Really disgusting flan
Gabby H.

I received this vomitous piece of flan in my order tonight. When I called to get a refund they first tried to tell me it was the caramelized sugar. I then told them it looked spoiled and I got a half of a slice. If was packed over hot food.Told them I wanted a refund and was told the manager wasn't in.... I asked them to send me a new piece and they said they didn't do that. Then they offered me a credit but not my credit card but to their restaurant. Which they didn't bother to tell me it was a store credit. I had to get an email from them to find that out. When I called back the girl told me that her boss won't give me a credit to my card. Are they that hard up for money that they have to keep my $3.49? Skip this place as they obviously don't care about their customers.

Bistec encebollado, arroz com grandules, mogongo con pollo
C L.

Based on reviews expected a tastier experience.. Alcapurria was hard, the mofongo was good however the chicken in it was bland & when they gave you sauce it was scarce... chicken stew sauce had too Much pepper.. The bistec encebollado had a top coat of what tasted like an entire lime.. onions weren't even cooked with any vinegar or taste.. The only good thing was the mojo sauce.. I rated them higher due to cleanliness & food presentation..

I had family coming to visit and they requested for PR food…read more Then It hit me, there's no more puertorican food places left! If you really think about it the Dominican food has taken over the Bx. I searched, and found this place. The moment you step in you are greeted with the warmest blessings. The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

One of the few real PR restaurants left...food is delicious, workers are very nice. I had the…read moremeatballs (albondigas) with arroz con gandules. Tasted homemade, well seasoned, tender. Rice was the way I like it - soft, not too oily, flavorful. I will go back with my bf who was born and raised in PR to see what he thinks, but I'm already a fan. They also have a lot of variety so I plan on trying something new next time. The lady working there said that sometimes they make guanimes (some people call them guanimos) which I have never been able to find outside of PR. I hope I get to try them at this place. So glad I found this spot and recommend you all check it out.

Inside was nice with plenty of seating for groups and AC to keep you cool on hot summer days. Acoustics were great we were able to enjoy our conversation without having to yell over loud music. Bathrooms were clean with a touch of Puerto Rico as ambient coquí frogs sing in the background. The staff were amazing, friendly attentive and helpful. Our waitress was top notch took care of our coffee and food orders with a smile on a rainy cloudy day. Ordered the Coquito latte, delicious- paired with the sweet and spicy chicken and Coquito batter waffle!! Wow the flavor was great didn't even need syrup. Loved the contrast of sweet and salty. Great portion sizes for the price. My wife got the Coquito French toast with scrambled eggs hash brown potatoes and bacon served on a charcuterie board. Eggs were fluffy and delicious the French toast was soft and buttery.

She was patient with me and my 93 year old Mother. Took time to explain the menu and even helped with suggestions. The food was fresh, hot and came out in a timely manner and was truly delicious! Everything was SO new and clean, even the bathrooms! I was amazed that such a tiny place had such a great little atmosphere along with a small bar that had everything to offer someone that would like a drink with dinner, including a happy hour! I went online, made reservations for 11am waking up early looking for a spot. I LOVE a place I can make a reservation for and trust I will have a table for my party and me. We were the first folks to eat in, so our hostess/bartender/waitress, Yeily, She took our order off the Sunday Brunch alcapurri waffle and Chicken & Beef pastelitos. I also ordered the 2-hour bottomless peach sangria and my wife a virgin Piña colada. The drinks were great, and as soon as I finished one, Yeily had me another. My wife loved her drink, and it was discounted being a virgin. For entrees, I ordered steak & eggs and Choffan. The appetizers came out after the drinks, and we almost ordered another round of appetizers! The alcapurri waffles were made of plantain dough covered with meat and sauce. They were crispy, yes, still have the doughy texture to the center, flavor was A1! The pastelitos chicken was juicy, and the dough was full of flavor, the beef was the same and more. The entrees came out a little after, which helps assure me it's all made fresh. The steak came out sizzling with home fries and 2 eggs on top. The Choffan came out in a small pot. The steak was delicious, well seasoned, tender, and just buttery good. The eggs and potatoes were great pairs and just perfect. My parents joined us midway, and they accommodated us at a bigger table. My dad ordered chicharrón de polo sin hueso. The rice was great, the beans had potatoes and pork in it, the chicken chunks were done right. Dessert was a piece of tres leche that hit the spot. I love local businesses that take pride in their craft. You can taste the love in their food and the space, the services, the food it shows! I loved the ambiance, the music, the TNA wrestling on the tv, the friendly service Yeily showed us, and the price of the food. I will be back for lunch and dinner, get yourself here for food 5/5 stars!

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.
