Nice park in Arlington. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I found it on the all trails app. There is plenty of parking available. The park offers picnic tables, several playground equipment, a covered picnic area, and walking/running trails. The park was very clean, with clean restrooms and plenty of trash cans. The trails are wide enough for walkers/runners/bikers to share the trail. I was on the trail from 4 to 530pm. Several of people on the trails to feel safe. However, you still felt like you had the trail all to yourself. Also, several trail options to puck from. read more

Been wanting to check out this park for quite some time and finally got around to doing so. There is too much park to walk around in one day; however, I did see enough to be impressed with this green space in Arlington. The city should be proud of what they have. Some of the tables and grills look as if the CCC had built them, but maybe that is simply the decor. Who knows?! There were pavillions and tables galore with plenty of shade to fend off the hot sun and temperatures. I also stumbled across access to a wildflower area off the beaten path. Maybe some day I'll return to further explore this hidden treasure. If you live nearby, don't procrastinate in checking out this wonderful park with such a rich history. I'll defintely head out here again soon. read more

This review is specific to the Legacy Parks Mountain Bike Trails at River Legacy Parks. Great for trail running, hiking, and biking. This is mostly a single-track trail used by runners, hikers, and bikers. The trail is rustic with lots of twists/turns and tree cover. This may be one of those trails where you either leave your earbuds behind or only wear one; you need to hear when runners or bikers are close. There are a couple of areas with great dips, perfect for biking or sprinting hills. As mentioned above, this is a rustic trail which is part of its charm. Keep your eyes out for roots, uneven footpaths, snakes, etc. There are a number of trails so you can make your workout as long as you want. The closest bathroom is at the River Legacy Parks. It is close enough to walk to the bathrooms but it is still a bit of a hike. Parking seems plentiful and I have not seen the lot filled up yet. read more

My dog and I come here nearly every day and we love it! This park has everything, water, trails, bike paths, playground area, picnic areas and large clean public restrooms. If you are in the area and looking to have a cookout or take your dog on a walk or your kids to a playground this is an amazing place to do so! Probably my favorite park in all of Texas! read more

I did not know about this park's existence until recently! I've been seeing this park's trail on AllTrails, and I've been looking for a good lengthy trail to get my jogs in but what's even better was that it was close to my house. This park is located in Arlington, and it's a HUGE park -- they have green fields, trails, pavillions and grills that you can use. It's a really nice area where you can see trees (and those are hard to find in Texas!) I was able to use the greenway to get my jog in -- the park wasn't too crowded on a Saturday afternoon either so it was really pleasant. Even if you don't want to use the trail, the park is big enough so you can probably just jog around the park. I'm so glad I was able to find this park and I'm excited to use this park more! Super clean, not too crowded and perfect in the city of Arlington! read more

It is time for an update!! I would say this is on my list as one of the most beautiful 'nature spots' in DFW. If you are looking to get away and explore and feel like you're not quite in North Texas anymore I would say to venture here. It is good to get some fresh air anyways these days. As far as wildlife, I've been out there and haven't had any encounters. But since it is very wooded I would just say be sure to venture out during a more traffic time of day and you will be fine. There are various parts of the trail but I prefer more of the dirt path. But on a nice Texas day be sure to bike, hike or run this lovely area! It remains well maintained and there is lots of parking. I need to get out there and explore more. read more

you want a long trail park this one is it plus it's connected with viridian so its super nice.

