Just found my new favorite local spot LJ's It's one of those rare places that feels like a hidden gem right in the middle of the city. The vibe is cozy and welcoming, but there's always something going on, live music, karaoke nights, and even fundraisers that really bring the community together. The food absolutely delivers. The pizza is on point (perfect crust, great flavor), and the smashburgers are next-level. Juicy, crispy edges, everything you want in a burger. It's the kind of place where you can grab a casual dinner, hang out with friends, and end up staying way longer than you planned because the atmosphere is just that good. Thursday night, and Lj's Kitchen fills up while you eat. It starts with one other table in the room. By the time the pizza's gone, the bar is full and most of the tables are too. TVs overhead running NESN, a chalkboard listing specials that include a meatball ricotta pizza and a fried green tomato BLT, and a room that goes from quiet to humming in the time it takes to finish dinner. Lauren and I ordered a ten-inch bar pie, pepperoni and meatball, and a chicken parm sandwich on the side with a pile of fresh-cut potato chips. It's what a bar pie should be. Cheese bronzed and even, that dark caramelized edge where it ran past the crust and met the hot pan, the sauce light, not heavy or oversweet, meatball torn into rough chunks, clearly homemade, its flavor strong enough to overpower the rest of the pie a little. Solid pie. The chicken parm sandwich held its own too, cutlet clearly hand-breaded and fresh, not some frozen thing dropped in a fryer, sauce richer and heavier than the pizza's, soaking into good bread without turning it to mush, and those chips tasted like someone actually fried them that day. But the pizza wasn't the thing I kept thinking about on the drive back. It was how fast our drinks got refilled, even as the place filled in around us. How someone checked on us without hovering, the way regulars get checked on, not the way tables get checked on. LJ's has the feel of a neighborhood watering hole where the staff knows half the room by name, except somehow you don't feel like the other half. You feel like you belong, on your first visit, before you've ever said your name. The place is named for the owners' six-year-old daughter, LunaJett, who we hear is a lead waitress on Sundays. Makes sense. It's the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like family before you've finished your first beer, whether you're six or sixty. Not a pilgrimage. But worth the drive to Woonsocket on a Thursday night, and worth going back again. read more

Made my way to Lj's Kitchen in Woonsocket today after passing it many times in the way to work. The parking lot is across the street and if you blink, you'll miss it. When you walk up to the door, the place seems small. Like a hole in the wall. Inside is anything but. Colorful murals, custom skateboard decks and modern art adorn the walls. Bright pops of color in between the TVs playing a variety of news and sports at the bar My friend and I were there for one thing: the 10" pub style pizza. I wasn't sure what style of pub/bar/tavern pie it would be but I was eager to find out. Our bartender was super friendly and quickly put in our order. We got two pizzas. One standard pepperoni and the other Chicken + Pickle. The pizzas came out ripping hot and smelling heavenly. The crust of these pies is more akin to a pan style pizza than what I would think of as a bar or tavern pie. It had that buttery crisp that reminds me of old school Pizza Hut (and I mean that complementary!). The sauce was a solid supporting character, the real star are the cheese and toppings here. It tastes and stretches like they use a blend of cheddar and mozzarella. The pepperoni was cooked to perfection. The cups pooling with oil and so crunchy. The chicken was quite tender and most on the other pizza, and the dill pickle taste was in full force, exactly as I was hoping! While I was hoping to find something like South Shore Bar Pie, what I did find was an awesome pub pan pizza in a spot that I've passed 100s of times. Went here to try it out because I have heard great things about it. My husband and I went with another couple and three of us got smash burgers and one of us got chicken cutlet sandwich. I ordered a pepperoni and a Hawaiian. Pepperoni was 14.94. it's pricey for a bar pizza but acceptable considering it was littered with pepperoni and meat is expensive. Pepperoni was well done which is the standard and made the pizza look good! A little thick for a bar pizza and not crispy like a bar pizza but still tastes really good. Has a little zing from the cooked pepperoni. I feel almost 50.00 is a bit much for 2 pizzas that fees 4 people however there were no shortcuts when making the pizzas. The pepperoni's were cupped and crispy. I added crushed red pepper and it made the pizza taste perfect. As picky as I am if I'm looking for a bar pizza it woukd definitely be Lj's. Great new little place. They have been open for 2 weeks. They have many tv screens so you don't miss your favorite sporting event. They have a full bar that is huge with plenty of seating. Great for families. The staff is super friendly. The food was good also. We had two pizzas, smash burger and mozzarella sticks. Everything came out hot. They have low tables and high top tables. You can find a full bar with plenty of seating and tvs. LJ's will make you feel like family with their outstanding service and hospitality. Look for the cool artwork on the walls. I just had my first experience. Ljs was recommended by one of my customers. I had to provide lunch for one of my accounts today and we had to feed the entire office staff. The order included a a wide variety of individual items including everything from salads, appetizers, burgers, poultry (entrees and wraps) , seafood, as well as dessert. This was my first time trying out Lj's Kitchen and it was awsome! I met up with a friend and we order a couple of pizzas and they were absolutely delicious! My husband and I went for an early dinner last night, and we will definitely be back! I had the smash burger and fries and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich with house chips which we both thought were delicious! We also tried a cheese pizza and thought the flavor was good, but it was small and a little greasier than we like. The people were very friendly and attentive, it was affordable and they seem to have pretty cool specials that change on the regular. read more

Stopped in for a smash burger and it was excellent. One of the better that I've had recently. The staff were so nice and helpful. It was a Sunday so they only had the brunch menu available, but they asked the kitchen if they could make the burger off the regular menu. We love LJ's! It's a wonderful addition to Woonsocket! They have a large menu so there's something for everyone! Their specials change frequently and are always a hit! Trivia and karaoke offered along with live music on different nights. Thursdays they have a crazy good deal on $.50 wings too! It's never a miss - apps, pizza, burgers, wraps, and more. I remember being at this location when it was Black (which shut down last year) so I was curious to see what this new restaurant had to offer. It was pretty quiet for lunch on this day and there were plenty of seats at the bar. I asked for their Smashburger and fries. The service was good and the food came out in good time. LJs is AMAZING! We will definitely be making it our new regular spot. The drinks are great ice cold beer, good margarita on specials. The food was even better, we had smash burger, BBQ chicken melt on specials, and a chicken bacon ranch - all DELICIOUS. we also got the pub nachos and they were also delightful. The owners are awesome great conversation and professional. Place was clean and cute cool paintings on walls and in bathrooms. We will so be back. Also plus for us - nice and cool in there and good vibes which makes it good to bring our 5 month old who gets hot and doesn't love a crazy environment. It was confusing at first where to go for pick up, but if you go right up the bar tops, the bartenders will help you right away and are also super welcoming!
