The teenager at the counter, wearing falsies so big they weigh down her eyelids, knows absolutely nothing about anything on the menu no matter how basic. The AI slop paper menu and sign are bad enough, but if you're unfortunate enough to go inside and see the AI video loops on the menu above the counter, it makes it quite clear that the complete lack of attention to detail doesn't end with the food or service. An a-okay experience: I ordered the wing-dings and some pizzas - House Special (top) and Vegetarian Supreme (lower) - today! J&D Pizza had to be one of my favorite local spots - a long two minute walk from home. The gourmet pizza, the House Special, was a combo heaven! Pepperoni, hamburg, salami, sausage, ham, onions, peppers, mushrooms, anchovies, and tomato sauce (according to the menu via website) all on the pizza. Although the anchovies add a nice savory taste, I substituted for broccoli instead (to convince myself I'm eating healthy, but really). I've had a better House Special experience at J&D's, but I would still recommend the gourmet pizza. Keep the anchovies if you're feeling adventurous! Next, the vegetarian pizza. Not too many places I know offer lots of veggie options, so this was nice for my mom! Because it's pizza I had to steal a slice. Eggplant, mushrooms, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, artichokes, and tomato sauce made the veggie pizza. The artichoke and eggplant were quite bitter. Proportion wise, do expect a small to be a small. In other words, you could finish one tray by yourself (or share with one person if you feel generous. I don't think anyone does that). I found both pizza crusts to be dry and some slices to taste "uncooked." The spongy texture did throw me off. The wing-dings were okay. The buffalo sauce had a nice tang to it, but it didn't seem to coat the chicken. They weren't crispy as I hoped. Perhaps it is a personal preference. In terms of service, I have no complaints! The person who picked up the phone was patient and friendly. My order was placed and finished on time. Parking could be a bit tricky, but manageable. Maybe I'm a bad driver. Overall, I'm sure every local spot is doing their best right now. J&Ds has been here ever since I was born and you could say it's the top spot for many in Woonsocket! While I do believe there could have been improvements, I'm hoping the local spot will regain its light again. read more

Love this place for takeout. Chicken fingers are always hot and crisp, calzones are stuffed full and the dough is the right consistency-perfectly baked, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pizzas have always been really good no matter what toppings we choose. I like the convenience of online ordering too. read more

Our go-to place for wings, salads, pizza and appetizers for 20 years!!! Try the wings with any of the buffalo sauces! If you like Caesar salad, they grate fresh cheese and make their own croutons! Over the years we have tried some surrounding pizza places but always left disappointed. East Woonsocket has places come and go, but they never come close to J and D!!! I've been ordering from J&D since about 2008, consistently they deliver great food. I've always preferred their fries, crispy and crunchy, steak and cheese calzones, clubs sandwiches, shakes and desserts that always hit the spot. Sometimes when the delivery is slower than pickup I drive down to them which is quick in and out usually. I think they sell wine for dine-in and the location is easily accessible and off Mendon Rd. read more

Sorry, but my wife and I order from J & D's for the first time in a long time only to be very disappointed in the taste of their food. Very greasy fries and onion rings. The two chicken parm subs were barely warm and were pretty much tasteless. We won't be ordering from them again! The good part is the delivery driver was very polite. read more

I don't usually take the time to post a review, but not reviewing JD pizza would be doing them a disservice. I ordered the "house special" pizza, wing dings, and a home baked cookie. Honestly all were delicious, but the pizza really stood out. It was perfectly cooked, loaded with FRESH toppings, great tasting sauce, and above all- not too greasy (considering there were multiple kinds of meat on the pizza as well). My 'roommate with benefits' shared the meal with me and we both completely agree on the taste and quality of the food here. We will definitely be ordering from JD again. Great job guys! read more

Rock the Parm! I don't think I've ever reviewed a standard, neighborhood pizza joint until now. J & D has always been good. But they really made my night last weekend. For some reason I have been running into mediocre and sometimes lousy Chicken Parm subs. Dry sandwiches. Cold ones. Tough, tendony chicken with thick breading. Felt like there was some awful Parm conspiracy going on. Then I rolled the dice and phoned in a Parm Grinder at J&D. Holy Cheesy, Saucy Awesomeness! Tender breast meat, light breading and a great sub roll. Happy, happy, wicked freaking happy and hopeful for chicken parm sandwiches in my future. read more

I ordered from there about a year ago via Slice (app) but regret it now that I've seen it's records on the RI Department of Health website. My parents used to take my brothers and I here every Columbus Day after a long day of festivies at Autumnfest. I haven't had their pizza since I was a child, but it remains one of my favorite places to grab a sandwich or a wrap when I'm dropping by the Red Box machine at the Shell station across the street. The sandwiches are of epic proportions. My brothers will order a Large steak and cheese sub with extra meat and extra cheese, and it's enough to feed a full grown man for two days - for $8. Whaaatadeal. If you are getting a calzone, ask for marinara on the side. They don't automatically give it to you. They also tell you that it will take about 20 minutes no matter what or how much food you order - and that 20 minute estimate has never been accurate. read more

Love J&D, been eating there for years. I remember going there after Little League games way back in the day, and whenever I come back to the Rocket I try and order from them, for the good food and the nostalgia. All of the delivery drivers are great, and will stop and talk for a few minutes once you get to know them. It's always a pleasure to shoot the stuff with them about what's going on in the world. I'm now living in Philly, with a TON of restaurants, but J&D is still at the top of my list. Nothing like their Steak & Cheese with mushrooms and onions. Yeah, I know Philly is the "home" of the Philly Cheese Steak, but I've yet to have one as good as J&D's (and since I hate Cheez Whiz, that doesn't really help Philly's case either). Don't know how often I'll be able to get back to RI, but whenever I do I'll make sure to call up J&D's. read more

I've been a fan of J & D Pizza for some years. Unfortunately, of late they have dropped in customer service. I called to order a grilled chicken dinner and asked for a side salad, and grilled peppers / onions on the side. The individual who took my call argued with me that I wanted a grilled chicken salad and they could not make a side vegetable. However, in the past I have gotten a grilled chicken sub with grilled peppers and onions. Needless to say I politely hung up the phone and called MVP pizza who happily took my "custom" order and money. Food ordered for delivery, arrived 15 minutes late, and ICE cold! On top of that, it wasn't even what I ordered. Apparently when you order a sub, it comes with the "works" already on it. The damn thing was a sloppy mess! They should not do food that way, its very misleading. I called and spoke to the very polite girl on the phone and all I got was sorry. This is definitely the best pizza place in the South Bellingham/Woonsocket area. I have eaten delivery/pick-up from this place many, many times over the past 15+ years. Some thoughts/suggestions: - Steak and cheese is excellent. Every once and a great while you may get a bit of a chewy piece, but that seldom happens. One of my favorite things to order by far. - The grilled chicken sub is great - very delicious seasoning/marinade on the chicken. - The calzones are great. This is one of the few places I've been to that does a steak & cheese calzone - highly recommended. - The greek salad dressing they use is amazing. I always get extra. - The pizza is consistently very good. They never screw up an order and it always looks/tastes the same. This is Greek style, FYI, but that is the most common/only style in the area. Their toppings are all great, especially their eggplant and any of their meats. - The delivery drivers are very friendly. A couple of them got used to my parent's house and used to bring treats for my parent's dog with each order. I've never eaten in, but the employees there are very friendly and offer great customer service. I don't know of any other place in the Woonsocket area that offers anything as good as J & D's. read more
