Shout out to Michael at Jabo's Ace Hardware in Hurst. I had been all over Hurst and Amazon trying to find the right hinge for a kitchen cabinet review with no luck. Within 60 seconds of walking into the store Michael found me what I needed. Ace only had 5 on hand and Michael offered to order the rest for me which I could have in just a few days. Today, I was at a pharmacy, getting a couple vaccinations in preparation for flu season when I realized I was very close to Jabo's Ace Hardware. I actually thought it would be great to just go browse their store. I NEVER go to hardware stores just for fun. EVER. In the past, I usually visited the big box home improvement stores, like Home Depot and Lowes, but only did so, when I had a project underway and wanted to make sure I could find whatever esoteric part I might need. Those stores are so huge that I am usually confident I'll buy what I need (if I can find it). The downside of the big box stores is that their inventory is so large and complex that it's hard to find things and if you do find the right location in the store, so many other customers have picked through the bins that many bins have the wrong item or parts have been stolen, leaving incomplete products. In fact, during my last visit to Home Depot, I wanted to buy a 1-1/2" pvc pipe, but didn't want to buy a 10' long one. I finally found the shorter ones, inside a display box of air conditioner filters! I never could locate where they should have been. It's quite frustrating when these things happen. Let me digress a bit... I was recently looking for wood pellets for my new Traeger smoker. The Traeger site mentioned several places where I could buy them. A quick search of websites showed ACE had many, many Traeger accessories, so I decided to give them a try. The closest Ace to my home was Jabo's, so I drove over. Jabo's Ace Hardware has to be the nicest, most organized hardware store I've ever seen. I was truly impressed. What impressed me even more was how attentive the staff was. I was greeted by the cashier as I entered the store. Floor staff members asked if they could help me find anything, but I declined. (When's the last time you were greeted or asked about your needs at a big box hardware store? I browsed the amazing Traeger inventory but could not locate the pellets for which I was searching (hickory). I finally asked a passing employee about it and he looked through their inventory and confirmed they did not have what I wanted. He recommended I visit a much larger Ace store about ten miles away, which I did. That location had what I wanted, but wait... The staff at Jabo's was so attentive I decided to stop by to look for another smoker accessory. The same person saw me and asked if I needed help. We looked through the accessories again, but they did not have what I wanted. He offered to order it for me, but I was planning to cook that day and declined the offer. I thanked him for his help and after a little more browsing, headed for my car. Before I could get in the car, the staff member came running out looking for me. He said he checked a storage unit behind the store and found what I wanted there! Again, have you ever experienced this at the big box stores??? I was so very impressed that, when emailed and asked to fill out a customer satisfaction survey, I did and gave a glowing review. Fast forward to today: When I went to Jabo's this time, I didn't plan to buy anything. I was just killing time. The very same member of the staff approached me and greeted me as if he remembered me. (Great sales technique, but come on...) I told him I was just browsing and he let me do as I wished, saying as he moved away, to let him know if I needed help. Then he thanked me for the review I submitted previously. He DID remember me! I saw two items in which I was interested, a Traeger pellet sensor and a small Weber kettle grill. The Traeger package did not say how the sensor get's its power, so I asked the salesperson for help. (I hate items that require disposable batteries) He didn't see the answer on the package either and said, "Let's find out together." We walked to a computer and he went online to get the answer. We watched a video that showed how to install the sensor and it showed it being connected to a wire in the smoker. Question answered! Now came the difficult part. I had to decide which item I wanted more. I told him I didn't need further assistance, as I pondered my dilemma. He said, "I know everyone has their own shopping style and some don't like people to hover around them, so I'll leave it to you. If you have more questions, just let me know." I picked the Weber, but didn't see any boxes, just the floor display. I found him, cutting a key for another customer, so I asked if there were boxed grills or if I should just grab the display. He said, "We like for customers to be able to grill right when they get home, so we assemble them for you. Let me help you with the one you saw." I felt so rude, interrupting his key cutting for the other customer! I said, "That's not necessary, I can roll it to the cashier." To my amazement, the customer said, "No, go ahead! I'm in no rush at all." (without sarcasm) The staff AND the customers at Jabo's Ace Hardware are so friendly. I've found my "hardware home!" read more

