    Buffalo wing-dings
    Hillary T.

An a-okay experience: I ordered the wing-dings and some pizzas - House Special (top) and Vegetarian Supreme (lower) - today! J&D Pizza had to be one of my favorite local spots - a long two minute walk from home. The gourmet pizza, the House Special, was a combo heaven! Pepperoni, hamburg, salami, sausage, ham, onions, peppers, mushrooms, anchovies, and tomato sauce (according to the menu via website) all on the pizza. Although the anchovies add a nice savory taste, I substituted for broccoli instead (to convince myself I'm eating healthy, but really). I've had a better House Special experience at J&D's, but I would still recommend the gourmet pizza. Keep the anchovies if you're feeling adventurous! Next, the vegetarian pizza. Not too many places I know offer lots of veggie options, so this was nice for my mom! Because it's pizza I had to steal a slice. Eggplant, mushrooms, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, artichokes, and tomato sauce made the veggie pizza. The artichoke and eggplant were quite bitter. Proportion wise, do expect a small to be a small. In other words, you could finish one tray by yourself (or share with one person if you feel generous. I don't think anyone does that). I found both pizza crusts to be dry and some slices to taste "uncooked." The spongy texture did throw me off. The wing-dings were okay. The buffalo sauce had a nice tang to it, but it didn't seem to coat the chicken. They weren't crispy as I hoped. Perhaps it is a personal preference. In terms of service, I have no complaints! The person who picked up the phone was patient and friendly. My order was placed and finished on time. Parking could be a bit tricky, but manageable. Maybe I'm a bad driver. Overall, I'm sure every local spot is doing their best right now. J&Ds has been here ever since I was born and you could say it's the top spot for many in Woonsocket! While I do believe there could have been improvements, I'm hoping the local spot will regain its light again.

Great pizza. Perfectly cooked, perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Good prices and friendly people. Can't ask for a better pie.

New owners really nice and cool guys! Great pizza and even better service! Def check them out! If you haven't already.

    Dry pizza.

We wanted to try a different pizza place so we ordered takeout. I got the gf pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni, no cheese. It was not good. 1 star-dry dry dry. Why do pizza makers skimp on sauce, especially when there's no cheese?!? The crust was crunchy, not crisp, crunchy. And they charge an extra $3! No thank you.

House special... Don't even know what all the toppings are. Really good though.

The roast beef sub was good, nothing special about it. Wish there was a little more roast beef.

Thanks for the cold "toasted" burnt sandwhich and the hour wait rather than the half hour quoted for delivery.

Young, energetic and comical. He rolled with our punches. Unfortunately we found the service to be slow and I think it had more to do with the kitchen as the waited was attentive. The salad bar was a little pathetic looking. I LOVE a salad bar but I just couldn't pull myself to move in that direction based off of looks. The guys I was with thought the low bar looking like the place to be and were intrigued by it. What I mean by low bar is there are two bars. One in the main dining area and another off to itself and recessed in. I had bruschetta and chicken parm. The bruschetta was tiny chopped tomato's and onions. It was pretty mushy and just too much actual food shoved on toast. We let the last piece meet the trash. Nobody at the table was interested in it. I had the chicken parm. Nothing special. True score: 2.5

I've been dying to try this restaurant after seeing reviews and finding out it's chef owned (yes!)…read more We had reservations on a recent Saturday afternoon at 3pm. The restaurant is small (only seats 48) so reservations are recommended. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, there wasn't very many people while we were there so I'm not sure how loud it gets when busy. They have a full bar so I ordered a drink and my husband loves his craft beers and they had a few (but he always prefers if they have a beer menu so he can read the beer description). For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail and the meatball. The shrimp and sauce were delicious, and the meatball was HUGE (we almost could have a meal with that!!! The meatball came with lots of sauce and ricotta with 2 toasted bread slices (we devoured every bit!). For dinner we shared 2 entrees, we got the seafood casserole which came with choice of side (we picked baked potato) and a vegetable medley, and the southern fried pork chops that came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The food was so delicious we ate what we could and had to bring food home. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu. This was one of the best places we've tried in a while. We eat out at least weekly and most places we don't go back for a second visit, but Lucky Dog Tavern will definitely stay on our rotation of places we love.

Recently I became somewhat of a regular because the food and the service here is impeccable. Tonight, critically acclaimed server turned bartender Lilly, suggested that I try to Sausage and Bean Soup. Not only does she rank amongst the top three servers I have ever had in my entire life but she was 100% right about the Sausage and Bean soup. Get your car drive to Lucky Dog Tavern and all the time you're on your way there cross your fingers that the Sausage and Bean Soup is on the menu. It was beyond excellent. Just a giant mouthful of flavors expertly orchestrated. Otherwise, It's a gigantic gigantic menu but if the Sausage & Bean Soup is on the special absolutely have it. Take one home with you too. Before I forget to tell you everything on the menu is pretty excellent. But, Just for the record, I skipped over the lasagna. Have I ever lied to you!?

However, the interior itself is beautiful and I enjoyed our seating arrangements. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you choose to go. We started with complimentary bread and butter. Not my favorite complimentary bread- I found it dry and not cut very well. However, free is free! My iced tea with mango was very good though. I definitely recommend some of their flavor shots and as a helpful hint- their refills are not free. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. The wait time was long (around 45 minutes) but not unpleasant. Our waitress was apologetic but I didn't find the wait to be incredibly egregious. When the food did come out I have to say it was some of the best Alfredo I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, pasta was cooked well, and the Alfredo was creamy and perfectly thick. Almost like an Alfredo Mac and cheese. They're not giving the food away and I do think some portion sizes could be more generous for the price point. However, my dish was exceptional and our waitress was very kind so I have no issue with giving Pat's a 4 star ranking.
