Have been here a few times in recent years. Staff are always well put together and friendly. Beer prices are very fair. Wing night is Monday, and the last 3 times I have partaken the wings were just terrible. Small, over cooked, very little meat. We all know that wholesale food prices have shot up in recent years, but it is quite obvious that this franchise has chosen the lowest grade chicken wings possible. Absolutely AWFUL. I went to Fox and John's for lunch today, 3 April, 2026. The food was GARBAGE. The place was busy, as it's a sunny day in March and a holiday, but still. I ordered a Beef Dip sandwich. How hard is it to screw this classic up? Ask this restaurant!! My food, when it finally arrived nearly 30 minutes after I ordered it, was COLD and badly-plated. Trust me: while I was a student I worked in restaurants: both contemporary and high-end. Nobody seems to care about the PRODUCT here, or its presentation. Yes, it's a pub, but the prices are premium and I think it's reasonable to expect quality. Stale bread, hard cheese that was no longer melted, and sauce spilled all over the plate. I asked the server how long my meal had sat on the pass, and they couldn't answer. There also seems to be new management, and they're very disorganized in terms of their roles. When I told my server that the food was terrible, she sent one of the managers, who offered to comp my meal. (Note: as a former worker in hospitality I would NEVER expect a comp, unless it's courtesy.) So then, I got the bill, and HEY! the sandwich I didn't eat was still charged, at nearly 20$. Come ON. I've read how this is a family business, and know that you've taken on a LOT. But my experience today was a disappointing shambles. As cousins, please pull it together, and get your BEST product out, because you're potentially sitting on a career-long opportunity, for you, and for your employees. A spur of the moment decision led us to this restaurant, which led to an enjoyable brunch. There was a great mix of people enjoying the overall chill feeling of the pub. Bc The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The cleanest washroom I have ever seen - they set the gold standard. Food was delicious - some of the best home fries I have ever tried. Great ambiance. Great service. Food another story. We ordered the Souvlaki dinner and the Coconut Thai bowl. The rice was over-cooked in both, but pure mush in the ctb. The flavour of the bowl was decent but too sweet for my taste. The veg were also mush. Other than the rice being over cooked, the Souvlaki was a good portion and the skewers and salad were good. Moral of the story: when you're in a pub, order pub food. read more

Visiting friends in the area brought us to this local pub for dinner. Reasonable price for beer, generous portion sizes for food and plenty of screens all around for sports. We were there for a couple hours to catch-up and our server came by at exactly the right times to make sure our drinks were always topped up. Even though it was busy, the noise level was still good to chat over. For food, we had their fish and chips and 1lb of their mango habanero dry wings. I liked their fish and chips more as it came with two generous pieces of fish. The dry wings didn't have enough flavor, maybe should have chosen one with sauce instead. read more

Stopped by for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service with just the right amount of attentiveness. I ordered the Irish Stew and it was chock full of chunks of tender lamb! The sauce had a nice consistency paired with the garlic bread. My dining companions ordered the chicken and avocado sandwich with a side of Caesar salad and the other was the turkey club with fries. Oh, I can't forget our drinks! White sangria, a margarita, and a fox mule. Cheers to a mild day for walking around the area! Everyone left bellies full and content. read more

This place is a pub. It serves pub food. They have things like curry, and shrimp on the menu, but let's be honest if you pick that up you're making decisions. This is a pub. It serves pub food. 16 bucks will get you a burger and fries, but for $19 you can get a burger and fries except on that burger they throw eggs, and bacon, and cheese, and jalapenos, and barbecue sauce, and who knows what else. That's what you want to do. If you have 16 bucks for a burger, you have $19 for the filthiest greasiest most delicious thing that you can imagine. I can make a burger at home, so if I'm going out to eat one it better be something that is beyond my own capabilities, and they straight up deliver on this front. I have no regrets, and would love to come back and drop that money on another one. I just don't know if my health will allow it? read more