This is a very nice park. There was ample space, the crowd was kind (with bike and hike passing), and areas for family gatherings. In the future, I hope to see less detours and more landscaping. I took off a star because compared to other parks in the metroplex a lot of people weren't cleaning up after their pets. read more

This was such a huge park. I came on a Friday and went through the entrance by Viridian. I took some nice photos, unfortunately a lot of the trails were blocked. After talking with one of the visitors, it was due to erosion. He said how the spot where he was sitting use to have a bench on it. It is now a cliff lol. I know that on the Green Oaks entrance there is some sort of learning center. Don't quote me on that! I will, however, check that out and see what's all on that side of the park. I met so many cute doggos! One was really shy, but also wanted to be pet really badly. Too cute! I did not wear the proper walking shoes and had to go through some makeshift trails due to the erosion. When I say the bottom of my feet looked like I stomped out charcoals for a living- it was not the truth! To access the park was free which is always a plus. There is ample parking and near the entrance there was a port o potty. I'm sure there are bathrooms somewhere in the park. I'm excited to go back and see what's on the other side. read more

This is the best bike trail I have found in the DFW area. It has the longest trail I have come across and the path is wide and flat. It's perfect for running, biking, etc. The trail is about 14+ miles, round trip. There are many areas with dense trees, providing lots of shade during warm months. We always see lots of wild life during our bike rides, especially at dusk: bobcats, armadillos, snakes, deer, etc.! This is a very popular park filled with lots of families. However, there were ample parking spaces available. It seems as though, there's a mixture of walkers, joggers and bikers! Restrooms were visible right in the center of the park. They were clean and odor free! There were a few well kept playgrounds for the children. Trails were long with various routes to choose from. There was a good amount of shade too. A great place for photos. Photos come out a lot better than they looked! read more

I've been going to this park since I was a child and I love going down the many trails. Everyone should be on the lookout for wildlife and flooding when it rains. Be careful on the hidden trails and beware of cliffs that lead to the river. The newer playground that was built some years ago is great for the kids and being surrounded by nature is always a plus. read more

Their bike trail is the best and longest in this area. It's about 14 miles round trip. Some parts of the trail are closed, but they offer mulch detours, so you can continue on your way. We mainly come here to bike and get a great workout in the process. They have several areas to park and several park entrances. They also offer a playground for kids, picnic tables, and public restrooms. I would highly recommend this park, bring te whole family, you will not be disappointed! read more

I have to say I am not from Texas so all this nature scares me. I like coming to this park to walk but I am scared of the snakes and bugs. I know its supposed to be rare to see a snake but I would probably have a heart attack if I saw one here and I know the park is supposed to have them. I have seen the bobcat and have yet to see the coyotes. My first time there something bit me through my clothes 4 times. Not sure what it was but I seem to be allergic or have a real sensitivity to bug bites because it was itchy for two weeks. I put anti itchy on it all the time and still have a scar even though I didn't scratch. I like this park because there are so many different ways to get in and out as well as to go to. There are busier sections than others some sections you won't see anyone for a mile or two. Some sections have shade others not so much like in the park/picnic areas. Where I try to walk has shade. I like to see nature and even though I am jumpy its nice to see the birds, butterflies and I've seen two turtles. read more

Great park with lovely meandering paths. It's well lit for early morning walks. The trails well maintained.

Hands down the best place locally wise for outdoor activities. Anything outdoors from running, walking, bicycling, and even fishing. It runs along Green Oaks and sections of the trails runs along the Trinity River to where you can get a good glimpse of the river. All the trails whether you stay on the concrete trails made or go off the wooded trails on your Indiana Jones adventure are fantastic in terms of exploring along with getting a great workout in. Most of the trails lead to the center of the expansive park where there is large open fields for football, soccer, softball. There are playgrounds for kids with gym stuff and all with picnic tables for bbq. They do have the bbq pits too and I love the smells of the charcoals cooking! The front entrance has a learning center which educates visitors on the park and some glimpses of the wildlife you may encounter. Getting back to the trails, I love the idea of being able to roam and be closer to the wildlife as you can see butterflies and if you are running towards dusk, the glowflies which are pretty cool. River Legacy has been around forever and I have been playing the park as a kid in my early days (before Internet) before they urban expanded it to an actual park with concrete paths and back then it was all wooded trails. I never once felt unsafe either from wildlife to the environment, but rather a wonderful place to explore and get some great exercise in. You can go underneath the hwy from Euless entering into Arlington which becomes Collins and walk the other direction which is around 14 miles or so to the end. Don't hold me on that exact miles but it was far and I did it once. I was expecting a pot of gold or some hot women that would be serving me cold beverages at the end, well there wasn't and just a circular opening to sit and I go oh #&$, now I got to walk it back..damn didn't think that through. I would have been amused if there was a congrats sign and it added you got 14 miles back to get to your car hahaha. The only suggestion I would offer is if they had an outdoor basketball court(s) which would be nice or eventually a small rec center too..or a softball field. I can envision that the park would be a place where people would consistently play pick up basketball games. I didn't see a basketball court or any softball fields either. I would have loved to see those rent a scooters around to park to allow you to "zoom" around. Just some suggestions off the top of my head. I am impressed what the city has done for the park and how friendly everyone has been on the trails from greetings to courtesy acknowledgement from a cyclist to a runner/walker. It is a wonderful park to spend either a few hours or a day to do outdoor activities! read more

