Featured here: Spicy Calamari Fish N Chips Two Baked Ratatouille Portobellos Calamari and Fish n Chips were decent. Pretty common dishes. Nothing to write home about. .Absolutely loved the Baked Ratatouille Portobellos though! Ratatouille is on its own, a dish I don't see nearly as often as Calamari or Fish n Chips. The way this one was presented, with the Portobello Mushroom and Brie cheese was an absolute delight! Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Came here to get the exact same thing I got last time but it wasn't as good as I remember. Quality has gone down. The stuffed French toast came with much less fruit than last time and was soggier and less crispy. The potato pancakes needed salt added and just weren't as crispy as the last time. One tea bag was $4. I wanted to cry. A cheap tea bag with some hot water shouldn't be the same price as a latte. Service was good. They were very accommodating with my friend's dairy intolerance. We had a very nice evening at Izba'sl. The restaurant itself is attached to a Best Western hotel so it is nothing fancy but it is cozy and clean. Parking is at the back. The service from Michael was very good. He described a few of the menu items to us and made a few suggestions. For the portion sizes and quality of food the prices were very reasonable. The food is well prepared and very tasty. We shared an appetizer of perogies between the 3 of us. They were really good served with fried onions, bacon, sausage & sauerkraut. There were 6 perogies so we each had 2. The entrees are large. My husband was the only one who managed to finish his meal. I had pork stuffed potato dumplings with mushroom gravy, my husband had Hungarian goulash and our friend had wiener schnitzel. All the food was excellent. We had a bottle of wine with our meal. It is a nice spot to share a meal with friends. It is quiet and cozy. The food is good, service is good and prices are reasonable. We would return. read more

We came for dinner. The pork hock was huge and fantastic. The Gulash with beef; was very tender and excellent flavours. Spicy sesame prawns was also very good. The service was helpful and attentive. This is a fantastic homey restaurant built onto the end of a local inn. Definitely worth a 20 minute drive from Maple Ridge. read more

$$-Hotel Restaurant Izba Bistro is a Polish dinning experience. Nice and clean with professional service. Not many vegetarian options on the menu for adults or kids. At first when I went there with my family it was almost empty and very quiet but about 20 minutes later it became surprisingly busy. A very large extended family group of about 25 people came in and really took over half of the restaurant. They were very loud and disruptive. The fish dish has me feeling some what sick to my stomach. The rest of the family seemed to have enjoyed it but I didn't so much. read more

I always take my family we go there they are close to my home they do very delicious food. The service is excellent. Highly recommended.

If you are going before 1:00pm they get 5 stars! The food is excellent and staff are amazing. Now after 1pm. Food is still great but staff.... If I am there for lunch it is after 1:30. Most lunch patrons have left and by the time I get my food I am often the only one in the restaurant. The male wait staff feels this is a perfect time to sweep the floor not generally but right beside my table, banging the broom against the dust pan. Then he will move off but tends to return once or twice more. This has happened the last three times I was there. Best place for breakfast. Avoid for late lunch! read more

I love this place!! No it's it's not the fanciest restaurant ever, but the food is fantastic. I have tried the goulash, the schnitzel and the perogies. All delicious!! It makes me sad that there aren't many traditional Eastern European restaurants in Vancouver, literally can count them on my hand. I hope this place never closes!!! read more

Ordered the Izba Benny, and the taste was great, the mango salsa strengthened the taste of the dish, and the potato pancake was yummy Sadly the pouched eggs were over cooked, and weren't runny at all, they were hard boiled eggs It also took quite a while for the food to be served. read more

Went for dinner restaurant averagely busy but it seem like only two people were waiting tables and one was also hosting. Probably short staffed but they were as fast and efficient as possible. There was a bit of a wait for the meals though. Beef dip was very good but the fries were average food service and not very warm. The perogies however were delicious! Cottage cheese and dill! Lightly fried but not crispy which is just how I like them. Came with delicious cabbage or sour Kraut! I'm not sure as I haven't had saur Kraut for a long time. But it was a delicious meal. Next time I'll try the borscht but probably will have the perogies again! We chose Izba because we were sick of going for crappy average meals at earls, browns, cactus club and getting shitty service and the same Old food and dropping. $150 and leaving unhappy. Discovered Izba when I took a friend to "The Pantry". I didn't know the restaurant had changed hands so I was unsure if we should stay and try the new place or head to Maple Ridge to that branch of The Pantry. We decided to give Izba a try. I was happy to find that their menu is similar anyway, just has more international options to choose from. I was still able to get my Pantry favourite, which is what I'd been craving. The decor has changed but mostly only in colour, and the prices are still fair. My only complaint is that we asked for salt (not available on the table) and it never came. Our waiter didn't come back at all until we were finished eating. There were only three other tables occupied, totaling six people, so no reason for him to be inattentive (unless he's also the cook...). I pictured him in the back room scrolling through social media on his cell phone but I don't know that for sure. It was just disappointing when everything else was good. read more

