I don't know why most of the reviews say that this is a clean park cuz it's definitely not. A LOT of people don't pick up after their dogs and I can't understand why! Filthy humans. Great big wooded paddocks for both large and small dogs. Lots of small critters to keep my bird dogs entertained but just out of reach. Love that water fountain for dogs is provided and it appears the humans do pretty good about picking up after their dogs. We will be back! read more

Plenty of room here for your furry baby! I love bringing both of my dogs here to wear them out before bed. There's a small dog side and a large dog side; both with shaded wooded areas as well as plain field with benches and water stations. The big dog side does get a bit rowdy sometimes but that's anywhere-- dogs will be dogs. I love the large wooded area on hot days because it's nice and shady there but enough room for dogs to still run around freely. I have both a large and small dog so I usually bring my smaller one into the big side and I haven't had any problems yet but I'd definitely recommend keeping a very close eye on your dogs here because some owners like to sit down and chat or be on their phones instead of following their dogs around and this has caused MANY problems from what I've witnessed. There's two dog parks in Arlington, including the new one on pioneer but I definitely prefer this one. The other dog park is much smaller with NO shaded areas for you to sit under. read more

Nice, open dog park with shady benches! This dog park is located directly behind the animal wellness center and next to the public library. It is nicely maintained and laid out with a large dog and small dog park area. Park in the private lot and walk over to the right gate for your dog. All of the dogs -and owners - were friendly and well behaved! There were water stations for the dogs in both sections. Benches were located throughout - some sunny and some shady. Walks through the woods are truly magical. Except for the fact that I usually have the techno theme from the Mortal Kombat movie stuck in my head, it is truly relaxing. I'm sorry, but that fight scene between Scorpion and Johnny Cage in the woods really spoke to me as a 13 year old boy. As usual, I digress. I love walking through the woods with my dogs, but those pesky leashes are such a pain. If only I could let my furry best friends run and chase wherever they want without fear of losing them forever! Lucky me, because we have Tails "N Trails. Now to specifics, this is the best dog park I have ever been to. It is certainly unlike any others. This park is about an acre of standard dog park with an acre at the back of woods with walking trails throughout. It's really a beautiful and well maintained park. Surprisingly that back wooded area isn't anywhere near as well used as it should be. There is nothing I love more than weaving through the trees while my dogs alternate between following smells and then running back to me. There are doggy friendly water fountains and benches galore. The demeanor of the other dogs (and just as importantly, their owners) has never been an issue. The people that come to this park seem genuinely happy, it almost makes me want to move to the area. There is a small dog portion that has the same woods and is almost the same size as the big dogs part. If only I lived closer, I would be here all the time. Definitely a must visit. I've never been to a dog park that is closed so much out of the year. I understand they close it when it's super muddy however most of the time they close it for several days when it is not even that muddy. I see dozens of people and dogs being turned away and disappointed that they are closed. I swear these people are just lazy to go unlock the doors because there is no reason why a dog park should be closed for so long. It's a nice dog park but it is very unreliable. I would say to call ahead to see if they are open however there's no one to call. I'm sure that the shelter and library is not responsible for the park. 6/10 times the park is closed it's ridiculous. read more

A little good and a little bad about this dog park. Overall it is nice and has a lot of space! There are so many varieties of pups here and you'll love it! But going over to the bigger side, there's a lot of fresh dirt so when it rains it's really muddy. People are so dishonest and refuse to pick up after their pups and it's annoying to having to dodge each step and a half bc of someone's mess. BAD EXPERIENCE: I just watched this guy pick up and threw another guy's dog on the ground bc the dogs were fighting. The guy was TRYING to get his dog. You need to handle YOUR DOG. And YOU are the one who needs to leave the park. Not that man who had his dog thrown by another man. For that guy who thinks it's okay to throw another man's dog, think again and don't think you're a "man" you handled things like a little boy! .. And for the man who didn't have the time to get his dog, I hope you and your pup are okay! read more

