Zac one of the sales associates is amazing! He went above and beyond to help my husband get fitted for a suit, and his attention to detail really made the difference. Zac was not only incredibly helpful, but also had a great sense of style himself--which gave us confidence in the advice he offered. He was extremely knowledgeable about the store's products and took the time to walk us through different options for everything from suits to shoes to accessories. We ended up purchasing an entire look--suit, shoes, and tie--and Zac guided us through every step with patience and professionalism. What stood out the most was how warm, kind, and attentive he was. He treated us with more care and respect than even the store manager, which says a lot about his commitment to great customer service. If you're shopping at Banana Republic, definitely ask for Zac. Customer service here has become mid. My last experience here was amazing and I really wanted to buy more. This time maybe the team was tired because it is a holiday weekend, but close to check out I interacted with two different team members and they literally just stared at me including the person who checked me out. At the counter, I asked how she was doing because I assumed something bad happened to people at the store, but she just returned the greeting. Very meh. The employees at this location are extremely rude. I was trying to return a purchase I made online through the Banana Republic outlet website, as per the instructions I received in my order email, which stated that online orders should be returned to regular BR stores rather than the outlet stores. Apparently those instructions were inaccurate or poorly written, because they refused to accept my return. I understand that employees aren't responsible for company policies, but the two women who "assisted" me were extremely rude and condescending, and acted like I didn't belong in the store because I had purchased something from the outlet site. Both refused to answer my questions or offer suggestions for how to solve the issue. One refused to even look at the original receipt code. I am a regular customer at Banana Republic and will no longer be recommending the Tyson's location to friends. read more

I've been frustrated by Banana Republic and their lack of variety at multiple stores. HOWEVER, when I went to the counter to exchange a pair of pants I recieved for Christmas I was greeted with a smile by Kristen. Despite my troubles in finding the right pair of pants, Kristen was extremely kind and patient. She helped me look online to find the exact pair I wanted- and it was a great price! Just a really weird experience. I've worn the basic white v-neck undershirts from Banana Republic for over ten years. I love the quality and fit of the product. I walk into this location and literally cannot find out where the men's clothes begin and the women's clothes end. It's like this store purposefully had their store laid out in an ambiguous manner. Like everything seemed to be jumbled together. I ask this dude at the store where the men's clothes are and he just kinda motions with this hands and says, "they're all right here!" I'm looking at the area that he's motioning to and it looks like a selection of clothes from Lane Bryant. I do a complete lap of the store looking for the t-shirts, can't find any! Even the kids clothes were kinda randomly interspersed through out the store. WTF Banana Republic?!?! I might try to find these shirts online (might), but I definitely won't come back to this location. read more

At 5'4, I'm not exactly considered to be petite, so I don't buy pants from here unless I want to wear high-waters (which I don't) Staff member Rauksanna helped me quite a few times when I needed guidance. I wanted to write a review to personally recognize an employee at the store who provided absolutely exceptional service. The employee's name was Maria. I went on a Saturday and had four separate challenging transactions to process and Maria was extremely patient, helpful and persistent in making sure that everything went through properly. First, I had to exchange a suit. Second, I purchased a new suit. Third, I had to have an order that was on clearance drop shipped from another store (as you could not order it online) in Texas which was done over the phone with Maria's assistance. Last, I needed to have two pairs of pants that were not in stock in my size mailed from their warehouse. Once again I could not process that transaction on the website due to a promotional code that would not work unless you were in the store. The store was extremely busy and the line literally grew to over 30 people long due to to the delay I was causing. However, due to the banana republic website and the old iPods the employees needed for processing each transaction, it became quite quite challenging. I was extremely grateful for how much she helped me and made sure that everything was successfully done. Separate from this, I think the store is definitely one of the better banana republics. It is not quite as large as the one in Manhattan however there is still a very decent selection of both men's and women's clothes from casual to formal. A week ago, I went here with a friend of mine and immediately after we stepped in, well, we did not get greeted at all! Now that is some bad customer service! There were sales associates walking around, doing NOTHING (it was a Monday, so it was a slow day for them). This is one of my favorite BR's ever! They've got just about everything that the website has, as well as 3 jewelry cases, walls and racks of shoes and handbags, a large sale section in the back (who can beat BR's sales?) and lots of sales people working the floor. The only drawback is how busy it gets. Given that they're located in Tyson's, you can't blame 'em. But the past two Saturday afternoons, I've waited with a shoe in my hand (an unmistakable sign of "HELP ME!") unable to find an available employee for about 10 minutes. I am so grateful that BR has a Petite store! It's hard to find clothes that fit perfectly when you have a small body frame. Petite - "are based on height, not weight. It doesn't only apply to women 5'4 and shorter." It is about proportion and BR's petite collection is adjusted to fit our figure. Tip: If you're shirt sleeves, or pant legs are always too long, then you may need to wear a Petite size. Customer Service: There are only a three or four BR Petitie stores in the country and we've got one right here in Tyson's Corner mall. If you want good service, ask for Pilar. She is very friendly and helpful! Lately though, I found that they have new employees. Most of them are real snobby - not sure if that's part of the new look or attitude of the store, but it's not very welcoming. The manager who I spoke with on the phone and in person seemed cold for someone who is in customer service. In addition, I was there last week and I gave one of the attendants my clothes to put in the fitting room. All of a sudden, they were all gone!! They could not find the number of dresses I picked from the store to try on. That was really strange. Anyway, kudos for Pilar for making my time at BR Petites a pleasant one! I was able to find a dress for my cousin's wedding and the dress for my sister's wedding. Overall: BR Petites is a great store for classic, feminine style. read more

