Very helpful staff, was undecided on outfits and salesperson made a few suggestions that made me very happy.

I'm a senior gentleman and I took my daughter there to shop. She likes to try on clothes and ask my opinion when she comes out of the dressing room. I was just sitting in the hallway outside the dressing room waiting for my daughter to show me her next outfit. Suddenly, what appears to be the manager comes into this hallway and asks me to get out of this hallway and stand in the main part of the store, as she said other women were coming in using a very snooty tone of voice. I wasn't doing anything wrong and I was just sitting in the hallway to the dressing booths. This in my view was horribly rude, especially for paying customers, which I am. The manager then proceeded to force her opinion on my daughter by telling her to show her, the manager, the outfit as she tried it on. My daughter told me she did not want her opinion but only mine, her father. Totally arrogant. The staff here is horrible and I have never experienced such arbitray and crash rudeness. This is NOT the way to treat customers. I agree with the other 1 and 2 star reviewers. The staff here has no idea how to treat their customers. I do not recommend this store to anyone. Please stay away at all costs. The store in my opinion is not very good anyway, and many items are not available in the right sizes. There are plenty of good clothing stores around where the staff is very polite and courteous to their customers. Not this place. Don't shop here, unless you like to be treated rudely and disrespectly. I buy my daughter a lot of clothes and spend fairly extravagantly on her attire, but we will never shop here again. read more

Went into the store to look for a top I saw online. Walked around for about five minutes. Nobody said a word to me. Finally saw the top in the petite area so asked one of the sales people if they had it in the regular sizes and she scrunched her nose up with a snooty look and told me they sold out of it, I felt like it was Julia Robert seen from pretty woman as I wasn't dressed so great, but I definitely had the money to buy the shirt plus a lot more but after that attitude, I just left. read more

Jeanette at the Great Hills location is wonderful, and as a result of her help and kindness this is my favorite store for women's clothing. When I was shopping alone and uncertain of how certain outfits looked on me she offered to take photos so I could send them to my sister and friends to get their opinions. she made it a fun experience. read more

The employees in this store are consistently rude. I've honestly never been treated so poorly. It hasn't happened just once or twice. It is what I have come to expect. I have had the exact same experiences as so many other reviewers so I guess I'm glad that it's not just me. read more

I visited this store after Christmas to exchange a gift. When I walked in, the two saleswomen were sitting behind the front counter chatting to each other. They looked up when I came in, then went back to chatting. I originally wrote a long and much more detailed review, but here's what you need to know: This store has rude sales associates who don't smile or offer to help, no Talls available in store (but half a store of Petites), gave me a merchandise credit for a return that was unusable, and acted like they were doing me a huge favor to help me buy anything from their store. If I hadn't had a gift return I'd have never gone in there to begin with. My experience with this store convinced me I never need to go there again. read more

I love JJill and have worn their clothes almost exclusively for years. I was so excited when I moved to Austin a few months ago and saw that there was a JJill store here since I didn't have one where I lived before. However, the three times I have gone in this store I have to say it is the most uninviting JJill store I've ever visited. I am not greeted and the sales clerks are unfriendly even when I am purchasing. I can walk in the store and shop twenty minutes without even being acknowledged by a clerk. I got a 100 dollar gift card for Christmas and told my husband when I walked out on Saturday that I would wait till we went on vacation this summer to spend it. I have no intent of returning to this store. I wish someone from corporate office could be made aware of the clerks in this store so they could be replaced. They are costing JJill money. read more

I love JJill clothes but EVERY time I walk into this store, I'm never greeted, they never help me in the dressing room, and if there's any other customer that appears to be rich, they get the attention. I waited today for the sales lady to ring up my order and put my clothes in a bag while she waited on another customer coming out of the dressing room. Is it so hard to treat everyone the same? Maybe I just need to be old and rich to get any attention at this store. read more

I've bought several pieces at J Jill recently--tops, pants, scarves--and have been very pleased with all of them. In particular, I love the ponte pants. They have heavier fabric for cold days and have just the right amount of stretch. 100% comfortable. read more

I went in to buy a gift card and the looks one of the clerks gave me and my son were just plain rude. I walked out and won't be returning. Also, it doesn't surprise me that there are other similar reviews posted. Might be the same clerk. read more

