I volunteer after work when I can and bring a shelter dog here for a walk. Even when it's hot outside, the trails have lots of shade from the tall trees, so it's much cooler than most parks. There's also a creek where the dogs love to cool off and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. This has become my favorite park to bring the shelter dogs because they get to stretch their legs, sniff around, splash in the creek, and just enjoy being outside for a while. If you live nearby and have a little free time, I definitely recommend checking out the shelter's Doggy Day Out program. Taking a dog out for a walk or an adventure for a few hours can really brighten their day, and it's a rewarding experience for you too.

I did noticed a TON of flies and ants, I'm guessing they haven't sprayed in a while. Just beware and bring bug spray. The splash pad is open Labor Day through Memorial Day, 10-7pm except Tuesdays. No water balloons are allowed since they clog up the drains. I would recommend bringing your own shade and chair. And snacks and drinks! Whew, it gets super hot. Fun park though!

I will just give you the CliffNotes version in that the park is very clean - perfect for running/jogging, walking, and sitting around to enjoy the outdoors. Here's the new impression about how kid friendly it is. First off, I love their splash pad. The best part of it is it's free! We tend to go on cooler/cloudy days when the summer sun is not beating down on us. They have benches and tables for families to sit around the splash pad. You can't bring your pets or food to the area. After a lot of running and laughing, my son's eyes do get a little red from the chlorine, so wear glasses or goggles if you want to avoid this. Right next to the splash pad is the playground. I'm so glad that it is covered, so we can go when it's sunny outside, but not too hot. The playground is a good place for the kiddo to either warm up or cool down before the splash pad. I would say the splash pad is such a fun distraction that my son spends the majority of his time at the splash pad and the playground is just a second thought. It's never super crowded even on the weekends. Perfect amount of kids playing around. There's a nice private parking lot right next to the splash pad. I'll be back with the family again and again.

This is a miniature park tucked away near apartment complexes in Northlake/Roanoke area. It is tiny…read morewith minimal equipment. There are no shade trees, no covered pavilion and no restrooms. The playground equipment has grass, dirt and no soft playground padding at all. Toddlers aren't super picky fortunately. Older children might be ready to search out another park with better facilities pretty quickly. And personally I like park benches and shade trees or a nice covered pavilion.

I have seen shade canopies at other parks in North Richland Hills, but they seem to be the only city nearby to get this right. I mention the shade issue in my review of almost every single playground because it continues to baffle me. This is Texas. WHY IS SHADE NOT A TOP PRIORITY IN PLAYGROUND DESIGN? In any case, this canopy is great, and allows for play even on afternoons with high temps (bring water!). Unfortunately, the spectator benches are just outside the periphery of the shade, so unless the sun is in just the right spot, parents are either sitting in the sun or sitting on the ground. The structure itself is average. My kids tell me the best part are the two long slides that come off of a three story platform. Apparently they are very dark inside and this makes sliding down them extra fun. Beyond that, there's nothing remarkable about the play structure. Bark flooring, separate toddler structure, no swings. Richfield Park is a three star community park that earns an extra star for the shade.

There are days that I will take my dogs for a walk in the park…read more Usually it's a great walk and the people who play disc golf are friendly and it's all good. The only issue I take with this park is how some people abuse the park and think it's ok to leave trash behind and throw their filth on the ground or to leave food all over where flies get to celebrate on it. The city too isn't taking great care of the park and they would actually get a 1 star for a failure to maintain this facility in the condition it should be. Great place for softball, soccer, basketball and there are lots of picnic tables and BBQ grills. I really wish the city would up their keep. There's lots of parking but some people think it's ok to park on the grass. Overall it's a great park that needs a bit more or should I say better attention from the city.
