One time I fell in the creek at this park. I was about 10, so it was like 1990. At the time this…read morewas known as Bear Creek park. It was quite a bit different then. The road flooded constantly. There weren't any volleyball courts, although one time there was this huge pile of gravel that magically appeared for us to climb. The playground at the time was this wonderfully dangerous monstrosity of wood and metal with various 15 foot tall spots for us to jump off of. Anyways, I wish I could say I was doing something cool. In actuality, there were a bunch of grass clippings floating on top of about 4 feet of water. My dumb ass thought it was solid ground, and I took a plunge. I was primarily worried about my parents being mad, for whatever reason falling in a creek always made parents mad back then. That and sagging your pants. Well fast forward to today and this is just a great well maintained park with a lot of updates. The sand volleyball courts are well maintained and very popular in summer months. The tennis courts seem quality as well. There are several fields good for a pickup game of football, kickball or even Quidditch, I suppose. Best of all, there's a beautiful jogging path through the woods that stretches all the way through McCormick Park and on to "new" Bear Creek Park (it's still new to me damnit!). Best of all, there are plenty of water fountains for my pups to drink at. The trail is well used, but not overly crowded. Everyone is very courteous and friendly. Altogether this is a great park, especially if you're in the market for a long stroll.

The paved trail through the wooded area is nice and peaceful. Lots of runners out getting exercise…read more It's a flat trail so it would be perfect for kids learning to ride a bike. There is also an unpaved area of the trail the goes along the north side of the creek that is quite beautiful. The play structures are pretty pathetic. Definitely for the 2 and under crowd. There is one near the parking lot and one at the end of the Trailwood park trail. Both are underwhelming. There are outhouses by the parking lot and a bare-bones, one-stall bathroom near the tennis courts. I am thankful for all parks with trails - what a great way to get out and get exercise - but I think there are better trails in the area.

It's been three years since I've been to this park! But in my defense, I don't live in Euless…read moreanymore. Today we were in town and had a few minute to spare for outdoor time, so we stopped by! This park is so beautiful, we love walking to the pier and watching the tadpoles and fish swimming around. There's a long walking trail which we didn't get to walk all the way down today but we will have to make time for it. You can't go wrong no matter who he path you take, you will find picturesque scenes everywhere. In fact, there was a photo shoot taking place today while we were there. Relaxing pre-lunch outing, I'm sure we will be back again.

This is a beautiful park, in many ways far superior to the more popular Bob Eden park. The trails…read morefrom McCormick Park connect to those at Bob Eden (and Bear Creek) but this stretch of the trail is shadier and much more lush in foliage. It's a perfect walk for a hot summer morning. The park also boasts a pond with fishing pier and a very sweet little bird watching area, a nice gazebo, and a small (but fun) playground. The playground is FULLY SHADED by the mature trees surrounding it. The only negatives to McCormick park, so far as I can tell, are the absence of both a bathroom and clear trail maps. There is one map that gives an overview of how the main trail connects to the different parks, but I think there ought to be a more detailed trail map at every fork in the trail. And not having bathrooms is a serious drawback for people with kids. I pushed my luck too long this morning and my 2 year old peed her pants. Parks need bathrooms!

The best thing about Arlington is all the trees and hills. North Texas is mostly flat and DFW isn't known for its foliage, but there's quite a few spots in Arlington that really feel "far away." There's true hills and canyons and forests and creeks. You can be in the center of the metroplex and still feel lost in the woods. Crystal Canyon is such a spot. This park is so pretty. I appreciate all the little signs that explain the trail and history of the area. Crystal Canyon gets its name from all the crystals (gypsum) to be found in the vicinity, particularly the creek. There's a few beautiful bridges and benches. The hike is fairly short but super scenic and enjoyable.

Out of the four that piqued my interest, this one was first on the list. Looks like there were other trails branching off from the main one, but I stuck with the main walking path. There were benches and informational signs scattered along the route. All of them worthwhile in reading. Unfortunately, I was saddened by how much litter I found. Irresponsible and narcissistic people. Boooo! The Nature preserve was well worth the time spent and effort to drive out here. Check it out!