Always the best customer service in Tarrant County! Charlie stood beside me and just listened about our community garden and their Botanical Interests seeds ! So, I bought $56.00 worth of them. For our Autumn community garden. He learned a few things about Fall Gardening! And I really hope the manager will move the Botanical Interests seeds back to the front of the store because I have had 40 friends tell me they had a hard time finding Fall seeds in our neighborhood Y'all. We are down a foot of rain in Hurst, TX, in an above average heatwave Summer. People will still be planting their cool weather crop gardens even into October and November 2023. We did not even have a freeze last winter till in December2022. You can plant a Fall Garden. Water your seeds everyday after you plant them. Our garden averages hundreds of lbs a year of fresh organic produce donated to the local food bank a year. We currently have 40 families and 65 preK students between 3-4 years old gardening with us. We have pollinator beds, PreK beds, monarch butterfly beds, we do our own compost and have our own non aggressive bee hives. Please teach these skill and pass it on to the next generations. In WWII they had victory gardens. During COVID we have had victory gardens! Right now some of us Baby Boomers still pray for rain. Thank You, Jabo`s Ace Hardware for blessing the Hurst Community! I'll start off by saying that I have bought thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment and other things over the years since I moved to Bedford. I called this location this morning to see if they could service my Honda mower. At first the person on the phone said they do not service Honda mowed because they don't carry any parts for them. I then said that it doesn't need parts, just basic service; oil change, blades sharpened and carb cleaned/adjusted. The person on the phone then said, yeah we do that, bring it on in. So I did. Once I unloaded the mower, brought it in the store and got it back to service department, sling blade at the counter just acted like he knows nothing about mowers and just stood there mumbling excuses about why he did not want to service my mower because it's a Honda. Piss poor customer service. Thanks for wasting my time. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. You just lost a good customer. read more

The assistant manager, Robert, was extremely helpful and kind. He explained that this is a servicing store, so when I purchased my Echo trimmer with edger attachment, he fueled it, made sure I had the fuel and gas can that I needed, explained how to maintenance it and walked me through how to use it. For someone like me who is a beginner with the high powered lawn equipment, this level of instruction and care is very helpful. I feel pretty confident now! read more

I came in to get my key fob coded for my Nissan Marano 2012, when I walk in they refused to code a key fob I had already purchased. They said if it's not purchase from this particular store their software will not understand it. I have seen the key code hardware that they use. It could care less about where the fob came from, it just needs to know what make model and year the car is. I purchased the fob from an authorized dealer. So it's like saying if it came from Nissan, they would not be able to do it because it was not bought at Ace Hardware. I'm gonna blame this on the lazy employment & not necessarily incompetence. But when I drive 22 miles just to get to an ace hardware store for them to tell me some ridiculous reason like this, it makes you not wanna come back ever!!! read more

We got our new Weber Natural Gas Grill from Jabo's Ace Hardware in Hurst on Precinct Line; and I was excited to use it that night. The minor snag was that our gas outlet was a 1/2" pipe; yet the grill needed 3/8". Went to Home Depot to get the reducer from .5 to .375; came home and screwed it on; only to discover now that both connections were "female" ended. UGH! Drove to Jabo's along with the part from Home Depot; and several photos on my phone to get the correct parts once and for all. How nice it was to be greeted at the door by an associate; and personally helped to find the exact parts to get my natural gas grill operating in time for dinner! WARREN went above and beyond making sure all the components would fit and made sure I knew how to connect them. I had a return item without a receipt that he even looked up on my account and then exchanged for all the things I wanted to buy; including some cedar grilling planks for fish. I got everything I needed and there was just a 2 cent difference in my favor! Amazing! I should have skipped Home Depot and gone there from the start. I will forever be an ACE customer! What a surprise while we were at Jabo's Ace Hardware in Hurst, TX. We just opened the door, and a gentleman was there, greeted us and asked how he could help us. This seldom happens at other stores. We appreciated the welcome and helpfulness of this gentleman. We came to pick up some paint we had purchased from Benjamin Moore, online. The gentleman went to the back to look for the paint. While we were walking around the store, another gentleman wanted to know how he could help us. This gentleman took us over to the paint department where we met Michael, who was working in the paint department. We had our order sheets, to compare the paint samples he had made and waiting for us. He checked our order sheets and determined all was not complete. He went and got his order form and completed the order. Everyone was very kind and helpful at this store. We will be a return customer. read more

