    Salmon BLT
    Matthew D.

I used to live in the area and had been going to River Falls for years. The place used to be good and then changed hands and turned out not so great. I'm happy to report that they're back to be being in the great category. The last few times I've been in there everything has been perfect. The waitstaff are friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the quality is consistently good. They still have their weekly deals and even have trivia nights and a full bar. Parking in the area is easy and I've never had to wait for a table. The last time I went I had the salmon BLT which tasted fresh and had a huge portion of fish. My dad had the fish and chips which were also great- I love their tartar sauce. Also good is their seafood pasta, meatloaf, etc. If you haven't been to River Falls in a while I highly recommend trying again- it's definitely back on the up and up!

My wife and I both had Fish and Chips. Mine was very good but my wife's was a bit too doughy. As you can see, the portions were very good and our waitress was pleasant. The ambiance is nice, in a big old mill

Just got home from having a bridal shower hosted in the Blackstone Room today and I wanted to review right away. Having booked this venue sight unseen from online and out of state, I was very nervous, but the menus looked great, the prices were reasonable and the communication from Kayla was quick and efficient, which set a great tone. Kayla was patient throughout the process, answering my questions all the way through until the morning of. When we arrived, the room looked even lovelier than the photos that I had found, with a door to access the patio area overlooking the river (and our guests loved that on the first really sunny and warm day for the year). The staff were helpful, smiling, and the set up was painless. My biggest worry heading into this was the food. I worried for nothing. The food was excellent. We had spanakopita, mini beef wellingtons, coconut shrimp, stuffed mushrooms for hot appetizers and our guests loved them. Our lunch buffet was steak tips and chicken marsala with roasted potatoes and vegetables, served with salad and rolls. Everything was raved about. Hot, not overcooked, and the staff was great about bussing tables and turning over the buffet table from appetizers to the main meal. Kayla and I had spoken about a special bar menu for the event in addition to the regularly stocked bar and so the bartenders were ready for it, which was a nice personalized touch that we appreciated being able to do. Full disclosure: The only slight con was some of our family who came a bit late had to struggle a bit for parking for our lunchtime event. I can't recommend River Falls (and Kayla) enough. Thank you so much for hosting our family for this important day.

Nicely updated inside. Food and drinks were delicious. All service employees were kind, helpful and just the right attentiness. We will be back

My son and I ordered the fish and chips. Large piece of fish, nice light batter. More fish than batter. Large portion of fries. All was cooked to perfection. Compared to YE OLDE ENGLISH, YOU BEAT THEM HANDS DOWN. Restaurant was clean and great service.

Young, energetic and comical. He rolled with our punches. Unfortunately we found the service to be slow and I think it had more to do with the kitchen as the waited was attentive. The salad bar was a little pathetic looking. I LOVE a salad bar but I just couldn't pull myself to move in that direction based off of looks. The guys I was with thought the low bar looking like the place to be and were intrigued by it. What I mean by low bar is there are two bars. One in the main dining area and another off to itself and recessed in. I had bruschetta and chicken parm. The bruschetta was tiny chopped tomato's and onions. It was pretty mushy and just too much actual food shoved on toast. We let the last piece meet the trash. Nobody at the table was interested in it. I had the chicken parm. Nothing special. True score: 2.5

I've been dying to try this restaurant after seeing reviews and finding out it's chef owned (yes!)…read more We had reservations on a recent Saturday afternoon at 3pm. The restaurant is small (only seats 48) so reservations are recommended. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, there wasn't very many people while we were there so I'm not sure how loud it gets when busy. They have a full bar so I ordered a drink and my husband loves his craft beers and they had a few (but he always prefers if they have a beer menu so he can read the beer description). For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail and the meatball. The shrimp and sauce were delicious, and the meatball was HUGE (we almost could have a meal with that!!! The meatball came with lots of sauce and ricotta with 2 toasted bread slices (we devoured every bit!). For dinner we shared 2 entrees, we got the seafood casserole which came with choice of side (we picked baked potato) and a vegetable medley, and the southern fried pork chops that came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The food was so delicious we ate what we could and had to bring food home. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu. This was one of the best places we've tried in a while. We eat out at least weekly and most places we don't go back for a second visit, but Lucky Dog Tavern will definitely stay on our rotation of places we love.

Recently I became somewhat of a regular because the food and the service here is impeccable. Tonight, critically acclaimed server turned bartender Lilly, suggested that I try to Sausage and Bean Soup. Not only does she rank amongst the top three servers I have ever had in my entire life but she was 100% right about the Sausage and Bean soup. Get your car drive to Lucky Dog Tavern and all the time you're on your way there cross your fingers that the Sausage and Bean Soup is on the menu. It was beyond excellent. Just a giant mouthful of flavors expertly orchestrated. Otherwise, It's a gigantic gigantic menu but if the Sausage & Bean Soup is on the special absolutely have it. Take one home with you too. Before I forget to tell you everything on the menu is pretty excellent. But, Just for the record, I skipped over the lasagna. Have I ever lied to you!?

I've eaten here 3 times now and each time I thought it was really good. It's certainly good enough to warrant its own page on Yelp :) There's no dining room, but you can take your food to the outdoor bar and enjoy it there. The pizza crust isn't like anything else in this area and reminds me of the old Twins where the cheese and sauce go right to the end without that 1/2" of plain dough edge. The large pies are square and the small pies are round but have identical crust and flavor. The pepperoni is cooked to absolute perfection complete with cupping and charring if that's your thing; and it certainly is mine. The chicken parm is adequately portioned/meaty and the fries are decent although I prefer some skins on mine. I can't speak to the fried clams etc because I don't eat that stuff, but my understanding is that it's the same as what Lindy's serves. I'm not sure if it's always the same person that answers the phone and retrieves your order, but I've had the same one all three times and she is friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. To me there's nothing worse than calling a place that does only takeout and the person on the other end being cold and unreceptive. Every now and then I might crave a neopolitan or Greek pie and will patronize another spot, but this is definitely our new go-to joint for pizza in this area!

It was a Sunday afternoon; a special dinner offer for a three course meal was offered for a reasonable price. Our server, Margo, was very friendly and attended to our needs throughout our meal. She quickly served water and appealing bread with olive oil and condiments. The ambiance in the restaurant was lovely in the rich deep green Rakeville room with a lit fireplace. It was, however, slightly difficult to hear in our seated location as we were adjacent to the bar which was quite busy. We hope to be able to dine in the Bartlett room in the future. Regarding our dining experience, we began with the fried zucchini appetizer served with a side of tzatzikias dip to share and it was scrumptious! Regarding entree selection, Hubby loved his rich tasting Harvest ravioli - stuffed with goat cheese, caramelized onions, sweet butternut squash, tossed in a creamy garlic sauce and topped with perfectly grilled chicken. I actually wanted that entree but we had decided to try two different entrees. I chose the steak tips a la Mama which were fine but not compared to the ravioli dish. Some of the steak tips were a bit difficult to cut, but the mashed potatoes and roasted zucchini were very good. The included desserts of NY style cheese cake served with whipped cream and strawberries as well as the flourless chocolate torte, each of which were accompanied with whipped cream and strawberries were a very sweet ending! We will look forward to returning and perhaps dine in the Bartlett room if available.