I have been to quite a few dog parks around town to take my (uber-energetic) Sheltie puppy to and this one is by far the best. It is right next door to a City of Arlington "Pet Welness Center", whatever that means, so it is very clean and very new. First off, they have two parks in one: large dog and small dog. I like that because I don't want your un-trained Pit Bull attacking my dog. I also don't want your 80 pound dog jumping on me getting its muddy paws all over me. That is not a a problem here as all the dogs in the small dog park are under 30 pounds or so. Secondly, both sides are HUGE. There are probably two acres on each side ... an acre of clean grass and an acre of wooded area for the dogs to scurry around in. The fences are high, the park is clean and pooh-free and there were a myriad of dogs when we got there yesterday afternoon to let the dogs play and run. We'll be back. read more

Mila loves this dog park! There's always an abundance of dogs in both the small dog and large dog areas. She's a medium dog so she plays in both, and she gets double the friends! :) This park is MASSIVE! We let her loose to get out all her energy and end with a walk around the wooded area. She's unpredictable when it comes to listening to us, and we would never be able to walk her off-leash anywhere else. If your dog is remotely aggressive, I would keep a good eye on him/her. I've seen plenty of dogs fights occur here, and all the dogs swarm in whenever it's happening. Having to jolt across a rather large park and weaving through a pack dogs will be tough. Not fun. I once got peed on by a husky here, and it kind of ruined my day. It wasn't just a light tinkle; like he leaned on me a bit, lifted his leg, and let out a mighty stream. He got me from thigh to ankle! The owner laughed and was NOT apologetic at all. I'm too bitter to give them 5 stars. LOL. Whatever, likely a rare occurrence for most people. read more

One of my favorite places to take my places to take my little corgi! I think a spacious dog park should be a staple to every town/city. My dog loves coming here and there is never really any trouble with people following the rules compared to the Grand Prairie location. This park is located behind the Arlington Animal Shelter and is separated into two areas: Large dogs and small dogs. Both sides are a great adventure for you pup or senior! There's always animals roaming around and it's great for your pets to socialize. This place is never a disappointment. The location is also great for people that live in the southern side of Arlington and I am very excited to see what the new dog park that they are currently building has in store for us! read more

We brought our small dog and went into the small dog side and it was over run with large dog breeds. I like the fact that there is many trails along with the dog park as well and that it is next to the animal shelter in Arlington. My oldest kid's dog is a hoot - she's at teenage-dog age but still very very energetic (she's supposedly a dachshund mix, but looks more other-terrier-ish) and goofy. She gets to stay in my backyard while Chelsea's at work (yay for no crate), but that's kinda solitary. Well, Chelsea discovered this dog park that's only 2 miles from my house, and started going almost every day! I loved visiting with her because it's awesome to see so many puppies getting to use such a great facility. First, this place really IS huge. Daisy really likes to go ape-nuts on the other puppies in the lawn area, but LOVES when we walk with her in the "forest". Lots of criss-crossy trails, and she sniffs at each and every bug, leaf, dirt clod and (I'm assuming) pee puddle in there. I like the separate sides for big & little dogs, too - except that it kept me away from the Marmaduke dog and the Newfie pair that were there recently. I really really wanted to snuggle with those dogs. BAD. In addition to the nice no-man's-land entry to prevent escapes, the great location (Green Oaks, just east of Matlock; turn in where the Library driveway is), ample parking and simple seating (some benches, but feel free to bring a folding chair), there are also cool doggy drinking fountains. It's kind of like preschool for puppies - great for building social skills and self-confidence! Daisy's learned to play nice and share and be patient with the other doggies (especially one mostly-blind frequent visitor dog who goes barreling around, and sometimes into, all his friends), and is also getting braver about meeting new people - and has even started partaking in the drinking fountains without much urging! Big stuff. :D Lots of fun to be had here, and not just for your fur-kid! read more

