Toby and Tony were over to deep feed and spray insecticide on my trees, both deciduous and coniferous trees and shrubs in my yard and my neighbors, about 30 total. Not sure what happened during the last 2 weeks but check out two +10 year old Amur Maples that have never been any color but yellow. Thought I had purchased wrong variety. Diagnosed struggling Oak Leaf Mountain Ash (Zone 7 ish) as planted in a very HOT spot. The bark had split in a couple places. Will wrap trunk to prevent scalding this winter. May need to replace with a tall desert Juniper. Doing my part to reduce global warming by keeping my trees leafy and green. Chlorophyll converts CO2 to O2. read more

Imagine my shock this morning when I find two strangers in my backyard. These guys had been hired by my neighbor to trim branches, but instead of asking for access, they just let themselves in. WTF. When I confronted them, they claimed they had knocked first yet both my wife and I were home, and no one had knocked. Their excuse? They said entering private property without consent was "standard practice" in their industry. The foreman, didn't apologize or take accountability. Instead, he acted like he had every right to trespass, dismissing my concerns as if I was the one in the wrong. This is completely unacceptable. You are not entitled to just "let yourself in" to someone's property because it's your job. Homeowners have the right to know who is on their property. You don't know if I have kids, pets, or even a legal means of protecting my home. The fact that this company considers trespassing "normal" speaks volumes about their business practices. read more

I have had J & J trim my trees several times. This year I had a major maintenance of all my trees and they did a wonderful job. I have used other tree trimmers in the past who did not do near as well as job and it really isn't worth saving a few bucks for a lousy job and that's why I came back and have stuck with J & J. Stay far away from this business. I called to schedule a service and after finding out I'm out of their area, the woman who answered the phone by the name of Lynn just hung up on me!! I left them a 2 star review on their Facebook page regarding their lack of customer service and I was attacked being told to 'get over myself.' I have never been so disrespected by a service company than this one. All I wanted was for them to acknowledge that it wasn't right that I was hung up on no matter how busy they are. Does Papa John's hang up on you on a busy day? Nope, but this one will. This customer doesn't know the basics of customer service and by the looks of this yelp page, I'm not the only victim. The day their crew showed up, they were ready for the battle. . .these trees hung over my neighbor's properties, power lines, my brand new roof and some very large, expensive skylights. J & J took great care to ensure there was no damage to anything, did a great job of trimming out all the dead wood, excess branches and shaped the trees beautifully. . .all with no disruption to the rest of the neighborhood. They worked hard all day long, and the clean up was exceptional. . .you couldn't even tell what had gone on all day once they left. . .not so much as even a small twig in my yard! From the owners to Lynn (who manages calls) to the large crew that did the work, they were all a pleasure to work with and I wouldn't even consider working with any other tree company in the future. My trees have leafed out and they are shaped so beautifully and looking so healthy that I am falling in love with them again after being scared to death every time a storm came along. J&J were hired by my HOA to trim some trees today. However, what we didn't know is that they would start work with four or five chainsaws at 8 A.M. Not everyone works a traditional schedule, and some of us are just getting off work at 5 or 6 A.M. and hoping for some rest. Sure, their start time just an hour clear of Denver's allowable 7 A.M. start for making noise, but 8 A.M., really? Not only that, but their workers were yelling super loud to hear each other over their chainsaws. The best/worst part was that there were two workers yelling profanity and actually making fun of tenants (who pay into the HOA that hired them) who were simply looking out their window to see what the noise was all about. They probably didn't think anyone would know what they were saying because it was in Spanish, but fortunately it's 2012, and there are more than a few of us gringo pendejos are fluent in Spanish. These guys are totally unprofessional and will make your tenants, neighbors, and anyone within earshot, dislike you for choosing them. read more

J&J Tree Care is in one word AWESOME. I've used J&J to trim my Silver Maples about 5 years ago. Recently I used another service to do some work and I wish I'd have used J& J for that job. I had scheduled J&J to come out and do some trimming of my bushes. They moved my service up about 2 weeks....how happy that was to my ears. I also had some tree damage that broke several limbs on my large silver maple. J&J said when they came out to do my bushes, they would estimate the cost and get it done when they came out. Didn't have to schedule another appointment for them to come out to take care of those broken limbs. I'd highly recommend J&J for any of your tree care or shrub care. read more

One rule as a homeowner is that when you need trees trimmed, you need to not be super cheap and hire a person who is not a liscened and insured arborist. Two reasons for this 1. If they do not know what they are doing they can jepordize the health of your trees. 2. It is an extremely dangerous job and if they are not liscened and insured and someone gets hurt and or property damage you could be sued! That being said, J and J came to my house and did a superb job at trimming two huge D-town style trees and removing a small tree. They also cleaned up nicely. All at affordable and fair prices! Did a great job trimming our very large linden last year, extremely reasonably priced and came when they said they would.