My dad is always telling me that he hates the big hardware stores, he still shops there, but he prefers the small more intimate places, like Mr. C's. It's been in Hurst for a long time and today I was out shopping with my sister and she wanted to stop in here for a Christmas gift. It's convenient, just park right outside, a few steps and you're in the store, right away you are greeted by a smiling sales associate and they are asking if you need any help. Excellent service! Fair price! Took my neglected 10 year old lawnmower to them for a tuneup as it quit running. Amazingly, 3 hours later, they called me to say it was ready for pickup and it runs great. I have been a loyal customer at Mr. C's ACE for over two years and have mostly enjoyed the help that I have received from the staff. Over the last few years, my small landscape service grew twice its size it what seems almost over night. I chose to purchase most of my equipment from my local Mr. C'S hardware store. Six months ago I bought a blower that locked up after one season of use. Now a year later I have a zero turn that will not start, but I did not blame my issues on my local store. I tossed it up as hiring the wrong employees. I was attempting to spend six thousand more again at my local Mr. C's store until I was treated in a way that still puzzles me and has me questioning whether I want to continue doing business here. How can someone can be so un-friendly to a loyal customer or even a potential customer for that matter. It was as if I was taking up Mark's time and that my business wasn't important enough for him to deal with. Mark has never warmed up to me, and today was no exception. It wouldn't matter if I bought a two dollar paint brush or a six thousand dollar zero turn. He has always treated me with poor customer service. I would hope to continue doing business with my local Mr. C's however have to take my business elsewhere while I continue to build my landscaping business. Employees are a very crucial part of a business and I just cannot continue to deal with Mark's rude and unjust service. read more

Don't go. Turn around and drive to the location in Colleyville if you need an Ace. I needed a compression nut remover for my toilet valve on my copper pipe. Jerry is helping someone and asks some incredibly old guy to help me. The jerk then starts talking to me like I am an idiot. "First lets see what you really need"... I know what I need. I didn't come in the store for advice. He continues to tell me, "If its a compression valve, it is saudered on. If not, you just unscrew it." No. It isn't saudered and the nut keeps spinning in place so it won't unscrew. How hard is this to get? I need to either use my dremel to remove it (which I am avoiding because I dont want to hit into the pipe) or a compression nut remover... Walmart has them online. Why the hell doesn't Ace carry them? Who knows ..BUT he wants to argue with me. Seriously. He needs to go to a nursing home, because he has lost his freakin' mind. read more

I have been shopping at Mr. C's since I moved to Texas in '94. Not many places these days that greet you by your name when you come in. And for the first time visitor, they greet you and take you to exactly what you are looking for, no wandering around wherehouses looking for someone who might be able to help you. I am a rewards member of ACE which also helps stretch my dollar. Their Service Department is very skilled and fairly priced. They stock replacement parts to almost everything they sell. My dad says this is the best hardware store in the entire metroplex. It has things other "large chain hardware stores" don't carry or only sell in packages. You can get one of lots of little things. I was impressed with how clean and good smelling it was for a hardware store. I also found lots of unique things to look at. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Each Ace is individually owned so each carry different stuff. Weird that the one thing we wanted A Heavy duty Rubber Garbage Bin did not have a lid and they do not sell the lids separate. While we waited for 3 different employees to look in the back I looked around and they offer everything from making keys and holiday decor to western hats. My family has done business with Mr. C's Hardware for at least 25 years. I've also regularly compared the selection and pricing of various products they carry with other hardware and tool centers, including the so-called "big-box" home centers. Mr. C's is consistently competitive with those AND offers the best customer service by far. The employees always seem happy and well trained. Furthermore, their selection of fasteners and small parts is second to none and is a feature that is not even offered by many of their competitors. GO TO HERE!!! This is an incredible store. The fix-it depart is just great. I took my Toro mower to the jip shop on Fielder, and aside from the rudest snottiest people, they fixed my mower self drive, got it home, pulled it out of the truck and the wheel fell off. I took it back and being jerks, no apology, just a "guess he didn't tighten it enough". Really Sherlock, ya think? Got it home again and it would run on concrete, but not on grass. They said it needed adjusted and didn't know if I did something but it was going to be something they would have to look at. Really???? After over a hundred and the mower not fixed, took it to Mr Cs. This mower never ran so good. They said that the pully on the self drive was shot and showed me the piece. Funny the other place couldn't determine that. Cost me under a hundred, and back to one pull. After 10 year they did say it getting tired a bit. NEXT...chain saw, took my Stihl to the jip shop on fielder, long story short, rude snotty, cant fix s***. Took it to Mr C's, chain was on backwards for starters, cleaned it, got it running, and it runs like the day I bought it, 20 years ago. The bill was 65 dollars. Good bunch of people, they're polite and they don't make you feel like they are doing you a favor by coming in. They take the time to chat with you, and let you know what they fixed and why. No one has ever been rude and trust me, I'm the guy who calls people out on that on the spot. read more

Mr. C's is a hardware store that is a pleasure to shop at. All of the store employees are extremely helpful and will do everything they can to answer your questions. I would go the extra distance to go there versus the big mediocre, unhelpful "hardware" stores. Mr. C's has competitive prices and is very supportive in the community.
