Ixtapa is the only choice for Mexican food in Duvall. It works, some of the menu options are good, but it's standard PNW style Mexican food. As a native Texan it just doesn't stack up, but considering it's right down the road from my home, it'll do. Super friendly staff and good drinks. I really want to love this place. The staff is always friendly, like family and we do live going here...but... I have to agree with others that the quality isn't what it was and the prices are almost twice what you would expect. I get the same dishes in more expensive California that taste better for half the price. That said we still go because it is good but if it improved a bit and came down a bit in price we would be back to going once a week. We go to the Duvall grill now more because the food is cheaper and great quality. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Ixtapa! Been going here for about 20 years now, the staff is great and the salsa is the best! I now live in Seattle and drive out for good Mexican food. I will say Duvall's menu has become a bit overwhelming and hard to look through if you are looking to order something new or new to the restaurant. If you want the old Ixtapa menu there is an easy solution...go to Monroe! :) Both are very tasty and always fulfill a craving for good Mexican food! read more

Consistently good

My husband and I ate here on Wednesday just before we hit the Summerstage. The staff were incredibly friendly and the decor was visually appealing. I ordered the Baja chicken which tasted amazing (and would definitely order it again). My biggest quibble is that the portions are FAR too large. I ate just under half my plate (as did my husband) and we could not take another bite. Unfortunately, we couldn't take anything to go, so much of the food was thrown out. That said, we'll definitely be returning here for some good, quality Mexican food! read more

Great local Mexican food from a family run business. We eat here a lot and everyone stops by to say hi. We love their patio during the summers. Recommend their molcajete (beef, mushrooms in a salsa creme sauce). My wife loves their fresh lime margaritas. read more

I'm dog sitting here in duvall and thought I would give this a try. the $9.99 all day special of enchilada and burrito seemed a good way to sample the cuisine and the shredded beef KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF!!! the huge and yummy raspberry margarite really hit the spot and I got out with $13.99???? so I'm back, trying a mojito that I saw last time. Yum! my only complaint is that the salsa is waaaaaay too hot. I have never had to cut my pre-meal salsa with beans before . I'll forgive them. The menu is HUGE and every time I'm here I see something I have to have (next up: the visually stunning chicken milanesa salad!). Even their veggie options look wonderful! Pre-COVID, the Ixtapa Duvall bar was my favorite Happy Hour spot ... such good margaritas (of unusual size) and always Mac&Jacks on-tap, so I'm glad that King County has started to allow in-person dining again. But even when dining was limited to one of the Ixtapa tents or as dinner-to-go, we loved the Street Tacos and especially the Suprema Quesadilla (this one is like a full-on Steak and Cheese dinner ... just outstanding!). Not your normal menu it's easy to tell that great care goes into choosing many authentic dishes to choose from. It's truly an example of real and carefully thought out cuisine!! This is the best Ixtapa by a mile, we've been eating here regularly for almost 5 years and have always enjoyed ourselves. At this point we know many of the staff by name and are always greeted with a warm smile. My go-to is the fajita salad - all the fajita goodness except on lettuce. My husband particularly enjoys Tres Cunados, but you have to be hungry! We almost always have leftovers. And while the prep does vary, we also love the chile relleno. There are some more authentic Mexican dishes as well which is nice, to take a step away from the Americanized options. It can get loud on a crowded night, but that's part of the charm and you can always request a seat in one of the smaller rooms which are generally quieter. Stopped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised at the excellent service and delicious food. Jesus was taking care of us and he is just about the kindest, happiest and most welcoming person I've encountered at a restaurant. He made our visit fun and my daughter enjoyed him as well. I've enjoyed Ixtapa's in other locations, but wow - Duvall's is nicer and more friendly than any of the others I've visited. Sparkling clean booths and tables and our waiter was just-right about taking our order, keeping the chips and tortillas coming and all with a smile. The food was good - the street tacos were delish. The Duvall Ixtapa is by far our favorite Mexican restaurant. I could go there just for the fresh house-made salsa - I generally eat two bowls of salsa by myself. (They will keep it coming as long as you want.) My favorite dinner menu item is the arrachera steak - a generous portion, deliriously seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you're a vegetarian do not eat at any Ixtapa! They have a "vegetarian" section on their menu, but it absolutely is not vegetarian. They use chicken broth in their rice, and all of the dishes, except a cheese quesadilla. Gross. read more

I get regional preferences and I love to support local biz, but I was perplexed by the great reviews and then noticed the hidden not-so-great filtered reviews. The salsa is doctored ketchup, the margaritas are not good and the food is salty glop. There is nothing fresh or delicious and I always feel blech after eating here. This is a great Mexican food place in little ol' Duvall. The decor is beautiful and they have tons of room for diners. The run specials. Three of us got the special asada burrito. It was delish! I am not a Mexican food snob, but I am from Southern California. That being said, I've had great Mexican food in Seattle. This is by far the worst Mexican food I've ever tried in my life! I got a chicken taco that was in a store bought shell and tasted horrible, the cheese in my enchilada was that fake kind that is stringy and not chewable. Was in town visiting; my friend took me here for dinner. I am from Idaho and we have no good Mexican places here. The food is usually bland and not spicy at all. The salsa is usually not fresh. At ixtapa expect fresh salsa and fresh bean dip with zesty cheese on top. The dish I ordered was super yummy; just the right amount of heat. I don't know what they cook the marinated mushrooms in, but order a side of these. I could eat just that for dinner. They have a version if the Carne Asada with special seasoning that is out of this world. Other than that the beans, rice, decor, and music is the same as all the others. Where this place place gets the 5 Stars.....the seasoning (NEVER anything bland), the service! (Sometimes I feel like I have 3 or 4 waiters, but they are never pushy. Just always checking in to see if you need more salsa or if everything tastes fine). The Cadillac margaritas?! Well, you only need one LOL. They do not skimp on tequila! I've only had one dish where I wasn't thoroughly pleased (chicken had been a little dry) out of 7 years here, and let me tell you....they made quite the ordeal out of making me happy. Not only did I get a replacement order very quickly (sorry, I'm sure it was supposed to go to another table!), but they took it off the bill as well. Clearly the best Mexican restaurant north of Fall City and south of Monroe in the Snoqualmie Valley. The staff are wonderful, the food excellent, the prices reasonable, and the hours longer than any other restuarant in town. We've been going to Ixtapa for the past 12 years. Those who live here know it's Duvall's living room. If you visit Ixtapa often enough, you'll (eventually) see everyone in town. We love the free chips and salsa, and my husband can eat an entire dish of the excellent pico de gallo by himself. Ixtapa has a large menu with many, many choices, but we tend to eat the same things every time we visit. I get the enchilada plate (I could go for one NOW,) and my husband gets some variety of burrito with beans and rice. The food arrives at the table promptly. It's hot, it's delicious, and the portions are appreciably large enough to require a take-out box at the end of the meal. The servers and staff are friendly and efficient. You may also meet the owner. Ixtapa's loud. They cater to families. it's not necessary to have one to enjoy the food, but you'll see lots of them when you visit. It's the place to be every day of the year, not just Cinco de Mayo or Christmas Eve. (We're hoping to join the madding throngs this December 24th. Save us a table, will you?)
