    Buffalo wing-dings
    Hillary T.

An a-okay experience: I ordered the wing-dings and some pizzas - House Special (top) and Vegetarian Supreme (lower) - today! J&D Pizza had to be one of my favorite local spots - a long two minute walk from home. The gourmet pizza, the House Special, was a combo heaven! Pepperoni, hamburg, salami, sausage, ham, onions, peppers, mushrooms, anchovies, and tomato sauce (according to the menu via website) all on the pizza. Although the anchovies add a nice savory taste, I substituted for broccoli instead (to convince myself I'm eating healthy, but really). I've had a better House Special experience at J&D's, but I would still recommend the gourmet pizza. Keep the anchovies if you're feeling adventurous! Next, the vegetarian pizza. Not too many places I know offer lots of veggie options, so this was nice for my mom! Because it's pizza I had to steal a slice. Eggplant, mushrooms, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, artichokes, and tomato sauce made the veggie pizza. The artichoke and eggplant were quite bitter. Proportion wise, do expect a small to be a small. In other words, you could finish one tray by yourself (or share with one person if you feel generous. I don't think anyone does that). I found both pizza crusts to be dry and some slices to taste "uncooked." The spongy texture did throw me off. The wing-dings were okay. The buffalo sauce had a nice tang to it, but it didn't seem to coat the chicken. They weren't crispy as I hoped. Perhaps it is a personal preference. In terms of service, I have no complaints! The person who picked up the phone was patient and friendly. My order was placed and finished on time. Parking could be a bit tricky, but manageable. Maybe I'm a bad driver. Overall, I'm sure every local spot is doing their best right now. J&Ds has been here ever since I was born and you could say it's the top spot for many in Woonsocket! While I do believe there could have been improvements, I'm hoping the local spot will regain its light again.

Great pizza. Perfectly cooked, perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Good prices and friendly people. Can't ask for a better pie.

New owners really nice and cool guys! Great pizza and even better service! Def check them out! If you haven't already.

    Dry pizza.

We wanted to try a different pizza place so we ordered takeout. I got the gf pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni, no cheese. It was not good. 1 star-dry dry dry. Why do pizza makers skimp on sauce, especially when there's no cheese?!? The crust was crunchy, not crisp, crunchy. And they charge an extra $3! No thank you.

House special... Don't even know what all the toppings are. Really good though.

Good Italian isn't hard to find in RI. Do I hold a grudge? You betcha. We were there to celebrate a family birthday and that family member is no longer here. July 31, 2011 Let me begin by saying that the food is excellent if not a bit pricey for the area. In fact, Trattoria WAS my new favorite restaurant until my experience last night. We arrived for 6:30 reservations for five of us and had a great, attentive waiter. A little after an hour into our meal, the hostess ushered in a group of 32 into the restaurants side room. A couple minutes after they went in, they were all ushered back out because someone said the room was not ready. We later found out that they were 15 minutes early for their reservation. For the entire duration of that 15 minutes the owner/manager allowed 32+ people to mill around in the middle of the restaurant floor. Not just near the bar but around the main entrance to the kitchen. In fact, they were packed in so tight, we were unable to talk, servers could not leave the kitchen area, and no one in a position of authority addressed the situation. During this time drinks were frequently passed over our heads and someone began using the back of my wife's chair as a leaning post. Once they disbursed, we tried to address the situation with the manager only to find out that she is the owner as well. Here is where we go South. She did apologize for the situation but made and excuse for it as well. "They were early and I tried to get them to move. I politely asked several times but they would not listen to me" Let me call the WAAMBULANCE! You are the owner and manager and you are unable to manage a crowd in your facility? Seriously? So we stated twice that it should have been handled better. The owners response? "I already apologized, what more do you want from me?" Oh, and if she should read this, I would note that your mother should have raised you better. It is impolite to point your finger in your customers faces while you are theoretically providing an apology. When one of our party said they weren't inspired to come back, her answer? "good!" Seriously? Wonderful customer service skills. We ended agreeing to disagree because she clearly was not going to leave our table without the last word and an attempt to prove that she was right. The waiter tried to salvage it but the mood of the night was spoiled and we all felt it. We ate a decent meal and left. No one offered dessert or coffee....we were brought our check as soon as the plates were cleared. Did I feel welcome? Certainly not. Would I go back? Never. The owner's attitude was so poor and callous I will never again go to Trattoria Romana. I'm not sure if she figures that they are busy enough so who cares about a few customers or if she is simply bitchy by nature. She surely could use a significant amount of customer service training. On the final bill, they did remove 1 round of drinks as a courtesy (I had asked for 2). But in the end, there are more than enough dining choices in the area that welcome your business and treat you like a king. Try Federal Hill or D. Carlos in Smithfield. You may just avoid the worst dining experience you have ever had. I can say without a doubt that I have never been treated as rudely in a service situation. Being yelled at by the owner in front of other customers was simply beyond believable. Others did complain but not as forcefully after they saw our treatment.

Young, energetic and comical. He rolled with our punches. Unfortunately we found the service to be slow and I think it had more to do with the kitchen as the waited was attentive. The salad bar was a little pathetic looking. I LOVE a salad bar but I just couldn't pull myself to move in that direction based off of looks. The guys I was with thought the low bar looking like the place to be and were intrigued by it. What I mean by low bar is there are two bars. One in the main dining area and another off to itself and recessed in. I had bruschetta and chicken parm. The bruschetta was tiny chopped tomato's and onions. It was pretty mushy and just too much actual food shoved on toast. We let the last piece meet the trash. Nobody at the table was interested in it. I had the chicken parm. Nothing special. The restaurant is small (only seats 48) so reservations are recommended. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, there wasn't very many people while we were there so I'm not sure how loud it gets when busy. They have a full bar so I ordered a drink and my husband loves his craft beers and they had a few (but he always prefers if they have a beer menu so he can read the beer description). For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail and the meatball. The shrimp and sauce were delicious, and the meatball was HUGE (we almost could have a meal with that!!! The meatball came with lots of sauce and ricotta with 2 toasted bread slices (we devoured every bit!). For dinner we shared 2 entrees, we got the seafood casserole which came with choice of side (we picked baked potato) and a vegetable medley, and the southern fried pork chops that came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The food was so delicious we ate what we could and had to bring food home. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu. This was one of the best places we've tried in a while.