Izba is our favourite local restaurant. Recently tried the Braised Beef Short-ribs substituting mashed potatoes instead of their potato dumplings. The taste was ....Amazing ! Update after trying breakfast - I think we still have the same thoughts. The photos online and in promotions look great, however that's not what the food looks like every day. This place is a blasé greasy spoon with higher aspirations, however they fail to hit those higher marks. What you're left with is a range of overpriced, bland dishes. Alas. The potato pancakes I had today were the oiliest things I've eaten in ages. Crispy on the edge maybe, but the rest was a grease sponge. The bacon is fatty and limp. The eggs were runny. Both our kids, who are pancake addicts, didn't finish their pancakes. Sad to say we probably won't return. read more

Waited for an hour for food because place was very under staffed. With only 2 servers for the whole busy restaurant. Servers were nice but they need more staff. I got the polish burger. The burger was good but the fries were frozen and soggy. My table of 5s food was all coming out at different times so we were all eating at different times. Was missing an appetizer and was removed from the bill. The place overall was clean with TVs on most walls. Steak was alright but was barely warm when brought to the table. I feel bad for the staff they were working very hard running across the floor. The owner needs to do better at staffing. 1 cabbage roll was 8 dollars which I think is ridiculous. Four of us stopped in for dinner on fathers day and got seated immediately, the service was super friendly and quick. The waitress talked to us about everything and sold us on the Vienna Style Schnitzel and Chicken Cabbage Rolls. The portions were massive and the food is absolutely top notch quality for a VERY reasonable price. Hats off to the chefs, this is quite a gem. We never felt rushed or intimidated, the waitress took great care of us. All together this place serves up an amazing experience. I had been meaning to try this place for years and finally this rainy cold Saturday was the day. When I opened the menu, I was in (Northern) European Heaven! All the dishes I have missed for years from my childhood and heritage. I looked at my fiance with a smile and said..."these are my people's food". I ordered the Hungarian Goulash with potato dumplings which we both found delicious. He ordered the Hunter's Stew which came with potato pancakes. We both also loved that one. I really look forward to going back fairly regularly and working my way through the menu. My parents will be happy I found Izba. It is hard to find this kind of food here now. read more

