    Chicken salad

Ivy is a small space that filled up quickly and stayed full on the evening we had reservations. It is attractive, slightly feminine in furnishing and decor, and clean. There does not appear to be any noise dampening and it gets loud. The cocktail menu is great and their drinks are really good. They are not watery and the non-alcohol ingredients are of unusually high quality. The service is efficient and friendly. The food is a mixed bag, but overall good Great: The smoked salmon bites had dill, red onion, capers, cream cheese on thin cucumber slices. Every element was delicious and perfect. Also great was the shrimp they use and how they cook it. Not fishy, mealy, rubbery at all. It's the best shrimp I've had at a restaurant outside of Louisiana. We had shrimp skewers and shrimp pomegranate salad - both were great! The cheese board was solid, but not exceptional. Two items were mildly to moderately disappointing. The chicken salad was sweet. There was a lot of "You finish it" "No, you can have it." The most disappointing item was the dates with bacon and goat cheese. Yuck. No. If you remember Modesto on the Hill in St Louis then you know how this should be : Small sweet dates stuffed with piquant goat cheese and wrapped in crispy bacon. Naturally sweet, rich, savory, salty, great texture. This was not that. Large dates, no discernible by sight or taste goat cheese, a crumb of bacon on half of them, with a sickly sweet maple glaze. I did not like it at all. The cost was not excessive. I would go back, but I would absolutely skip the dates.

    Vanilla latte

The iced vanilla latte was excellent--smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. Unfortunately, the service didn't quite match the quality of the coffee. It took over 30 minutes just to receive our lattes, and because of the long wait, we decided to skip ordering food and head somewhere else instead. To be fair, they were very busy, and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and unorganized, so I'm hoping it was just an off day. The café itself is absolutely adorable, with a cozy atmosphere that would make it a great spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. While I probably wouldn't choose it for dinner, I'd definitely be willing to give it another try and hope for a smoother experience next time.

Had the best meal last night during restaurant week here at Ivy Cafe. If you've never been to restaurant week, the price is set for a starter, entree and dessert. I chose the shrimp and zucchini skewers and my dinner mate had the gazpacho. The skewers had an amazing sauce. Very good accompaniment. Gazpacho was fresh and seasoned perfectly. We had lemon pasta and chicken pot pie. Both very good and big portions. Dessert was a lemon gooey butter and lemon sorbet. They were both delicious but the sorbet was devine! Perfect for a hot summer night. Ivy Cafe is probably the cutest spot in Clayton. Service was great and it really draws a crowd. Indoor and outdoor seating. Parking, pas de problème!

It was girl dinner night so we chowed down on small plates. With the beautiful weather we opted for outdoor seating. Great choice! Salmon skewers should never leave the menu ! They were the best thing we had. Our server was not wrong with her suggestion! Really enjoyed the meatballs but we missed more seasoning to give it necessary flavor. The sourdough that came with it was a good use of sopping up the sauce. Truffle fries were very nice, slightly salty but a good pairing to the meatballs. I'm interested to try their other items too! Eager to get back.

Here we go again. It's tough to stay away from this place!

In a nutshell, great service, comfortable surroundings and excellent food. What more could you possibly want? Today was a quick in and out but thought anyone reading this might enjoy these words.... I tried the Morning Salad (mixed greens, grilled avocado, tomatoes and 2 scrambled eggs) and the Crispy Potatoes (crispy bacon and cheese). Wow....a most excellent combination if there ever was one. Don't ever sleep on Ivy's drink game. Their food is ridiculously good, but their drink menu is right up there. The Hyde is somewhat of an Ivy Margarita inspiration and YOU need to try it. Okay, I'm going to ask for some grace regarding my pictures as I was taking my last bites, when I realized I forgot to shoot the plates untouched. Oh well, as the immortal Prince says.....'Dig if you will, this picture.....'

Ivy Cafe is honestly such a lovely place! The vibes are perfect for lunch with friends or family, and the atmosphere is always on point. The service is super sweet as well! I do recommend reserving a table since it can get pretty busy plus it's always packed, and for good reason. I highly recommend the pesto pasta with chicken or steak, and the meatballs are also amazing. I just love all their options, so I can't wait to go back and try more!

Great food, wonderful ambiance, spectacular customer service. I can't wait to go back for more espresso martinis.

Cute spot in Clayton that serves super fresh breakfast. The entire staff was very attentive and worked seamlessly around a boil order (which meant no coffee or espresso). Highly recommend making a reservation.

So cute! My stepson booked this while we were in town visiting and we had a lovely brunch here. Service was great and they have a nice brunch/breakfast menu as well as some great lunch options (which start at 11:30). We tried several things and coffees - my husband got a bourbon with coffee ice cubes (ew, but he loved it), two hot vanilla lattes and an iced lavender latte. All drinks were delicious. Brioche French toast, steak and eggs, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and overnight oats with a parmesan rosemary scone. The overnight oats were delicious and a huge portion with fresh strawberries and banana. Very good. Vibes inside are cute brunch and we loved it. Several other pastries available. Their lunch menu is pretty good and also includes a few of the breakfast staples as a carry-over if you want breakfast for lunch. Def. a spot to come to again and again.