This is my favorite dog park. First- it has two sections- one for large dogs and one for small. Most other dog parks I have been to have one large area which is not a good idea when you have the crazy little old lady that thinks her toy poodle is gonna get trampled to death by the larger dogs- yes I really heard this said at another park. It also has a "holding area" before you enter the large enclosed "play area" so if your not sure how your dog will react or if its their first time you can keep them in there until you are comfortable or you see how they react with the others through the fence. They have a large wooded area in the back- this is my dogs favorite place- that has little trails for the pups to run through. They also have a large watering area- but be mindful as some dogs are aggressive when it comes to food and water. Be sure to keep and eye on your dog- its not a place to just let them go while you read. Feel free to bring toys but remember some dogs don't share well- I always take a large container of tennis balls to leave when I go out there. read more

Tails 'N Trails is officially my favorite dog park. I've had my chihuahua pup aka Teddy for about two months now and my friend recommended Tails 'N Trails to me. We have since gone with Teddy and his mom and siblings. It's a well maintained dog park with a separate area for small dogs, which I greatly appreciate. When your dog is five pounds soaking wet, you tend to be extremely overprotective of them. At many dog parks, the poop situation is out of control. Here, people pick up behind their dogs for the most part. The dog park provides bags at strategic points throughout the park so there is really no excuse to scoop your pup's poop. It's not glamorous but such is the life of a pet owner. The space in each dedicated area is incredible. Not only is it open and wide, there are also a couple of trails for dogs to walk with their owners and puppy friends. Teddy has some socialization issues (he likes humans more than dogs) but visits to Tails 'N Trails are helping him to interact more and play with other dogs. If you're in Arlington or GP, this is the place to bring your dog for a nice day of fun in the sun. There's water on site and they have poop bags. What more could a dog owner want? read more

Best dog park in Arlington! I love to bring my small Malshi (half maltese, half shitzhu) here in the evenings. There are two separate areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. I appreciate that the dogs can be separated since I would worry about my dog being around the large dogs and being accidentally attacked. There's a holding area when you walk into the area which is good for your dog to get initially warmed up to the other dogs. Once we are in the fenced in area, I hang his leash on the fence. Then I just let him play around and meet other dogs. There's a small watering place within the area where a water bowl is which is convenient if your dog gets thirsty. There's also plenty of seating areas and you're free to bring your own outdoor chairs. Most of the dog owners here are friendly and I seem to always meet new people. This is a great place if you want your dog to meet other dogs and other people. I highly recommend bringing your pooch here sometime! read more

Awesome dog park! Most of the people who come here are good, responsible dog owners who love their pets and keep an eye out. Lots of room for dogs to run & play. Two sections: one for the yappy, prissy, little rat sized dogs...and one for the real dogs. :-) LOL I always love the looks I get from the rat dog owners when I come walking up with my 120 lb Saint Bernard. Be careful, though, if you go to the big dog side early in the morning...especially on the weekends. Some of the early morning regulars can be a little stupid and bring food into the dog park...which is "brilliant", as you can imagine, with a bunch of dogs running around. I was there one morning and someone was drinking a beer at 7 am and spilled a box of kolaches. The dogs went nuts and got aggressive. I grabbed my dog and left. There's stupid and then there's idiotic. I prefer to take her to the dog park between late morning & early evening. Lots of friendly dog owners out there and lots of great dogs to play with. Be warned: don't wear anything you aren't prepared to get dirty. I'll never understand why these fashionistas show up in their color coordinated pink yoga pants and tshirt and then get upset because they get drooled on...or dirty. You're in a dog park! What a really nice dog park with a built in "trail" like atmosphere. They left in some tree's from the adjacent area for shade and trail walking. My pooch was worn out from Fort Woof... but didn't seem to mind checking out the trails. I think that part of the park makes it pretty unique. Separated area's for small and large dogs, but we went into the big pen since the small dogs were no where to be found! Everyone was very chatty and welcoming with well behaved dogs (for the most part)... nothing out of control... if my pooch wasn't pooped we would have stayed a while. This place gets bonus points for installing benches IN THE SHADE!!!!! Time well spent with the 4 legged kids! read more