Izba Bistro has one of the slowest restaurant service anywhere in the Lower Mainland. After being seated we had to wait over 1/2 hour for our food to arrive. I ordered fish and chips and the battered fish was super oily with the batter being rock hard and unfit for human consumption. The fries it came with were also very oily and lukewarm/ soggy. The restaurant was not even full of patrons and the service super slow. The problem lies with the kitchen staff and the Manager/ operator of Izba. There were way too many waitresses and not enough food preparation staff. After talking with the Manager/ Operator of Izba he told me: "that I should not expect perfection." I told him that: "there is a huge difference between perfection and poor and a big range in between. and Izba is in the poor category". Needless to say we will not be back. Had dinner there with friends. Several times the server set the wrong plates in front of us. The $2 extra borscht is ok but was served tepid. I had the Hungarian Goulash and it was tasty and quite spicy but a bit over priced given the size of the serving. It did not look like the photo below! The lava cake for dessert was likely frozen and microwaved as some of the chocolate centre had not yet thawed. We got there on a Saturday and waited for 1 hour to get our food after ordering. They brought meals 10-20 minutes apart, forgot one meal and remade it, and the quality was terrible. We told our server that we don't want to pay for one of the meals because it got to us so late that every one else was done and we wanted to leave. she said "I talked with the manager, they said no." and later before we leave, I asked her "May I speak with your manager?" and she said "Oh, I am the manager. we cannot do this anymore, we can not give out free food anymore." anyways, I don't want to get into the details of how she frantically grabbed the machine out of our hand and made a scene and charged us 20+ per person... for a crappy microwaved but still cold food. My girlfriend and I and our husbands wanted to go for breakfast that was close to wear we both lived so we chose Izba because my girlfriend had read good reviews about it. We arrived at 9:30 am and got a table immediately. We ordered by 9:40 and then began our 45 wait for our breakfasts. When we got there, there weren't a lot of people maybe 6-8 tables seated, a party that would have required a reservation began arriving (they took up half of the restaurant on the other side) and that's when things seemed to go downhill. (Which, my biggest complaint is, a party of 30+ people needs a reservation. Nobody just WALKED IN with 30 people. They should have known better and the manager should have staffed better). Our waitress was told to go handle the party...but nobody bothered to look after our table after that. No coffee or drink refills were offered (until AFTER our meal was done) and our food unfortunately came out cold. My girlfriend ordered the Izba Eggs Benny and she asked for her eggs scrambled. The presentation was on a square plate was sad, and we wished we took a picture, there was less than 1 potato of 'hashbrowns' on her plate, slices of avocado and some scrambled mash all on one 1/4 of the plate. The rest of the plate was absolutely empty. How much does a potato cost? I just bought a 10 pound bag for 3 bucks the other day! It was incredibly disappointing. Her husband ordered the dinner pirogies which was supposed to come with a salad. No salad ever showed up. My potato's were already ice cold when I got them but by that time I was too famished to send it back. The breakfast quesadilla were nice but only luke warm. My husband had the traditional breakfast which was again, disappointing for the amount of hashbrowns provided. He also had the Brie stuffed french toast, and it was disappointing because there was barely any cheese in it. Certainly overpriced. We would have complained about the food but as I said every single waitress avoided our table, and we were too bloody hungry to wait any longer. When a waitress finally did come around, we complained about the salad not coming and the waitress said she'd put an order in for it...but it still didn't come after 20 minutes. Then they tried to charge us the dinner price for just the pirogi. When I complained about it to the manager he tried to explain away the salad not showing up rather than apologizing and just taking the 2 bucks extra it cost between the lunch option and the dinner option. They 'took off our drinks' for the trouble... my husband had coffee and the rest of the table had water. Big whoop. We wolfed down our meal and we then waited for our cheque to come... the whole experience took just a few minutes shy of an hour and a half. If most of that time wasn't waiting for food, the experience might have been better. Unfortunately we will not be returning and we will be telling everybody we know to avoid this place. We're really, really easy to please people and we're patient, but when it takes 45 minutes for food to come out that ends up being cold? That's just poor management. read more

Just came from Izba for the first time. Our server was fine, especially for being brand new but the older lady/server was atrocious and rude. Completely ignored by her when trying to get her attention and treated us rudely when I had to try to change my order. (I understand its a pain to do this). The kids food came 10 minutes before the adults. The food was relatively bland. The perogy were hand made which I appreciate, but bland. Schnitzel was well cooked but bland. I think I'm being generous with two stars. The restaurant was about a quarter full when we arrived. We sat down right away, and ordered not too long after. The food took way too long to be served. My daughter got her lunch first and it was too hot to eat. It was more than five minutes later before any more food came out. One of our party who ordered his fries well done received cold undercooked fries. My hot turkey sandwich was anything but hot. It was clearly ready long before it was brought to the table. The gravy was congealed and the turkey was cold enough that it could have been refrigerated before it was brought out. It was served on regular white toast. That's how I would serve it at home if I had absolutely no buns in the house. My fries were too hot to eat, but mostly raw potato inside. Slow service, cold food, dishes cooked wrong. We have been going to Izba's for quite a few years now & we are usually with a group of friends & we "ALL" love this place. We've had quite a few different things on the menu & one of my favourites is the Mediterranean salad I love it & another one is the fish & chips I find are very reasonably priced & I found it well worth the money. The Borscht soup is excellent. I have it every time we go there. I have no complaint at all. We go there sometimes 3 times a month. I found the waitresses very friendly & lovely to talk to. In fact I've almost gone thru the whole menu - some foods I like better than others, but you can't be expected to love-everything because it might not be your forte, I found the helpings a very good size for what you pay for. There are many other restaurants that we go to too; but we like to keep going back to this place. It's homey, not too, too big! Just a perfect size. They're not greedy for money - they like to keep the same patrons coming back & knowing they are satisfied with the food & service. So that's my recommendation!!!! read more
