I'm a fan of the wine & cupcake tasting that happens here at J&P winery every couple of months! It's reasonably priced and you get to sample 6 different wines, along with three different flavored cupcakes from a local bakery (actually one of my favorite bakeries in Annville!). The winery itself is very laid back. It's actually placed in someone's backyard which I think is pretty cool. As for the wine, it's ok, but don't base it on my own personal opinion as I only really like very dry wines, and this winery has more sweet wines. The price is right and makes for a great girl's day outing or even a nice date night idea! read more

I'm so sorry but this place is GOD AWFUL. I don't give out a lot of 1 star reviews on yelp unless it's horrifying. And I feel bad because it's a family owned business but they really need to know because it was the "before" in an episode of a Gordon Ramsey makeover show. I don't even need to comment on the decor, which is the least of their worries. It is designed in a sort of nursing-home-in-a-horror-movie motif. That's the best way I can describe it. But know what, I've been to a lot of places that lacked on decor and excelled in flavor. This is not one. The wines. The wines are shockingly horrifying. Like, if you like Barefoot White Zinfandel, you would like this place. All of the wines are sweet. Even the ones they call dry are sweet. I couldn't drink them. I took a beer out of their fridge instead, thank god. And the only reason I took a beer (it was a philly beer by the way) was because my mom ordered some jalapeno poppers to split. OH MY GOD I'M LUCKY TO STILL BE ALIVE. The poppers were maybe frozen to microwaved? They tasted horrible. Sooooooooo gross and slimy and grrroooosssssssss. But then I tried them in the cheese sauce AND IT WAS EVEN WORSE! I even was like "the cheese tastes off" and they said "its nacho cheese it's supposed to taste like that." Dude. I've eaten nacho cheese from dirty bowling alleys, knowing full well I'm probably going to get hepatitis or something from licking the cheese of my germy bowling ball fingers, that tasted 400x better than this rancid cheese. If their objective was to leave me with an unforgettable experience, well, job well done. read more

I don't know what the fuck I just drank at this place tonight, but it wasn't good. Had 2 tastings total with my wife with 12 different "wines" or whatever the fuck that was and every single one of them instantly became the worst "wine" we've ever had. Stay the fuck away. I happened upon the j & p winery on my weekend trip to Gettysburg Pennsylvania. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable. Elmer and Jocelyn took the time to explain the local wines and there were 53 to choose from. There is a parking lot in the side road next to the winery that has up to 3 hours right behind the candy store. Relaxed atmosphere and you definitely want to try the sangria. I am sorry to see that I am the first to post a review of this tasting room. I only say this because I can only imagine if any person with a palette more refined than a pestering horsefly would have already adding a caution to the wind to AVOID this place. I refer to a horse fly only because the taste of all the wines reminds me of a fermented bowl of fruit in August. There is ample table space to grab a glass of wine... or the single beer on tap that they offer. The wine bar is small for the 42 varieties that they offer. That is no exaggeration. I waited about 10 minutes while a few large groups of people stood and sampled. It would have been nice to be given the list of actual wines available to peruse through, or maybe acknowledged. Never the less, the woman who was simply a friendly pourer of wine, handed me a menu of wines that I had never heard of. I had multiple questions, all of which she had ask another non owner. I chose all day reds and whites along with an semi fruit blackberry and ice wine, which I only see in New England. The first three samples were free... add five more for $5.00. I should have seen the red flags, but hey, they are newer so I'll take a good deal. Oh how I wish I passed. I was poured all reds first and after I made a dry joke about being served backwards, the woman didn't understand. I can't express enough how repulsive these wines are. I had the Chambourcin and Chancellor which were their dry reds. Overly sweet and watery... tastes like a sweet red left in a backseat for a month, opened. The whites were all room temp and sweet. The only flavor that did not turn my nose was the blackberry which was a fine, pleasant SWEET dessert wine listed as semi dry. The ice wine was also palatable. I will just say that the Seyval Blanc smelled like stagnant cat urine and tasted of what I imagine it tastes like. So unpleasant. read more

Was a nice a comfy face. I liked the laidback atmosphere. The slushees were really good and their grapeliscious wines were really yummy! I will say my visit this year was not as good as last. They changed their taste methods to beakers and I was disappointed in that. Cheeses and meats were good. read more

I didn't know anything about this place, but I was going to give it a chance. I did a tasting and a variety of reds. I also had a taste of the sangria, it was tasty. I spent the afternoon with Christie, she was a VAST amount of knowledge. I asked about everything from local tours to dining options. Her knowledge about the wine was also detailed. I had 3 glasses there and got 2 bottles for my room! So, stop by and do a tasting, you MIGHT find something that you'll like! read more

I've been to a lot of wineries and this by far was the worse. The wine was old and tasted that way. Served in test tubes which seems odd. Music entertainment did not show up. Wines did not match list we ordered. Example Merlot was Rose color and sweet. When I questioned the waitress she says "I don't know much about wine". Really at a winery. Snacks were served in paper medicine cups and about 2 chips. I ordered starving and it never came. Never again! We paid and left read more

I though this winery was pretty good, overall. All of their wines were a little on the sweeter side which means I liked more of their dry wines than I typically do and their sweet wines were SWEET. There was sediment in almost every glass of wine we tried, but it didn't affect the taste at all, just the texture. We did a flight...3 wines for free and 5 more for $5. We did have to ask to have our glasses rinsed between tastes. Staff was friendly. They were super busy throughout the day due to being there for the Christmas festival so they were out of some wines and some food, but we had a nice experience. Staff wasn't particularly knowledgeable about the wine selections, but we are not connoisseurs by any stretch of the imagination...we just enjoyed our wine and relaxed in the open atmosphere with plenty of seating. The bar area was small so, if it would have been busy, we may have had quite a wait, but we were there in the early evening and enjoyed a quiet space. read more

First of all, I'm no connoisseur of wine. I know what I like, but also willing to try new flavors. My husband and I were with a small group going around Gettysburg wine tasting. We came into this establishment and we're seated at the tables. We were all handed a list of wines. No taste discription for any of them. We made our list and gave it to our server. Two people in our group only wanted a soda. (Explanation later) While waiting I overheard the other server giving discription of the flavors of the wines and making small talk with the customers at her table. Our server didn't ask /offer any discription. Meanwhile, our young server came back and sat 2 cans of soda on the table, no glasses. The other server, gave a glass with the soda to a young man with his parents. Our server messed up our wine order so bad, giving me two of the same and another person's order. She couldn't keep it all straight. No one in our group liked or purchased any of their wines. Overall bad experience!! read more