My pups and I did a cross country road trip from Cali to Florida and this was by far the best dog park we've been to. The trees were the best part. A fenced mini forest for the pups to go wild in. Lots of shade and benches with water outlets. It was huge compared to any other park we've seen, with sections for big dogs and little dogs. Big area for the dogs to play. Clean and well kept. Plenty of room for the dogs. My only problem is that people don't realize this is a DOG park, not a child's park. Its been too many times that people will take their small children and not keep a close eye on them. Dogs are unpredictable, they will jump, or if they aren't used to small children could potentially bite. I think there actually is a rule that children under a certain age are not allowed, either that or must be kept under close watch. I take my dogs here because I don't let them walk without a leash at the regular "people" park and it's one of the only places they can do that. It's an inconvenience when I have to keep them on a leash at the dog park because someone wants to take their small child in there and not keep an eye on them. read more

Before he passed away, my little yorkie Max loved this place so much! My family and I would take him all the time, and he always got so excited whenever we'd pull into the place. The dog park itself is really nice. I like that it keeps the big dogs separate from the little dogs. The area is big enough for all dogs to play, and the park is well maintained. Anything Arlington does that encourages people to be in the outdoors or being dog friendly, I support! The park itself is awesome! Divided in two for large/small dogs, the park is now open late and well lit! The wooded trail let's dogs pretend their in never never land and the open space is wide enough for frisbee, soccer balls, & doggy tag. I think a big part of whether or not a dog park is well liked depends on the people who attend! Almost every time I've been with my rambunctious three year old 40lb mutt o'love, I find myself making small talk or at least a passing smile with other owners. read more

This is basically the biggest dog park ever. Even the small dog area is, conservatively, 1 billion zillion acres. The lack of low-lying muddy areas is a huge plus for those of us with thick-coated breeds. The surfeit of burrs in the woodsy part of the small dog area, on the other hand, is a minus. The burrs are pretty weak, honestly-- you can brush most of them out, excepting the ones trapped in paw pads-- but there are tons of them. Fluffy dog owners beware. read more

Love this place! We used to have a small dog and would take him quite often to the small dog section. It was really big with a large wooded section in the back. The large dog park is HUGE! With an enormous wooded section in the back! They have a temp side so when the dogs ruff (get it?) It up they can have a side that's not super muddy. Most of the owners that come here are pretty attentive of their pooches so most of the dogs are on their best behavior. This wonderful park is just what we needed! It had been a rough week after putting our 15yo shih tzu down, we were heart broken and our other pup, Scooter, was depressed. We brought him here for a little fun and we all had a blast! The small dog area was perfect for him, he made friends with every dog and owner in the park. His spunky self had returned. This park is far from me but closer to my sister so we stopped here on the way to her house. Bella loved it, as she does all parks lol. My boxer is a bit of a "wild child" she LOVES to run and play and some people and dogs may not get that but she always finds one that can keep up with her. I really do love this dog park. It's very large and has a wooded trail area also. They close it when it's muddy, which it has been a lot lately. Definitely call ahead and make sure it's open, there's an automated number you can call. Just like any dog park people don't know how to control their pets and there are conflicts from time to time, but generally people pick up after their pets and are nice. There is also a walking trail that leads from the dog park to surrounding neighborhoods if you just want to walk on a path and not be around other dogs. They're open from like five in the morning to 10 at night and open at noon on Tuesdays. No Bathrooms. read more

Tails 'N Trails is absolutely the coolest dog park my pup and I have been to thus far. Two large fenced in areas are provided for both small and large dogs. Benches are available for seating while you watch your pup play with his/her new fur friends! Another awesome feature is the water station and dog waste station with provided waste bags!