Hands down my favorite place to run!! River Legacy is my daily dose of nature. It's the perfect escape from the city, yet right within the city. It's great for running, walking, biking, picnics, outdoor activities/events. Always plenty of parking at the trailheads. Trails are gorgeous, full of gigantic trees and unending winding paved roads that go beyond miles of what is seen. I love that every trail has milemarkers every 0.25-0.50 mile, so you can easily keep track of how long/far you've run. Trees provide nice shade, so love that I can run outdoors in any season. I like this park it's nice well kept and the trails are long. I used to run the really long trail until one day I saw a bobcat and kittens crossing the trail and it scared the crap outta me. I haven't ran it since I do run the shorter wooded trail cause more ppl travel on that one so the animals won't really hang out there. I don't know if the animals on the trail will attack or not and I just can't take that chance so I have to drive all the way to another park or trail to get my long mileage in. Besides the wild animals the more public areas are nice and they have a really cool kids play area too. If I had a kid I would take them there. read more

This is a pretty perfect park. I can't see how it could get much better, unless you added some scenic mountains in the background and an ocean view. Or maybe if you could guarantee gorgeous weather all the time. But we're not in southern Cali, folks, we're in North Texas, and River Legacy is a phenomenal park for these here parts. I didn't realize just how big this park is until I finally visited. I drive past it's Green Oaks entrance all the time, but never really considered it's size. 1,031 acres! Beautiful trees, a ton of bike/walking paths, a great playground, picnic areas, and plenty of wide open space as well. It'd be pretty hard to get bored with River Legacy; there's too much space to explore. I'm kind of scared I'll get lost here, actually! You'll see lots of activity here during the day. A ton of joggers, people pushing baby strollers, cyclists, dog walkers. It's a nice community of out-and-about neighbors. I hope to spend more time here when it gets a bit warmer, I'm a ninny in the cold. But I've been known to be lazy and drive through this park (as far as the road will take me), because I enjoy the view anytime of year! read more

I use this park to ride my electric assisted bike end to end which is perhaps 8 miles long. You can also sidetrack over to the newer Viridian development in two different places and explore around that area. I usually bring some bread to feed the ducks on the Viridian side half way through my ride. I've spotted armadillos and owls on several occasions. Luckily I haven't encountered any snakes. The trails are kept beautifully maintained while not intruding much on nature. It's a good place to relax and escape the concrete jungle for a few hours. read more

I have lost count the number of hours that I've spent writing my bike walking the trails and just being one with nature in this park. I've had the privilege of seeing everything from armadillos two raccoons to possums too dear to bobcat to pigs to you name it and the number of birds owls and the light are countless. I've been able to bring my cousins I godchildren and people significant in my life to enjoy the wonders of this park. This is a great park for those that are in average runner walker cyclist or just a group of people looking to have fun on the grass on the trail or in an examination of nature. The trails are kept beautifully maintained and yet avoid disruption of nature. Make sure to go there a different hours of the day as the nature itself changes as does the sun. With each season you'll find new wonders new colors new trees new plants don't animals mature animals take shape throughout time which is the beauty of continuously returning to the same parts of the same park and discovering new ones with each adventure. Don't forget to take a small detour to the living science center where the pond outback you will discover turtles fish sometimes waterfowl it's absolutely a stunningly beautiful and well-kept treasure that is free to the public and I encourage you to donate to such a wonderful institution of learning for young children. read more

