Great neighborhood park and a good play area for little kids.

I love this park's walking trail. It is very shady and scenic. And great exercise!

It's nice and wide open. Big field. Wish they'd quit wasting that land for soccer. Nice trails throughout Tara. Floods often.

It's become a regular destination on our neighborhood walks. Feels like a slice of the Oregon wilderness in the middle of Colleyville! They also put in some emergency calling stations (pictured) which isn't a bad idea for any trail, although I'm not sure how useful they are. During the day there are always lots of people on the trails and at night there's no lighting, so it would be unwise to walk there anyway. In any case, we were pretty excited to learn about the new bathrooms, as that was one of the main drawbacks to the Nature Center before. The area is basically a group of small ponds and creeks with trails surrounding them - some paved, some dirt. Much of the trail is shaded, which makes it a great place to go walking any time of year. There are birds, ducks, and turtles - we once saw a VERY large turtle swimming in the creek here... maybe the biggest turtle I've ever seen. Many people come here to fish in the ponds as well. The trail is stroller and bike friendly. There is a small, underwhelming playground at the parking lot, but we never spend any time there... too much nature to enjoy along the creek, ponds, and trails. My kids love coming here, and we're thankful for the opportunity to get out and exercise in such a beautiful spot.

Today we were in town and had a few minute to spare for outdoor time, so we stopped by! This park is so beautiful, we love walking to the pier and watching the tadpoles and fish swimming around. There's a long walking trail which we didn't get to walk all the way down today but we will have to make time for it. You can't go wrong no matter who he path you take, you will find picturesque scenes everywhere. In fact, there was a photo shoot taking place today while we were there. Relaxing pre-lunch outing, I'm sure we will be back again.

It's a perfect walk for a hot summer morning. The park also boasts a pond with fishing pier and a very sweet little bird watching area, a nice gazebo, and a small (but fun) playground. The playground is FULLY SHADED by the mature trees surrounding it. The only negatives to McCormick park, so far as I can tell, are the absence of both a bathroom and clear trail maps. There is one map that gives an overview of how the main trail connects to the different parks, but I think there ought to be a more detailed trail map at every fork in the trail. And not having bathrooms is a serious drawback for people with kids. I pushed my luck too long this morning and my 2 year old peed her pants. Parks need bathrooms!