Came here for brunch with friends and sat outside which was very pleasant. You can actually have a conversation and also the weather was perfect. The service was very attentive. We ordered a chai tea latte, a cortado, iced hibiscus tea and a mushroom tea with espresso to start. Everyone was very happy with their drinks. I had been to Ivy in the past and didn't love the food but this time I decided to order a Tarine. I can't remember the name but it had whipped feta, pistachios and honey and I added a fried egg on top. It was delicious and very filling. My friends ordered the Morning salad, breakfast sandwich, and a steak salad. We all enjoyed our meals. Overall I am glad I decided to give Ivy another try bc I had a very pleasant experience.

I came here to try the coffee and the tartine before a show so I was glad that they still served coffee past 2PM. I ordered the Evergreen which is with avocado and watermelon radish, it was okay, a little on the pricier side for avocado toast. I enjoyed the coffee though! Service was good, staff was nice and friendly and the dish and drinks came out fairly quickly. I would probably come back and try other dishes next time.

Get the salted syrup espresso martini! Best martini I've had yet! If I were going again, I would get one of their bowls instead of the pasta I got. Their coffee is really good. You should definitely try their housemade syrups.

First time at Ivy Café in Clayton and WOW--what a hidden gem! This cozy, cute spot blew us away with their massive menu lineup: morning, afternoon, evening options, plus separate coffee, libations, and wine-by-the-glass lists. We had NO idea they serve dinner too! I sipped on a gorgeous Pink Dragonfruit Matcha while Scott went for the Lavender Honey Latte--both so dreamy For food, I devoured the Buckingham Tartine (avocado, feta, pomegranate... perfection), and Scott loved his three-cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup The real shocker? They have FIFTEEN different tartine options on the menu!! Count 'em--15! I'm already plotting my return to try them all. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you're in the Clayton area, add Ivy Café to your list ASAP--you won't be disappointed!

Clayton was busy, so street parking was hard to find. Once seated, we were greeted with friendly service and were brought water. I ordered a ginger beer with cranberry juice added to it for a refreshing mocktail. We ordered the Squeaky Cheese to start, the golden-brown cheese curds were gooey and had the perfect crunch. They were served with marinara and a serrano dill aioli. The aioli had just the right amount of spice, complementing the dill flavor. The marinara was saucy and also good. I ordered the Bacon Jam Burger with fries. The burger was juicy, sweet, and had a nice crunch. The bacon jam was subtle, but it enhanced the overall flavor. My only complaint was that the bottom bun came out a bit soggy causing the burger to lose structure as I ate it. The fries were thin and crunchy! I had a lovely experience and would like to come back to try a cocktail!

Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

We awkwardly gathered our belongings without protest and were rushed outside unassisted, with the other patrons staring at us. As we exited, we heard the server reappear and graciously apologize to the waiting party, offering them champagne. The table outside was set when we arrived but then actively cleared by the busser after we sat down. No one came back to check in. We felt unwelcome and quickly left. It was unnecessarily uncomfortable and put a damper on what was supposed to be a celebratory meal. This was a service failure. Cooked perfectly, fresh and delicious. The wilted romaine seemed odd at first but totally rounded out the potato mash at the base, with the absolute flavor-bomb of the shiitakes. Highly recommend this dish any day! My boyfriend opted for the NY Strip; we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we'd ever had; seasoned perfectly and cooked masterfully. There was a slight mishap whereby a food runner gave him a tasting portion of the strip (likely meant for another table); we first didn't realize and were very disappointed with the size. However, without a word from us, the chef came out and personally explained, apologized, and corrected--I didn't snap a photo of the full portion when it came out, but it was perfect and much more what we expected. That brings me to the service, which was spectacular. Several staff members gave us a personal touch and they all seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The space is beautiful and intimate. It was moderately busy and still quiet. The atmosphere feels upscale, but not pretentious or unapproachable. This place was on my radar for a long time, and I sure wish I'd gone long ago. The space itself is very chic and modern. Our event was on a patio on an extremely hot and humid day. While the idea of the glass ceilings is nice to let in the natural light, it unfortunately made me feel like I was roasting in a greenhouse with the sun coming in - the fans didnt do much for air movement and unfortunately there was just no breeze that day so the open balcony didnt help! I also found the chairs to be very uncomfortable. They are deep and may be comfortable for a tall man, but for a women of average height, you cant sit back in the chair without your legs sticking out straight like a child so you have to sit forward on the edge of the seat and try not to slump. I ordered the Forest Park Fizz which was just ok. The charcuterie board was suffering from being in the heat so I cant fault them for that, but the beef filled pastries and the risotto balls were both pretty lame. I would come back to try a different drink and something else from the menu but definitely not on a super hot & humid day!
