After a minor accident that left no damage to either cars I was told by Ramon to stop by the Ixtapa in Duvall for dinner as an apology on his behalf for hitting me. I wasn't sure what to expect when I stopped by but the staff were extremely friendly despite being confused after telling them the story. The food was also good and I will be coming back! read more

I went to Ixtapa in Duvall to meet friends outside. I ordered a chicken tostado and when the server set it on the table I felt all this fluid run down my leg because the metal table is open and my plate was full of water. I don't know how this happened but our service was horrible so I just ate the chicken out of it and when a gal came by to take our plates I told her about it but I don't think she understood english. First time at this restaurant, it wasn't very busy. We were seated right away, and I was with my boyfriend. The waiter assumed I spoke Spanish and only asked questions in Spanish to us which is fine since I'm fluent and Hispanic but my boyfriend is not and he doesn't know Spanish. So he felt a bit left out of the conversation. We were seated and provided with warm tortilla chips and pick de gallo and refried beans! Yum! We placed our orders and not even 5-10 min later or hot food was in front of us. The food was typical of a chain and we were satisfied for the most part. This Ixtapa in Duvall is great! My husband and I ordered a vegetarian tortilla soup and my daughter ordered the chicken burrito. I was so happy to find vegan options on their menu. Last time I visited, there were no good vegetarian or vegan options on the menu. Although, you can always ask for sides and create your own meal. Delicious! We ordered the Mexican Pizza, Molcajete and I had the Ixtapa Burrito. They were very Covid friendly. All staff wearing masks, hand sanitizer at the table, and a QR menu for you to scan. I really wanted to like this place. I was craving for mexican tortilla soup pr at least chicken soup which is called Consomé de pollo. So I ordered it and a tamal plate. While waiting, i tried their fried beans and totopos. They are tasty. I had a mango margarita. It was a fun experience while ordering it. I asked for their drink menu and the waiter told me they had an open bar with all the margarita flavours I would like. So i ordered a tamarind margarita, but they didn't have one. I ordered a cucumber one, they didn't have it. And then another one, and they didn't have that one either. So he told me they have only the populars. I stayed with this one. It was heavy and served in a beer glass... Then came the rice and tamal. They were normal. For my surprise, the chicken soup is a big bowl. I ordered the regular but this was huge. The downside is that it was a chicken fillet that was previously cooked on a grill and the cut in chunk into this watery "soup". Tortillas were cut in squares rather in Julian. Oh boy was this a disaster. Flavour was terrible. It didn't have the thickness and creaminess of a tortilla soup. O didn't want to cook it but I rather do it than return here. I sent it back and they tried to charge me for it. What a robbery. Service was very slow and they were very upset went I noticed all these things. read more

Woodinville-Duvall offers several Mexican restaurants and food trucks. We've tried a few since moving to the area, and this Ixtapa location in downtown Duvall has been solid. On our second visit, I tried the Cielo Mar Y Tierra platter that the menu describes as specially seasoned skirt steak grilled over charcoal, broiled chicken breast & prawns sautéed in garlic butter. Our server kindly accommodated my request for extra heat (note the dry red chilis in the photo), and also told us that he prepared it "ranchero style" which is a medley of the three ingredients rather than plated separately. The medley works nicely - good seasoning, not too salty, and well-prepared overall. The outside terrace is sweet although a bit noisy during late afternoon street traffic, but we knew this going in and were fine with it. Here's a photo of my platter. The restaurant's menu is vast and holy moly those are some expensive prices, I have seen cheaper prices at nicer restaurants in Seattle area. Anyways we were hungry and ordered food for two, if we weren't starving we would have left after few bites. The food was bland, the ingredients seemed cheap for the prices they are charging. We ordered 2 entrées for takeout tonight. They were fine, but we couldn't eat the tortilla chips because the whole bag of chips smelled rancid and the few we tried tasted rancid. Very disappointing, and this has happened before. I think either the tortillas the chips were made from were bad or the frying oil was rancid. We got carry out and it was disgusting. My son's tacos were greasy and soggy. They didn't even manage to get the meat and cheese inside the tacos. The meat was flavorless. I ordered chicken enchiladas and they forgot to put red sauce in the enchiladas. They were just filled with dried chicken. So gross. We threw the dinner away. The restaurant is my favorite place here in Duvall. The staff is so friendly, the food is so yummy and the portions are huge. Their chips and salsa are the best. Now they also have the refried bean salsa with shredded cheese on top. Amazing!! Usually my husband and I go there for dinner and share the Mix & Match meal. Since we do not eat a lot, that is the perfect meal size for us. Another thing that I love about that place is that they have a big parking lot and they open very late comparing to other local restaurants around :D read more

Stopped here while passing thru Duvall on the way home from an event; we needed a meal and it seemed like a fine family Mexican restaurant from the curb. Cool interior decor and service was fine, but the average price was $20/plate and the food was very mediocre. The pico on the side of one of our plates had obviously been made a while back, frozen, and then thawed - the greens were brownish. The food wasn't so rough it would make you ill, but it had very little flavor and was absolutely not worth the price. I've had the Chicken in Mole Sauce at the Ixtapa in Carnation and it was delicious, so when we decided to try the restaurant in Duvall, this is what I ordered. I was really looking forward to it. What a disappointment! First, the plates are so hot when they bring them to the table, you can actually get a 2nd degree burn from touching them. But the real problem was the chicken. It was way overcooked, dry, and tough. The sauce was bitter and tasted nothing like the hint of sweet dark chocolate I was expecting. It just tasted like burned chili powder. Awful.