I scheduled a bid with J & J Tree Care at the beginning of the week and they booked me for an 8am time slot to come out and see my trees on Thursday. The woman who helped me was very helpful and kind and I was glad they were able to come out within the week! On Wednesday though, I received a phone call and voicemail from a blocked number and it was John, the owner. He left a rude message about how they are not taking new customers and would not be there the next morning at 8am. Considering I'd been booked with them for 3 days, this was unprofessional and disappointing. Needless to say, I went with another company and won't be waiting until J & J has time for new customers. read more

You want to think twice before you hire these guys if you live in a townhouse. You want to think 86 times before you hire these guys if you live in a townhouse AND have a grumpy neighbor. Here's what happened. Called them around 1st of August. Made an appointment. Promised that I will be contacted before they come to my place. They came. They saw . They left an envelop. (450 dollars) Called again to get another quote as I'd like the trees behind MY yard done only. Made another appointment. Promised that I will be contacted before they came to my house. They came. They saw. They left another envelop. (350 dollars) I figured I'm never gonna meet the guys in person. So I went ahead and called the lovely lady on the phone to gave them the go ahead. Promised again that I WILL BE F**KING CONTACTED BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE. Then I realized these trees (that are in violation of Denver city code) are not mine. So I figured I don't have to worry about them. This happened on 6th. On 8th of August. I found mine AND 2 of my neighbors' trees were pruned. (4 of us live in a quadplex) And to my horror, I saw a bill of 350 dollars. IN AN ENVELOP. Argued with them, and they said they will prune my other neighbor's tree for free so we can share the 350 dollar bill 4-ways instead of 3. Neighbor went berserk about me thinking about touching his "property". They (the tree company) offered another discount of 100 dollars. They say that 250 dollars is their minimum. Good thing is this time I met the owner in person. So now I'm stuck with a bill of 250 dollars. And I have to ask my neighbors for money that they did not agree to spend. Bottom line: Do not expect a lot of communication from them. Do not expect to spend less than 250 dollars. EDIT: The work was done on 8th of August, and last time I received a call from these guys was on 5th of August. Funny how the owner thinks I'm the one who's lying. Go to T mobile and check the record if you wish. Confused? Yes, BECAUSE THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION. Every time they just leave a envelop. I said I will be in the house waiting, and I was promised that I will be contacted by phone, which NEVER happened until AFTER the work is done. I made it crystal clear that I just want trees behind MY yard trimmed. It was THEM who trimmed trees that belonged to both me AND my neighbor. Had they called me before doing anything this wouldn't have happened. Matter of fact that is exactly what Swingle did, and it's one of their guys who helped us realize that the tree in violation actually belongs to my neighbor and thus nothing needs to be done on our part. They trimmed my neighbor's tree on my behalf without me being aware of it. And now the owner is calling me a liar. Ridiculous. I wonder why I paid these guys at all. (Not as if they are going to find me as I am selling the house and moving overseas.) I guess kindness does not always pay off. Unfortunately this is one of these cases. read more

I recently called three tree companies to get bids to remove 2 huge dead Pine Trees and 3 bushes. J&J came to my property the next day and have a VERY reasonable bid, which was actually less then I expected to pay. They got the job done three days later and the other companies hadn't even come out to give me a bid yet (one was the largest tree company in the state). And J&J did a FANTASTIC job, and their workers were very friendly. On the day they did the job I asked for a bid to trim 3 Cottonwood trees at another property. They said they'd be out Tuesday or Wednesday the next week. A couple days later an employee from one of the other companies came by regarding the first job I had called for a bid on. He commented that J&J has very good pricing (which was obvious to me by this time). He said to call his company after J&J does the Cottonwood bid IF I want another bid. J&J came out for the Cottonwood bid as promised. Again a great price and explained some facts about Cottonwoods and their growth etc that I wasn't aware of. They said they be out soon, day pending, to do the Cottonwood job. Bottom line...J&J is the only call you'll need to make. read more

They said they would be in my neighborhood on Friday and could do the work then. Went home Thursday evening and it was already done and cleaned up.
