub. In fact, it pretty much is THE spot on church street to chill. It has an extensive menu for pleasing everyone except for those with gluten free concerns. We had to leave and come back to make sure my friend could eat something. We returned after dinner for the positive atmosphere. This would be a great area to expand their menu (just throwing out there since it's becoming a more common issue). Open late for food, drinks and just always a good time. Might I add, quite a variety of sangria pitchers are available. Highly recommend. My two favourite food items here are the nachos - great for sharing. The other : fish tacos. Outside of food, yes there's loads of beer, cocktails and mocktails are available. They have that covered pretty well. Customer service is spot on here. The server was friendly, attentive, and always came back to refill our water. I had the fish and chips, which had a nice, light batter and tasted great. The size of the fish is actually quite large (see the picture), so go for 2 pieces only if you're really hungry! Worst restaurant experience ever. Sat at 18:00, half of the table served at 20:00, the other half 20:30. Dry and cold chicken sandwich, after the waitress came 4 times to apologize. Two or three other guys came to serve us the wrong stuff, for other customers. Service was fine but I gotta give 2 stars for the food. We ordered the spinach dip which was the size of a ketchup ramekin with an almost comedic amount of chips and pita. For $12 one would hope you get more than 2 Tbls of dip. My friend got the chicken bowl which tasted okay but was underdressed and the soba noodles were undercooked. Only reason this place is getting three stars is because of the fantastic patio. If you're with a group of friends just looking to have beer or sangria they have amazing deals on 4L of beer, it's amazing. Besides that not much to rave about. Service was awful, server didn't care about us and was being a arrogant dick when asking us questions. Took a while just to get our beer so that was disappointing. Selection of beer on draft is poor. Menu selection is below mediocre. Friend ordered poutine and it looked of the quality of that at Burger King. Terrible. This is really a 3.5/5 star rating. This is just a great casual place with a great patio to grab some drinks with friends. The service staff are friendly, fast, and can take a bit of ribbing. (We tried having a little bit of friendly but harmless fun with our server and he took with good natured humour!) Our group of 3 tackled the O'Grady's 148oz monster pitcher and it is clearly the best value if want to be out there chilling on the patio while sipping on some cold suds. The menu is standard pub fare but I particularly like their fries and sweet potato fries for munching on. Overall experience: This place will not be getting our business again. My partner and I decided to relax at O'Grady's for brunch. Upon arriving, the server told us we can sit anywhere. We chose a table and the server brought us water shortly. Everything was great up until one of the servers literally body checked me from the behind. It took them over half an hour to take our orders. When we received our food, my burger had no appeal. The bun was crushed. The patty was overcooked and dry. The lettuce was old. The potato wedges were soft and soggy. My partner ordered the salad and was not impressed, especially with the chicken being cold. The server barely checked our tables after we received our food. Getting the bill took as long as receiving our orders. We could have went to a different pub that had better service and food. It is a shame this place is so popularized when quality is lacking in both customer service and food. We would have been better off at a Firkin pub. read more

Giving 1 star just because the bouncer/owner/manager is an asshole and wouldn't let us have water. I came here two nights in a row with friends from out of town. Our server, Antonio, was great and the entertainment was stellar. However, on the second night we were sitting and enjoying the show when the man who greeted us at the door came by to clear some empty beer pitchers off our table. The DD at our table asked him for water. The man left and returned with our server and ordered him not to bring us any water and told us we weren't allowed to ask for any. At this point we had already ordered several drinks and were still working on the beer pitchers on our table - so we had been consistently ordering drinks. I had dropped $100 there the night before and I'm pretty sure we had already ordered a few $100 worth of drinks by that point the second night. It is completely fucked to deny customers hydration. You can demand we order more drinks, you can demand we move to the bar if we're holding up a table. Hell you can even ask us to buy bottled water, but forbidding us from having any is fucked. I'm never bringing anyone back here again. read more

