I went into the store 5 minutes before it closed to confirm if it had a suit in a certain size so I could determine whether to come back the next day to try on. When I asked if i could confirm if the store had a suit in a certain size, the gentleman confirmed for me that they had it in stock but also offered to let me try it on to confirm fit and size. I told him that I really did not want to have them keep the store open beyond their hours. Phillip said I was in the store before it closed and there was no issue. He then took his time to help me find the right suit , letting me try different styles and sizes. I never felt rushed and he took his time in making sure I was able to make the right selection. First off excellent quality t shirts and boxers. This man appreciates them, and I almost always go with these. The problem is the rest of their clothes. Am approaching AARP age, so these styles are for a younger bracket. Personally I'm not a fan, and I also think they are overpriced. Yet to each their own. Best time is sale time. J Crew corporate isn't clear always about their upcoming sales. I wish they'd follow Macys style more. Yet I am grateful they make solid boxers and t shirts. Just where I was headed and I noted full price items were 40 percent off. Perfect as I had an exchange to make and I could holiday shop too. Wrong. You're greeted with a large fan TRYING to blow away the overwhelming glue smell in the store. I Asked if someone could help me but the reply was "we are under staffed ". WOW. Decided to just return my order instead of an exchange. Waited in the line of 4 before me all also returning items. The store looks nice but the limited staff aren't very professional or happy to have customers. Don't waste your time. I also agree that the Tysons Galleria is the best location of J.Crew in the DC area. It's kinda annoying that it's in the Galleria instead of the other Tysons since then you have to drive over to the other one if you want to go to H&M, etc, but the atmosphere and staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The sale section is always great and I can't come into here without leaving with something adorable! I hope more locations with open up, especially world wide! My experience at this store is horrible. I felt offended by the associate Sara. She was so mean and rude!!!!!I picked up my online purchase at this store on Monday late afternoon and I went again for return on Wednesday afternoon around 2pm when I got off from work. One of the blouse's material, I purchased, was not the quality as I expected and its sewing finish was extremely bad. That's why I decided to return it. When I told Sara that I wanted to return it, she asked me the reason for return, and I explained those issues with the purchase kindly, but she asked me again "Did you wear it?" with such a rude voice and suspicious look while she was checking the blouse. I believe she didn't even listen to me(the reason for return)!!! I am still feeling so bad with the experience! I highly recommend that the store manager has her go through retraining and service education process. read more

I appreciate being noticed for once, as opposed to the icy glaze that comes from sales staff at other boutiques in the Galleria (just because I'm not decked out in Chanel and platform heels doesn't mean I'm too poor to shop here, you quick-to-judge salesmen!). This is my favorite JCrew store in the area. I am here at least once or twice a week because it's a convenient stop on the way home. I have had the best luck finding things I like in this store. Details - - - - Store: clean, nice, and open. It just feels less chaotic than other JCrew stores I've been to. Location: Inside the mall across from LOccitane and adjacent from Legal Seafood. Closest entrance/parking is through Macys or downstairs of Legal Seafood. Inventory: usually a decent amount of items in stock. Tho, smaller sizes tend to go fast (womens clothes). Lighting: Sufficient, not too bright, not too dim. Temperature: Good. The store is not too cold. Dressing rooms are not too warm or stuffy. Which is nice. Nothing like sweating in the clothes you're about to buy. Display: everything always looks good, put together, and in place. Main areas for bags, shoes, jewelry and accessories are immediately on the right hand side when you enter the store. Womens clothing is in the main front area and takes up 70% of the store I would say. Back left of the store are men's clothing, and back right is more women's clothing and sale items. Dressing rooms: clean, big mirrors. Mirrors don't look distorted like some stores. There are two areas for dressing. Some in the front of the store, and some in the back of the store. SA's: SA's are friendly, some of them too friendly, they do not leave you alone and let you shop. Most of the time if you seem like you know what you're looking for and don't make eye contact, they tend to leave you alone. If you need help shopping they are very good at helping with ideas on how to style clothes or accessories. I've worked with Val who is very good and Jacki who has been helpful in the past. Best time to visit: week days in the evening or early after work. Also good for: - picking up the new catalog, this store usually has catalogs and new rollout pretty early. - styling inspirations since the SA's tend to dress pretty well and current to the store's most recent catalog/inventory. If you are a J.Crew addict like I am, then you will appreciate this review. I have been to J.Crews all over this great nation and this was one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I have ever had. Why do you ask was my experience so good? Well, let me tell you... 1) The store is huge! Which means... 2) The selection is huge! (clothes, shoes, jewelry)- they have lots of gift items, CrewCuts, and a large sale area, which included accessories/jewelry. I got the best pair of pants on sale. The sale area also actually had some sizes in between 00 and 12. 3) Upon arrival the manager greeted us and offered us bottles of water. He promptly took clothes to a dressing room for me and arranged for a staff member to work with me once I got settled in the dressing room. 4) The woman who helped me in the fitting room was wonderful. She was very attentive, but not overly. This is certainly the best J.Crew in the D.C. Metro area. The selection is great and the staff members make you feel like you are the only customer shopping. read more