I got to spend a day this weekend in one of the pavilions here along with Greyhounds Unlimited for our Greyfest event. I was not too excited about driving out to Arlington for the event but as soon as I saw this park I knew why they had chosen it. It's a huge park that reminds me more of a ranch or a state park than just a city one. Large sprawling fields and beautiful pavilions make it a great place to hold events. Driving in we saw family reunions, and other organizations hosting events here. The place is extremely dog friendly which is a huge PLUS to all of us in Greyhounds Unlimited who are dog lovers to a tee, and most of us had at least 2 greyhounds with us. People who were jogging or biking by continuously stopped to pet the pooches and say hi. Friendly, clean atmosphere and a beautiful day made this park a place I might make the trek back to! read more

I love this park!! It's an emerald gem in a city of concrete. They have a loop around the park that is about 1.19 miles, which I appreciate because it forces me to run the whole lap to get back to my car! LOL. Whenever I try running at the track, I always get lazy after a 400m lap and head home, but here, I have no choice but to finish. I'm pathetic, I know. I recently rode my bike alongside my boyfriend as he ran here. It was my first time going deep in the trails, and we saw many other runners, walkers, bikers, DOGS, and 2 bobcats! There are moments of shade, of sun, of bridges, of creeks, and of silence. It was just super chill biking and exploring. They also have mountain bike trails, playgrounds for kids, a workout area, picnic tables, and pavilions with grills. There's an open area where I've seen people play flag football too. Parts of the park remain flooded for a few days after big storms, so I would double check to see if the park is open after heavy rains. It's worth mentioning that I feel safe as a solo female here. I've never had a weird encounter or seen anything sketchy occur. It's a busy enough park to be around strangers if you want, but it doesn't feel crowded. read more

River Legacy is a awesome park, there's plenty of room here for a huge family outing, picnic or function. They have a nice restroom facility, picnic benches and a playground area for kids. There's lots of concrete bike trails and you can get a good 15 mile ride in here easy. The trail rides along the Trinity River and offers nice views and a relaxing ride. On the West end of the Park there's a Mountain Biking trail with Medium level areas and lots of beginner. There is a area with some drop offs for some quick fun, but nothing too hairy. It's a great place for a ride outdoors in the woods. Last time I was there I saw a pack of wild pigs, caught a baby Boa snake and a Deer. I'm so thankful I live so close to River Legacy. It's such a wonderful park that everyone can enjoy. River Legacy has a big 1.5 ish mile that goes around the whole park. It also has two main trails that are easy to miss if you don't know about them. One of them is 7 miles one way and it has other trails where you can kinda tangent off to. It also has a few creeks so you can really appreciate nature. The other is about 2 or so miles one way as well. The shorter trail has other trails built in so if you're willing, you can go explore those. Be warned, they're easy to get lost in. In addition to wonderful trails, RL recently added some playgrounds and added a work out area. In total there are 3 playgrounds and a work out area. They also have picnic areas that have places where you can BBQ. When the weather is nice, it will be hard to find a picnic area because everyone has the same idea. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who wants to go for a run, find out what kind of future dog you want (I do this while I go for a run), have a picnic, or have a fun family day. read more

Easily my favorite park in DFW. Great park to do pretty much anything: hike, jog, mountain bike roller blade, have a picnic, bird watch, etc. They now have a ramp to put in canoes and rafts on the Trinity, just make sure you do no fall in because you'll probably never be seen again. I picked my new place just so I could walk out my front door and jog right to the park. Even going today although it is cold and rainy in May. read more
