I've been to Ivar's many times but never this beautiful location on the water. We came in on a busy Friday night and still got sat in a booth right away, in the wonderful Larry's section. This man did a fabulous job and was so nice along the way. We couldn't decide on what we wanted to eat (because I wanted everything) so we got many appetizers to split. Oysters on the half shell, clam chowder (we ordered one but he split it for us without even asking it was awesome!), stuffed mushrooms (sooo yummy) and the tower which included crab cakes (delightful), coconut prawns (yummm) and seared ahi which was good but not my favorite of them all. We made a quick stop here to eat before our tour of Boeing. We were lucky that there was no line at all. I opted for the small prawns and chips and Gary got the five piece with chips. We sat on the benches next to Ivar's and happily ate our meal outside. The weather was perfect with the sun peeking through the clouds. The small prawns were good, but lacked the flavor I was looking for. The five price fish absolutely was the star - perfectly fried and great flavor from the breading to the cod itself. The chips were good and rounded out the meal. We saw a lot of people getting soft serve, but didn't have time before our tour. Great portions, great prices, and quick service! read more

Nautically themed and super bright with many windows overlooking Whidbey Island ferry and Puget Sound, Ivers serves up all the local favorites in super warm and welcoming setting. If the weather is right and it has been particularly warm as of late, outside deck seating is a must. My colleague has the salmon special which was grilled to perfection just a tad rare with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I have the Louis salad with crab and pay shrimp which was just outstanding! LOVELOVELOVE Ivar's!! We stopped by this location after going to the Boeing Tour. There's minimal sit down space so everything is take out here (read: no trays!) Service is quick and food comes out fast and fresh! Highly recommend their fish and chips along with a side of the white chowder. Avoid the long ferry lines when you're driving down Mulkiteo speedway and make a left turn and find parking along that side of the road. Ivar's also has their own parking lot if you make a right turn but you will get stuck behind the gazillion cars trying to get on and off the ferry! read more

Rude staff. I ordered 3 piece Cajun fish and when the blond girl was ringing me out she asked if I wanted to donate 60 cents and I said no. When handed my food I looked in the bag and one of the 3 piece was over cooked. So I said " next time don't serve me burned fish" she of course looks at the girl behind the the frier thinking I am gone says " she wouldn't donate 60 cents but expects good fish" I DON'T HAVE TO DONATE TO GET QUALITY FOOD. I just payed $10.30 for it!!! I live couple blocks away for 14 years and been coming here often and never could have I expected this kind of service. I live in Mukilteo and visited Ivar's yesterday 4/26. I knew it was going to be crazy busy because it was like the first 80 degree day of the year. Well I was right, there was a line of about 10 people waiting to order. I'm sure this is not unusual during the summer. I was thoroughly appalled at the customer service of the two women working at the counter. One was named Amber with dark hair. She was calling out to people in line to see what fried food they could get started. Nothing wrong with that! However her tone of voice was extremely disrespectful, and she never smiled and kept rolling her eyes. At one point a boy, probably 10 years old, came up and asked if their food was almost done. She responded in an extremely rude manner and said "you ordered chicken. Chicken takes 3 times as long" then rolled her eyes. Another gentleman asked for an extra spoon and she just handed him a spoon and rolled her eyes again. The blonde woman who was actually ringing people up was also rude. She never smiled or said hello. Just looked at us with a blank stare waiting for us to give her our order. After ordering, we stood off to the side of the register, kind of in the way, but there was really nowhere else to stand because it was so crowded. The blonde woman said to my husband "you need to move to the side" in a rude way and when he didn't hear her, she gave him this look that literally looked like she wanted to murder him. I'm not exaggerating! I've worked in the food industry for several years and I know that no matter how busy or stressed you are, or how stupid customers can be, you keep your composure and you show RESPECT to the people who are paying for you to be there! Afterwards we went over to diamond knot where a young girl was hand scooping ice cream for a line of probably 30 people by herself!!! She was so friendly and smiled the whole time! My advice, NEVER go to Ivars when it's busy. My advice to this establishment....there are other people out there that would appreciate this job more than these ladies seemed to. read more

Great little street front window to stop by for chowder. They have red and white versions of the clam chowder as well as a smoked salmon chowder. I didn't really care for the smoked salmon chowder. I always get the white clam chowder. It's great for any occasion: while waiting in line to board the ferry, quick snack after work, or even leftovers from a larger portion for breakfast. Only thing I have would suggest to make it even better is to serve it with the bread from inside the restaurant. They come with little cracker packets, but that doesn't compare to fluffy dipping bread. Have not gotten anything fried here so I will no comment on that. Soft serve is also nice! read more