Customer service is seriously lacking at this location. Do not expect any proactive assistance in the fitting room. It is a limited selection, not a lot of variety or sizes. Unfortunately no shoes so if you are looking you will need to go the Banana Republic on the other side of the mall. I happen to love Banana Republic clothing! I also like this particular store because they tend to carry items that other BR stores don't have, or no longer carry. I over heard a loud woman expressing her dissatisfaction for another BR branch because they don't carry the Heritage line of clothing anymore. This store has Heritage clothing, as well as a good variety of other clothing (for both men and women). I've personally never went to the women's "side" of the store so I don't know whether they have a good selection of stuff, but I can say that the men have many options to choose from. I highly recommend you sign up for their newsletter because they do have sales that go on occasionally. Just the last week they had a 40% sale off of EVERYTHING in the store. I wouldn't have known if I didn't sign up for the newsletter and received an email. You don't need to sign up for their credit card if you don't want to, but at least give your email so you can get the scoop on sales. The people are overall helpful, if they don't know something they'll look into it. Good selections of clothing, and if you're lucky they have killer sales. read more

This is a nice Banana Republic in Tysons 1 - and are better than other BRs around. Though their selection is better than other Banana Republics that I have been to (except one in Georgetown, DC), their service levels have left me wanting for more. I feel the sales people at this store are always busy helping among themselves and unless you have 10 items in your hand to try/ buy, they really don't care for you as a shopper! This elitist attitude, if I can call it that, really puts me off :( read more

This BR is big! Selection is great... they had almost every size in everything I looked at which is rare.

Overall: This one is bigger than most in the area so the selection is better... but a Banana Republic is a Banana Republic. Service: I had no trouble getting help finding a sweater I was looking for. As a former BR sales associate - PLEASE ask for help, dont go rummaging through a huge pile of perfectly folded sweaters. Ok, I'll get off my soap box. Selection: This one appears to have the entire women's line. Tip: I always say, wait for it to go on sale! If you keep your eye out, you can get some amazing deals. read more

Lauren did a great job going above and beyond helping me when I came there yesterday (12/28). I drove up from Richmond for a field jack that wasn't available in my area. I originally was given incorrect information from another team member about the availability of the field jacket. Lauren did a good job of doing a thorough research job and she was able to locate the field jacket at another location and set up shipping for me. I had high hopes for this store, but honestly I wasn't impressed. I still ending up spending a good bit of money here, but I always do at Banana Republic! The concept is awesome, but the store is really small. Also, I found that I couldn't find my size in pants, even though this is a store for petites! I know the Sloan ankle pants are popular, so I guess from now on I'll have to shop online. I'd try here again for tops or dresses, but for pants I'm not going to get my hopes up. The service is okay. So whenever I'm in town, I love to shop at this mall and BR is one of my favorite stores. But my experience at this store was pretty bad... mostly due to this one girl. I think her name was Betty? Anyways, she rubbed me the wrong way when I was trying to use the fitting rooms, she made me feel like I was annoying her by breathing the same air. Then when I went up to the register, she followed close behind and seemed really eager to check all my purchases before scanning them. At first I thought she may have mistaken me as a shop lifter by how angry her face looked but soon found out it was because of this stupid store card you guys promote. Another girl had come up saying that it was her register and Betty could go back to the fitting rooms but she snapped back saying she could handle it. Do you guys let your employees talk to each other like this? I felt bad for the other girl, she kind of slinked away so I wonder if she had her feelings hurt. Anyways, this Betty continued to be short with me the entire transaction when I tried to make nice conversation so I just sort of stopped talking to her. But when she asked for me to get that store card and I said no, she literally stamped her foot and whined! I know these stores have some harsh quotas for their employees but someone needs to talk to her and others like her on how to behave in front of customers! This was outright childish. I have been a Banana Republic cardholder for years and nearly cut mine up after my last visit to this store. The rude manager with an inferiority complex refused to return an unworn item that I had a receipt for because the purchase had been more than 30 days. Knowing the typical BR policy for returns over 30 days is to issue a merchandise voucher for the current selling price of the item, I called corporate to inquire about this store's policy. She explained that they were grossly misinterpreting it and is refunding my money. It's a shame people feel like they have to exert what little authority they have and can't follow a simple policy. read more

