I volunteer after work when I can and bring a shelter dog here for a walk. Even when it's hot outside, the trails have lots of shade from the tall trees, so it's much cooler than most parks. There's also a creek where the dogs love to cool off and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. This has become my favorite park to bring the shelter dogs because they get to stretch their legs, sniff around, splash in the creek, and just enjoy being outside for a while. If you live nearby and have a little free time, I definitely recommend checking out the shelter's Doggy Day Out program. Taking a dog out for a walk or an adventure for a few hours can really brighten their day, and it's a rewarding experience for you too.

It has…read moregreat play area for kids, huge lawn, softball/baseball/ soccer area, somewhat shaded parking (depends on the time of the day), a great walking/jogging area around the park, benches, picnic areas with grills and even a nice creek for kids and adults to explore and deep their toes. Lots of trees for those who seek shaded areas and lots of sunny areas for those who want some tan. The park is well maintained and always clean and the grass is cut on regular basis. If a storm rolls through and tree branches break, it doesn't take long for the city to take care of it. Did I mention that it's a great place to walk dogs? There is a public restroom building with separate areas for men and women, that is the area that needs the most attention and could use the help of the visitors to keep it cleanER. Considering that it's a public restroom no one should expect it be sparkling clean. It is clean (to a point) and stocked with toilet paper. The covered party area has electricity sockets for your music and whatever it is you might need to charge and garbage cans are available all around the park. Please use those. Come and enjoy whatever part of this park tickles your fancy but please, pick up after your dog and clean up your mess too, we love this park and would love to continue enjoying it as it is.

Most of the people tend to use it for the walkways around the perimeter of the park, and the playground/pavilion area. It hasn't escaped all graffiti, but it's a modest amount (and from what I saw, it wasn't vulgar). I only have two complaints. Why have the restrooms so far from the playground/pavilion area? I guess it was for public safety reasons, but it's a bit of a walk to it. And this place needs more parking areas (tiny, tiny parking lot). Other then that, I like this little park.

The only issue I take with this park is how some people abuse the park and think it's ok to leave trash behind and throw their filth on the ground or to leave food all over where flies get to celebrate on it. The city too isn't taking great care of the park and they would actually get a 1 star for a failure to maintain this facility in the condition it should be. Great place for softball, soccer, basketball and there are lots of picnic tables and BBQ grills. I really wish the city would up their keep. There's lots of parking but some people think it's ok to park on the grass. Overall it's a great park that needs a bit more or should I say better attention from the city. As usual, I didn't come prepared with anything more than one bottle of water. If you come out here, please bring a canteen or Camelbak. Anyway, I was very impressed with the city's investment in the area. The wildflower section was beautiful, and the trails were very well marked. In fact, I traversed the trails for about half an hour before walking back to the vehicle. There is a playground area for the children. I will most definitely come back out here again.

And you also need to know how to get there, it's not well advertised. And maybe it's a good thing that it's not well advertised. I'm a visitor, so I can't give a lot of info about usage. But it's hidden away, with no parking lot (lots of street parking), and a normal sign. I'd think that it's never too busy. "Natural area" describes land that has few improvements, just several trails and a few benches where there are good views. This is what you get at Tandy Hills. Having moved from the East Bay region of the SF Bay Area several years ago, this parkland reminds me of several regional parks, especially Carquinez Strait and Morgan Territory. Here's a big minus. This hidden treasure has other things that are hidden away: homeless encampments. When you explore off the established trail, and come across a weathered tent with a setup that makes it clear that someone has lived here for a while, that ruins the exploration. Reminds me too much of the rapidly-failing metro area I escaped from. Tandy Hills is a scenic place to get your exercise in and build some cardio going up and down the hills. If you're hosting a visitor who thinks that Texas is only cowboys, oil wells, and tumbleweeds, take them here.