I was visiting with my friend for the NBA All Star game from San Francisco and we wanted to watch the Grammy's at a fun spot. We randomly found this place and had so much fun here! They had tons of TVs and even a ballot (I lost - damn you Taylor Swift). The cutest part was they had cocktails named after the main talent ("the biebs"). I bet this place is tons of fun during sport games! The crowd was fun and the staff was very sweet, especially our waitress. Food was... Ehh. I wanted to like this place. I expected to. Businesses in the village seem to exude welcome and attention to detail. Sadly, it just wasn't to be. O'Grady's reminds me of a spoiled trust-fund-baby. You know the type, right? Tons of potential but little drive? Plenty of opportunities but no motivation to make the most of them? Outside: perfect corner location, great building, appealing & spacious sidewalk patio. Inside: lackadaisical service, sloppy mistakes from the kitchen and food that's mediocre at best. We visited on a Saturday night around 9pm. It was moderately busy, but there were plenty of empty tables. We scanned the menu by the door and thought "Yes. let's get some pub food on one of those outside tables" Just inside the front door we met a hostess who directed us to walk out the door, around the corner and speak to another host. Now, that's not horrible, but it was missed opportunity #1. There was an inside door open to the sidewalk just a few steps away. Instead of asking an obviously new customer to exit the business, an observant hostess could have said, "Is this your first time here? Welcome! Next time you visit, there's a convenient host station right on the sidewalk. Follow me, I'll introduce you..." We walked out the door we entered and found the the second hostess ourselves. If you're looking, it's closer to the back of the property than the front. We met hostess #2 and were seated in the back. Our waiter was personable but not quick to arrive. We ordered drinks and asked about light, quick appetizers. Our waiter offered no suggestion other than pointing us to the appropriate menu section. (Apparently he had no problem reading under the low light underneath that umbrella.) We asked about nachos or chicken wings. The waiter started writing, asking about options. He seemed eager to just get an order and frustrated by our unfamiliarity with meat, sauce and spice options. Again, not horrible, just missed opportunities. We ordered quickly. Drinks arrived quickly; appetizers didn't. Other tables seated after us were served. Eventually a server carried our plates to another table. Some shuffling and confused looks caught our waiter's attention. The plates came to our table. (Did the kitchen expediter shuffle tickets? Aren't tables numbered? Aren't table numbers on each ticket?) The chicken wings were hot and decently cooked while the 'loaded' nachos had been under a salamander or holding lamp so long the cheese had dried and some chip edges blackened into charcoal. They were also missing ingredients listed for them on the menu. Our waiter was busy with conversations at other tables. We ate around the kitchen's mistakes and made the most of it. After all, making a plate of tortilla chips completely inedible is practically impossible. When our waiter eventually checked on us with a "How's everything?" I told him of the nacho issues. His response was priceless: "So you liked the chicken wings. Great! What about entrees?" We didn't order entrees. I don't know if O'Grady's management is absent, burned-out, in denial or ignorant, but with a little passion, some staff training and oversight, this place could live up to its potential. Of course, I'll likely never know if O'Grady's takes my advice or not. In the end the great location just wasn't enough to compensate for the self-satisfied attitude toward customer service and the careless food mistakes. read more

Great patio, but they seem to have become lazy about everything else because of their prime location in the Village. Mediocre food at best, service is ok, but the beer selection is sadly poor and their taps are dirty with flat draft beer the result. If you have the words "Tap and Grill" in your name you'd think they'd at least make sure those taps are clean. Bottled beer is a more expensive option, but at least it won't be flat and gross. In a nutshell: SIGH. C'mon guys, you can do better. read more

This is a pretty decent place to have a party. A friend of mine had a going away bash here last night. He had booked the second floor, which was pretty comfortable for the 30-40 of us. There were three high tops, two couch areas a big table and a bar area to hang out. I'm of the opinion that a good party requires several places for small groups (5 people max) to have good conversations. This place definitely provided that. We had a dedicated bar with Strongbow on tap, and a bathroom on the floor. It was a pretty ideal place to hold a party, really. The bartender there was very nice and reasonably quick, considering he was pretty much working the whole room by himself, including bussing and serving drinks. He was also pretty easy on the eyes, which is standard for the neighbourhood. I've been here in the summer as well, and they have a pretty stellar patio. Will be back if I'm in the neighbourhood, or if I'm planning a party for a bunch of people! No debit on the second floor. read more

Don't Bother For Breakfast Showed up at 10am on a Saturday morning. They were still getting things together, didn't look like they were ready for any customers, but 2 were already eating on the patio. It took 5 minutes for the waiter to come back and wipe a seat on the patio off for the 2 of us. Country music was playing inside, none without. The meal arrived. Eggs rubbery and browned on the outside. Side potatoes deep-fried, overdone. Ham was fried cold cuts, not fresh sliced ham. Coffee was undrinkable, especially painful within sight of 2 better coffee joints. Fruit side was fresh. Lot of food left over, didn't want to take any of it away. Previous couple also didn't finish their meal. No one came with our bill for a long time. We had to hunt someone down. Paid over $20 not including tip for 2 very mediocre breakfasts. Great location for people watching, but you'll just have to ask if they have a different fry cook for the evenings. read more
