I never had a Jamaican Patty before but I'm a huge fan of empanadas so I figured they couldn't be too different. Sigh. I was wrong. The outside of the Jamaican patty is soft and fairly tasteless. Not a big deal because like my mom always told me, it's what's on the inside that counts! Unfortunately the inside was unrecognizable as food fit for a human being. Between the chicken and the beef, both resembled and tasted like something you might feed your third favorite pet. Service was meh as well as no one really bothered to take the time to explain anything after we identified ourselves as first timers. But I guess that would've been a waste of time anyway. I truly wanted to love this place because the patties are cheap and this is closer than McDonald's but it looks like I'll be sticking with my two all beef patties over Jamaican Patties for now. read more

I found myself up in Wappinger Falls for an event, on my way south back to the city I needed something to eat before dealing with Saturday afternoon traffic. I happened to stumble upon Cravin Jamaican Cuisine in Ossining online and decided to give them a try. A small little shop with a very attentive staff. I ordered a medium stew chicken and some chicken patties to go. The food was delicious and a generous portion, I had plenty left to take home. I was not as much of a fan of the patties as I was the stew. They were not bad, I just have had the opportunity to try several from all over as well as my sister makes some awesome ones. This was nice gem to find for both grab and go or a quick stop and grub on the spot. When in the area again I would Mine stopping by again, even if it's just to grab to food to go. Just A Note: They have some ice cream (Jamaican run raisin and grape nut to name a couple) that I was interested in trying. However I was full and wouldn't travel well. Maybe next time I'll eat the ice cream and save the food. Lol. read more

After reading all the reviews I thought this place was going to be good . I felt like the prices were overpriced for two meals and a couple of extra things it came out to be 50$ I think that was kinda expensive, from going to a couple of Jamaican places in the past and getting a bag full of food for about 30 or 40$ . The taste is the food tasted good at first but then after a while it had a bad taste , the curry didnt taste like curry and it didn't fall off the bone . The chicken pattie was good though . I also enjoy the Oxtail (although lately those have been a bit tough and chewy so hopefully that's just a blip on the menu). This place would have been a solid 3.5 stars, except that my husband and I both got a mild case of food poisoning. The food we were served was lukewarm, so that might have been why. We went at an odd time, around 3pm. Most, if not all, of the food is pre-prepared. I'm sure it tastes amazing when it's fresh. The jerk pork was good, the jerk chicken just okay. Everything could have been spicier, in my opinion. They charge extra for jerk sauce and there is a $10 minimum for credit card transactions (a medium bowl will cost you about $10). Two medium bowls were enough to fill us up. For what is was though -- beans, rice, cabbage, meat -- we thought the value was just okay. Oh, and we found a rock in our food. My disdain for all things Ossining is probably what led to such a long gap between today and my previous visit here, but I'm glad I held my nose and finally went back. They have a nice selection of Jamaican-American staples, like various patties (spicy beef, curry chicken, etc), oxtail, rice and peas, fried chicken, fried whiting, and more. Speaking of the fried items, they not only expel very little grease, but the batter itself is one of the best I've EVER tasted. They also have daily specials, and apparently serve breakfast as well. I've been a regular customer of establishment since it first opened in Ossining, NY and although I felt like it was a bit overpriced, the food was decent so I continued to go here. However, over the past few months, I've have noticed a difference with the food. The first time I noticed the change, I had purchased 3 cod fish Fritters for me & my sisters and they were soooo salty that we could not eat them! We had to throw them away so it was a complete waste of money. Second time, my sister purchased a stew chicken dinner for her & my 2y/o nephew on uber eats and when her food was delivered the cabbage was sour & the rice was scorched. Third time, which was lastnight, I walked in to the location, purchased 2 large jerk chicken dinners and the cabbage was sour where u can smell that it was bad as soon as you opened your food & the rice was hard as if they scape the rice from the bottom of the pot. I could not understand why they would sell me this food, The only thing we were able to eat was the jerk chicken... it was a total disappoint and a complete waste of money! read more

Mac and cheese and plantains were perfect sides and the Ting soda and pineapple Jamaican soda were super refreshing and tasty. I have been back a number of times. It is definitely good Jamaican food. The oxtail is excellent, the jerk chicken is great, and the meat paddies are good. I'm not a fan of meat paddies in general. It's not really a sit down kind of place, but there is seating available, and it's clean and neat. Good for eating in the run. You can get take out right there, and go home to enjoy. It's is a little expensive for what it is, but when I'm Cravin Jamaican this is my go to local place. read more

I just went to this place to buy fried whiting and rice and beans with sweet plaintain. The fish was dry and the rice and beans were dried out. I called them and told them, and asked if I could get fresh fried fish, they told me to eat from the fish that was already fried and sitting under a hot light. I was very upset and just brought the food back and left it on the counter. They never apologized nor did they offer me a refund. I spent $20. $18 on food and a $2 tip. I know the owner Peter. I will let him know how tacky and displeased I am with the food at his restaurant. I would not advise anyone to eat here. read more

This place is the best. And the people who run it are so nice. I'm not so fluent in Jamaican cuisine, except I love it, but they are more than willing to explain everything on the menu. The mac and cheese is of course a staple, but I love the chicken soup, Rasta pasta, and all of the patties. Next on my list is the veggie stew and probably the salt fish. I was less than satisfied with this place. I have tried nearly all of the dishes and not a single one of them really had the flavor of some of the authentic Jamaican cuisine. At this point I have had the jerk chicken, curry goat, curry chicken, and oxtail. Let me first disclose that the owners go to my church. Jerk chicken is tender, fall of the bone. Spiciness is determined by the sauce you apply. Rice and peas and cabbage are pretty standard. Curry goat and cocktail is what you would expect, tender and seasoned to the bone. I'm not to crazy about Jamaican curry chicken but if you like you will enjoy. Cashiers are courteous. This is a new restaurant bumps are still worked, but this staple is here to stay. read more

The moment we spied this place from the Post Office across the street, we knew we had to try it. I loved how bright and colorful the display is from the street! But once we walked in, it was truly love at first sight. I felt like I was in Kingston, Jamaica, with all the straight-from-the-island decor.