As a petite woman it is certainly hard to find clothes that fit well. As a customer, it is also certainly hard to find customer service that is friendly and attentive. At Banana Republic Petites you will find a solid collection of work clothes but the customer service will be lackluster at best. This is a shame because their clothes are nice but the lack of friendly customer service is so off putting that I find myself actively not wanting to enter the store. The Management will see a lot more traffic if they worked on implementing a warm and welcoming vibe at their store. read more

This is one of the few free-standing petites stores in the country. Having seen much better (as in the holy grail store in Chestnut Hill, MA!) -- I can only give this location 3 stars. I find it a tad small with a limited selection, and customer service can be hit or miss. (A huge shout-out to Uma though who got an A+ for her helpfulness today though!) Still, it's definitely a place for us petites to keep our eyes on -- particularly for business or business casual work separates in neutral colors. read more

I love that there is a separate store and that it's small so not too overwhelming and the selection is still pretty good. They tend to have a lot of sales many of which are targeted at credit card holders. Tip: get a BR card if you shop here often. I have never written a Yelp review for a corporation, but as a former employee of Gap Inc. and other retailers, I have to mention my less than exemplary treatment at this particular location. I took a pair of pants bought at another BR to this store on Friday, December 9th to have them hemmed. The slip (and the very nice guy who pinned them) told me they would be ready on Friday, December 16th but I waited until Sunday to come get them. I have had pants hemmed at BR several times before, and have never been treated so rudely. I realize it is the Christmas season and everyone is very busy, but rude behavior isn't acceptable. I managed to snag a store employee, show her my receipt for $10 and my tailoring slip, asking if I needed to wait in the line at the register to get my pants or she could point me in the right direction. She acted extremely annoyed and was quite curt, but finally went to look for my pants. She said the "pants aren't here" and did I call in advance (as in "did you bother?") and reminded me that it was the holiday season. What she said was not wrong, but her tone of voice was confrontational and I'm not sure why. I worked customer service for years, and there's really no excuse. BR offers a hemming service and I've used it several times at stores all over the U.S. Perhaps I should have called, but I have never had to in the past. Pentagon City will actually go get the clothing from the tailor if they're not delivered on time. This employee shuffled through a couple racks behind the register and again informed me that "they aren't here." I was not offered any option but to "come back later" until another man took over. Finally I got a solution--walk over to the tailor and get the pants myself. This was fine, as I could see the Tyson's store was VERY busy. I asked a couple of times where my receipt went, as it was folded within the tailoring receipt I gave to the woman. No one offered to go look for it, since she must have dropped it. My pants were hemmed improperly, and now I have no receipt and will have to take it to my personal tailor--something I could have done in the first place. Love BR's clothes, but this store doesn't need my business. read more

But god forbid you should have to return something! My father purchased a pair of mislabeled jeans. Tag read 31'' inseam but measured 29''. Granted it was well after the return date, but the pants were defective! If it was just him being picky, I could understand. I went here on a Saturday and, obviously, it was very busy (Saturday+Tyson's Corner+big sale=very busy). However, I had a fitting room started for me once I had a couple of things in my hand. There were no shortage of people asking me if I was doing ok or there to answer my questions about the sale as I wandered around. Once I got to the fitting room, which was clean and ready to go with my stuff, several employees were there to help too. With the help of several people, I purchased a lot more than I intended to when I walked in. The people were fantastic, the store looked amazing, the sale was great, and, as always, the quality of the products exceeds standards. read more