I will preface this by saying I can only speak to the Men's Shop, which is actually a separate shop just across from the main store, which only carries women's and kid's clothes. I like J Crew a lot, generally, but was really blown away by the customer service here. I came in looking for a tuxedo for prom, and while the shop was a bit small and thus didn't have any in my size and preferred style, the sales associate was extremely helpful in searching all the nearby stores for the tux I wanted, and then putting those on hold. In the meantime, he helped me try on the sizing of the tux with their Ludlow suit collection, which has the same cut. He did all this while there were plenty of other shoppers in the store who likely were older than I and more likely to spend more money, something that I'm very grateful for as a teenager who is often ignored by CS people. It doesn't hurt that all the employees look fly as hell too -- and creatively so. read more

This is the best J. Crew in the area. It's seems to be the only one with a full men's collection and extra-small men's sizes. From what the Sales Associates and Personal Shoppers say, it's actually in transition of becoming one of the "high-end" J. Crews, they should start carrying their full line of suits and "catalog only" items. About the Sales Associates, they do sometimes come on strong but they are helpful and are excellent at giving suggestions. One Personal Shopper/ Sales Associate in particular, Ian, is extremely helpful and probably helped me build half of my wardrobe. He is the main reason why I shop at this J. So I was in line first, the only one in line, waiting to return something. When the person at the counter was done, I stepped up to the counter, then was told that I had to wait because there was only one line (which was formed in a different lane AFTER I was already waiting). There was no sign whatsoever. They just made up one and told me to wait after others because I was not in the right invisible line, regardless that I was the ONLY one in line for a bit before other people. So, if you are not a majority or dressed up rich, then wait to be treated like second class citizen here, regardless how much money you have spent in this store. I guess it was my fault for not dressing up like I'm going to a black tie party just to go return something. read more

Every time I visit this J. Crew, I wonder why I bother, because every experience has been completely underwhelming. First of all - I don't think I have been greeted once upon entering the store, and I've probably been here 15 times at least (work in one of the buildings attached to the mall). Once or twice is a fluke, more than that is a pattern of bad customer service. I have left without making a purchase multiple times because it seems the employees couldn't care less if I bought anything or not. Secondly - the selection of merchandise is limited and seems bland. Other J. Crews in the area, and even the J. Crew factory, have significantly more merchandise I'd actually like to wear. The customer service at J. Crew needs some work. I received a pair of shoes as a gift. Apparently, you can't exchange them even for the price on the website, without having a receipt. I don't know of any other store that does this. Given their struggles over the years and the deterioration of their brand, you would think there would be better customer service. The sales staff were interested if you were wealthy enough to travel and need resort wear. I had a simple return from another JCrew as I had traveled and had the receipt. They did take the return - I had spent almost $500 on my sons spring clothes and the girl who processed my return acted as if the entire transaction was beneath her. There was no one else in line. I was buying nothing else. But didn't even consider it given her approach. Too bad for them because when I was in vineyard vines just looking at one thing I left $900 later and four bags of clothing for my sons winter clothes. read more

Tired of driving over to this J. Crew and finding nothing in smaller sizes for men's clothing.