My husband got the crab and shrimp melt which tasted good but he described it as more mayo and filler than seafood. I got a salad with grilled chicken and it was plain. I'd have done better with a grocery store bag salad. The chicken was bland. We had key lime pie for dessert and this was the big disappointment....frozen, from a box, I am sure. I would try Red Cup if we were ever in the area again. Met a nice older couple in the ferry line and that's where they normally are. This is just outside the fine dining restaurant, the Seafood bar is the quick service location out front and is a great way to pass the time while waiting for the ferry to Clinton, WA. Service is fast and chowder is served piping hot. My fav is the Cajun fish and chips, but the orignal works as well. Ask for your chowder to be a mix of both red and white for a bit of an adventure! I am not having good luck finding really good seafood in the Everett area during this visit. My coworkers and I decided to try Ivar's for a week night dinner after a recommendation from the hotel's front desk. We actually walked up to the fast food stand that's located on the corner of the street, but the actual restaurant was around the corner (I'm sure they get a lot of people making that mistake). After an awkward few minute wait at the hostess desk, we were finally seated and then another 10 awkward minutes passed before the waitress finally greeted our table. After getting us waters, the waitress was pretty attentive. All 3 of us started with a cup of clam chowder, which was ghostly white in color and extremely thick. The flavor wasn't bad, but my colleagues preferred another restaurant's chowder over Ivar's. They claimed the restaurant we tried the night before had more pieces of clams and less potato filler. As far as entree, I had the seafood cobb salad which was pretty disappointing. The smoked scallops were really off-putting to me that it was the first time I ever NOT finished my scallops. The salmon portion was tiny (2 oz?), and the rest was barely average for cobb ingredients. For as much as I paid, I definitely expected more from my salad. The bread they bring out is sourdough and nicely warm, so I was filling up on carbs in the meantime. My coworkers thought their caesar w/ salmon was average, and the ahi tuna (starter as an entree) was good. The busboy wasted no time clearing any plate that was seemingly finished (even if the other patrons were still eating). That left one of our coworkers awkwardly sitting there with no plate as he watched us eat. At the end of the day, I might come back if I have no where else to go. They definitely had other dishes that I wouldn't mind trying, but I would not get the cobb again. read more

Exceptional service! Food was very fresh and came out quickly. My wife has a dairy allergy so the server "Eric" made sure to go speak to the chef and double check everything was dairy free! He even brought out a print out of the ingredients and swapped the complimentary bread with chips and salsa. The soughdough bread bowl was perfect! i tend to think of this place as something out of the past. really old, and not very good. but, it was okay. i wouldn't say it's a destination place, but if i was in the area, i would come again. we were just after lunch and my food was fine. i went after something simple and there is a quite the view. even though they serve some other non piscean proteins, you want to eat sea dwellers here. i think i had fish and chips, and it's just fine. come and do the touristy thing and stop in. read more

Waiting in line to catch the Mukilteo Ferry to Whidbey? Get out of your car and come here! Awesome happy hour. I've actually never had their lunch or dinner but their happy hour menu has a wide variety that will fill you up. Crispy Calamari with the Chipolte is pretty good. And not every place knows how to make calamari well. Maybe it was the sauce that made it good. Seared Rare Ahi Tuna was good. Has a bit of a kick from the sauce. They are known for their calm chowder. Probably one of the best. Cesar Salmon Salad is a big portion and very filling. Jumbo prawns are really jumbo. Oyster shooters...$0.75! I like my oysters cooked, but the shooters aren't so bad. Seafood Linguine is rather new but it's very delicious for being only $6.50. A good size portion too. Fresh Penn Cove Mussels in a Thai red curry broth, sake, ginger, and cilantro are a must for me each time. I say...try everything once!! They change up their menu quite often, so don't be disappointed if you don't see your favorite on there anymore. Top it off with an Ivarita drink and you'll be good to go. It's made with Tequila (usually I'm not a fan of tequila) with cranberry and some other fruity mix. I would limit myself to two Ivarita's because the make it pretty strong. read more

I can't even. I cannot stop by Mukilteo without getting Ivar's. Their fish n' chips are by far the BEST, FRESHEST I've ever had. I have given up fish n' chips at every other place because it'll just disappoint and taste frozen and tasteless. This fish is deep fried, not greasy, crispy outside, super hot, melts in your mouth, unbelievable flavor. My mother came to visit last month and we threw down $45 for three people because we wanted to try a lot of food, and the quality is worth it. We got fish n' chips (cod fish), fish n' chips (halibut), fried oysters, cajun mini shrimp, and some drinks. We went nuts over the oysters, and even though the cod is my favorite, the halibut was stunning! There is always a line but it moves quickly, the service girls are always super friendly and quick, and I see a lot of people come here for big ice cream soft serves. I'll try those when it warms up! For two people, the 5 piece fish n' chips is more than enough. I think it is $10. This is one of those places where you don't want to be cheap and cheat yourself out of an amazing experience.