During a recent visit I stayed at an Airbnb down the street from Fox and John's. I was there for 10 days and tried all the pubs in the couple blocks of restaurants and pubs. F&J was definitely my favorite Mostly because the service was the best of all my experiences. They just have a collection of very friendly, service oriented staff, both male and female. I had the burger with everything on it and it was good. I went in wi gs night and their wings were on sale and good too. The suicide sauce was good, a slight bit hotter than just Buffalo which was nice. I wish they wouldn't play 50s diner music on the weekend daytime shifts...it almost made me leave, but once it became 5 or so, they shifted into a better playlist that was tolerable. Did a lunch on the patio the other day. 5 stars for the service. Seated immediately, server on us in no time with our drinks. Splurged on a lovely glass of white. (Do love a good white on a sunny patio) I had the tuna mango and avocado salad on arugula. Had high hopes but it was actually a little bland. Not sure how that mix can be bland but they did it. It may have been the very little dressing. For 21 bucks, I wanted bursting flavour buds. Colleague ordered the chicken quesadilla. She loved it. Lots of melted cheese, and chicken with a nice side of salsa and sour cream. Will be back but will pass on the salad. Maybe try that huge ass burger that the guy at the next table ordered. I'm docking points because our server (Jessica) was in an awful mood and ruined the night for my large party, who were in a good mood, were aware and apologetic about how much space we were taking up, who ordered food and drinks for hours, and who were - most importantly - meeting there to celebrate the life of a friend who had passed. Instead of a comforting, welcoming atmosphere we got the most rude service I've ever experienced. Having been a server, I can say that no amount of "maybe she was just having a bad day" could have explained away her behaviour. I kept thinking "wow, doesn't she want tips?" or at least to foster an experience where we'd want to return to the establishment... but then when the bills came with an automatically-added gratuity (fair, and common practice but never mentioned by her at any point in the night), it all made sense (she didn't *have* to be accommodating, friendly, responsive, etc. so she wasn't). At one point she rolled her eyes at someone who asked about the discrepancy between the amount on the bill and the amount on the screen before they tapped their card to pay. We waited 40 minutes for water. I'll go back to the restaurant because it's a convenient location and because other than the service that one night, I like the place. But damn. read more

What a brutal ordering experience with this place. Shephards pie arrived cold and in an embarrasingly small portion size. Like... 1/3 of the container. Almost like someone decided to eat half of it before packaging up and sending off. Avoid this place. Just horrible. read more

My girlfriend and I have been back on two occasions to watch the Leafs game. They have a lots of TVs and the staff will accommodate and change to any sport on cable upon request. The booths near the bar even have its own individual screens. We ordered and split the Perogies and Peri Peri Wings. The Perogies were standard frozen bar perogies. They are covered in fried onions and bacon with sour cream for dipping. They are good and pair well with an ice cold beer. The wings are fantastic. The Peri Peri Wings are full of flavor and have the perfect amount of heat. They are also pretty meaty for the price point at 10 bucks a pound. Lately this place has been a good spot for some snacks and beer while watching the game. Fox and John's price and service is also competitive in a busy area with alot of other sports bars. I am definitely bumping up the score since my previous visit. read more

I made a reservation for two for 6.30 on Thursday evening and when we arrived for dinner, we were told that there was no vacancy. I asked, then why do we make a reservation, to which the attendant shrugged! I then asked to speak to the manager because this was the third time this had happened. I wish I didn't! He was so indifferent and RUDE, telling me that they were there to make money and they gave the seating to more people!! This manager should not be in this job. If, however, this is your policy, then you should be in another part of town!! read more