I agree with the others about the clerks' attitudes, especially with returns. The salesperson who processed my recent return (with receipts and tags still on) acted like she was doing me a big favor. And, its not like I need or want someone to be phony or artificially friendly and chatty, just would like them to seem interested in helping. I actually do like their clothes, but the sales staff could definitely use some customer service training or at the very least act like they really want to be there. read more

I have not had any bad experience at the store, but have had with their company. I was very surprised at how expensive their shipping is. I tried to buy something in their store but they told me they were out of it. No offer to try to locate it, so I ordered it online...one item, lightweight pants---9.95 shipping! Then I was in the store the following week and they had the item in stock so I purchased it, thinking I could return the mail order when it came in since I needed them sooner, and J Jill is very slow on delivery. When I later took in the mail-order pants, they told me that I could not get a refund on the postage. I explained that I had been in their store and they were out of them originally and did not say they would be getting more in, Well, apparently you have to know enough to ask them to order for you---then there is no charge! (Or, 5.95 if it is a sale item). How does that make any sense? Do it in the store (taking their time from other customers) and get it free, or do it on line...expensive! They suggested that I call the company and ask for a refund which I did. I got such a third degree on the 'phone, I was amazed! I did get this "one time courtesy refund" after the woman said "I see you ordered a different item last week from the store, so you must have known they could order it for you". I said, well, I asked about whether they could order it for me, and was told yes so I did. I explained that was not the case wth the original order. What a turn off! I have decided to stop doing business with them until they have better shipping rates. The ladies in the store have always been nice to me, so maybe they have a new crew. I enjoy going in, and they are always happy to help you without being pushy. read more

I love the clothes at J. Jill, and I used to love shopping there. However, in the last year or so, some of the sales people have left, and as some of the other reviews have stated, the people who are there now are less than pleasant at times. There have been a few times when I've actually had to go interrupt a personal conversation to ask for help - and I was the ONLY customer in the store! (And yes, the lady with the silver hair chose to ignore me, too, and she has been there for years, and used to be great.) It used to be that you were greeted when you came in, asked if you needed any help, and after you had picked out an item or two, a salesperson would offer to set up a dressing room for you. Once you were in there, she would check in on you often to see if you wanted another size, color, etc. Not anymore! You're on your own! I'll still shop there since I love the clothes; I just won't expect good customer service. It's too bad, really, because the staff used to be wonderful. Hopefully upper management will read this and act accordingly. read more

Will never return to this store, and the one female employee who left such a terrible impression (wish I had a name, but she had short silver hair) has really turned us off to JJill as a business. They lock the door 10 minutes before closing time and make it very uncomfortable (they are, in fact, rude) for the customer who happens to be in the store 5 minutes before closing. Even if the customer has a quick return and has no intention of overstaying. read more

I called the store this morning after seeing something on line. If they had it in stock I would prefer to drive over. The lady that answered the phone said she was busy and could she call me back. She was very abrupt. I would have said, "I will be happy to help you in a moment but can you hold please". She needs customer service/phone training. read more

I was just in J Jill and noticed that NOTHING was made in the USA! Shame on J Jill. I refuse to buy anything made in China as they are taking over our retail market and no one is paying attention. I did buy a top made in Peru. But I sure would like to see less Made In China and more Made in the USA! read more

This is for the Austin store at Aboretum...I have stopped shopping here... I used to go in after work sometimes and always felt like they assumed I had no money, was just browsing or wasn't worth being helped. Then as they see the clothes I'm holding pile up more and more they come over and offer to asssit me... or they finally get friendly and helpful when I put my heaping pile of clothes at the register and pull out my 500 gift card. I have always felt judged when I go in there and I have shopped at J Jill almost 25 years. I have just stopped going after a particularly nasty exchange...I had gone in and had 500 in gift cards because my birthday is a week after Xmas and I always ask for JJill gift cards for Xmas and birthday...then contribute from my own bank card whatever I went over.this is a huge deal for me and I get a whole new set of business attire..so I spent about 650 that day....5 mins later in the car I was looking at a pair of earrings I had just bought and they broke.literally after I had just picked them up..I went back in and very apologetically showed them the earrings and the lady' response Was to show me another pair and offer to ring them up for me....Are you freaking kiddding me! After what I just spent here and had for 5 mins in my possession......I have never gone back....the one at the Aboretum is the absolute worst. I am tired of being ignored by their sales staff..... read more