I went to this location because I received some shoes in the mail that had been damaged in transit, and they had a pair in stock to exchange. This is a terrific Jcrew! They had a wonderful selection of women's and children's clothing (didn't check out the menswear), and the clearance rack was also pretty tidy and satisfying (I do love clearance racks). The salespeople were very friendly and helpful, and absolutely didn't mind that I had my young child with me--they treated her very nicely as well. I've been in other Jcrews in this area (it's probably one of my favorite brands) but I had felt disappointed at the lack of selection, which I found odd, and I had also been basically ignored by the staff who seemed aloof and bored. They had a great selection and were happy to help me find everything I needed (and some suggestions for things I didn't but wanted regardless). I agree with the other poster that this is probably the best J Crew store in the area. Maybe it's because it's in the Galleria? I actually used to avoid this particular store because I rather dislike the snooty air of the Galleria in general, but I've had a couple good experiences at this J Crew, so I think I'll keep coming back... and it's now the closest to me anyway. The store is pretty well-stocked, and the layout is nice. What I've really liked, though, are the assistants. My anecdote: I went there a month or so ago to specifically look at one pair of pants. When I tried them on, I was wavering--I thought I liked them, but was having trouble because they looked weird with the clothes I'd worn in. I told the assistant my concern... she was gone for a minute and brought back shoes, a sweater, a blazer, a belt and a necklace to try on with the pants. I only had budgeted for the pants, so that's what I bought, but I left with a solid idea of how to make them work. Yay! This is probably an above and beyond example, but in general, I've found the assistants to be very good at their jobs--friendly, attentive but not overly so, and willing to go that extra mile to help. read more

I am in agreement that the Tyson's location is the best in the area. I often shop on Tuesday evening's because most other days and nights are busy. This location has the best and the most product in the area. The sale area is the biggest. I came in one Tuesday evening in a panic as I had cleaned out my closet completely on a whim...I had no clothes and a major business trip to attend the following week. My new Personal Shopper, Adelaide helped me beyond what I expected. I left knowing exactly how to pack my suitcase and coordinate outfits without taking a lot. I was also directed on how to coordinate every piece I was purchasing so that when I had to dress myself it was a no brainer. She even took pictures! How wonderful is that. Adelaide was very patient with me and took time to listen to my needs. She filled every one and then some! I highly recommend her and the support staff. Whatever we needed they were right there to help. Oh, and a week later, I received a thank you card in the mail. No store has ever bothered. Nice experience! read more

Jackie is hands down the best personal stylist in the world. I scheduled an appointment with her and said I was looking for business casual clothes for a new job. When I arrived she had about a dozen outfits pulled for me with accessories. She showed me how to pair things and dress up basics with fun necklaces. She picked out things I never would have thought to try on. Everything looked great and was exactly what I was looking for. read more

Nice clothes but the worst customer service I've experienced in a long while. I asked for petite sizes when I walked in and was told they could only be found online. So I asked for short or ankle length and got pointed to a table but no offer to find my size. Wandered into the back and found a bunch of petite sizes. Started picking out clothes and finally had to ask if they had a basket or some way I could put my clothes down so I could keep looking. Nick offered to start a fitting room finally. Told me his name and let him know if I needed anything but he never came back to check on me nor did any of the other sales associates for that matter. I had to keep coming in and out to change out sizes and colors. Spent about an hour and a half there. Spent $500. I doubt these people work on commission but maybe they should so they would be more helpful. I spent 20 years in the retail industry and taught customer service. Everyone in there deserved to be fired. Or at the very least they need training and need to be held accountable. read more