The experience was pretty good from the beginning, I walked in with my mom, and we were seated promptly. The waitress took our orders, without using a pen and pad I might add, which was somewhat impressive since she got my moms order correct. When it comes to my order she was right to modify my side(which I now know for next time, I can double up on the fries, opposed to veggies), instead of fries she accidentally brought out rice, she corrected this error by bringing my fries shortly after though(to her credit). The 8 Oz steak was juicy and well seasoned, perfectly done not to overcooked not too undercooked, It was just right, the surrounding environment in the restaurant made the experience that much better, I got to watch sports clips, while I ate my steak and fries. The interior is pretty nice, especially when compared to how the past owners(I'm talking Sharky's&KennedyPublicHouse)had it set up. And although their steak is missing that je ne sais quoi that the steak use to have at Kennedy public houses steak had it maybe the lack of hollandaise sauce, but the steak while good in flavour profile was missing something. read more

Great food and service! My friend and I went for lunch here and both enjoyed our meals. He got the Shepards Pot Pie, and I got the a wrap with a side of poutine. The best part was the poutine wasn't super salty. Wasn't super noisy or busy for a lunch time. Would go again. read more

Have been a couple of times for lunch here since this pub/restaurant opened where The Kennedy used to be. I was quite impressed with the renovations - the space is laid out a lot better in terms of seating and the booths were clean, comfortable and came with personal TV screens to watch the game. The bar area looked great and we counted at least 10 big screens which were visible from pretty much everywhere. Menu offered quite a lot of options, lots of fried apps, burgers and pub-type mains. We had the daily soup/sandwich combo and the house burger. The soup was a delicious curry vegetable and quite a big portion, and the sandwich was a ham, Swiss, lettuce and tomato on a soft roll - both were delicious and great value for only $9. The burger ($10) was also delicious and the fries and onion rings that came with it were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. We've also had the fish and chips which was really good and a decent size, and pints of Canadian for $6 were also great value. Our server Julia was really friendly and attentive and took the time to explain the specials to us. Overall we were really happy with our experience and will visit again soon. Great pub food and much friendlier service than The Kennedy equals a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. read more

Clearly over served one of the few people in the bar at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Seemed to encourage his belligerent behaviour as he yelled songs over any other noise in the bar as people tried to watch the game. Seemed to know all of the staff, as they hugged him etc. Instead of getting him to keep it down. Not a surprise this place is empty. read more

I used to go to this pub from time to time and all seemed ok except the noise level is high, which is challenging whilst trying to have a conversation .But the food was pretty good up until the last year .I am not sure if the cooks have changed which maybe the case and this does happen .I have ordered food fairly regularly but I am noticing food presentation is not up to the norm for here and like everywhere their prices have gone up but portion sizes are getting smaller .I ordered a meal just last night and there was about three tablespoons of rice ! read more

I used to go here occasionally however the food handling was brutal. I arrived at around 7pm. After I was seated on the patio I saw the hostess grab a bunch of glasses from where customers drink. They are worried about contact tracing however they can't get the basics of food handling right. I also waited ten minutes for my server just to get a Heineken zero. It wasn't that busy (probably 10 tables at most between the bar and the restaurant/patio). Even if it was more than the server could have handled the manager could have stepped in or anyone of the other staff goofing around and juggling their smokes could have assisted. You would think being without employment for a long period of time that they would be more attentive. read more

The Kennedy Public House that used to be at this location had so much charm and loyal customers, but high rents drove them out. This is a loud sports bar with zero charm. I hope it gets driven out soon. It is never as busy as the Kennedy and a very different crowd read more

Brilliant meal at a sensible price. Served quickly and to specification I asked for rare rack of lamb and it was perfect. My wife's salmon salad was also perfect. Went for the Leafs opening game. The place was pretty much full I managed to get a table. Excellent Sports Bar set up with many TV screens. Had the chicken wings with a pint of Canadian special. Tasty and great value. Then I ordered a Great Lakes Brewing Company craft beer Octopus IPA. I asked about how hoppy it was; the server really didn't know. That was my only disappointment because it was actually really hoppy and bitter: 88 on the IBU scale. I had to look it up online. So that was my only issue otherwise great place. read more
