We made a reservation in advance and were lucky enough to be sat next to the window so we were able to overlook the water. Our server came over immediately to give us menus and bring water. I ordered crab bisque and the seafood risotto. Our server brought some bread over shortly after we ordered. It was warm and came with whipped butter. Yum. The crab bisque was delicious. I got some chunks of crab in there so that was great. My seafood risotto was packed with seafood! There was halibut, cod, salmon, and shrimp in it. All was good. The risotto itself was just okay. I little watery than I would've liked. I was sooo stuffed by my coworkers wanted dessert so I got chocolate cream that came in a pizzelle cookie. It also had some raspberry sauce on the plate. This review is for the fish bar, not the restaurant. Customer service is lacking here. I've been in the restaurant industry for 22 years as a server so I feel I'm usually an understanding guest and have a lot of experience in guest service. Today was busy, I get that. I waited 45 minutes for my food like everyone else. I made a mistake and forgot to order a soda for my child. When they called my order I asked if I could add a soda really quick as it would have taken another 45 minutes in line with three small children to get to the counter if I had to wait again. At first, they wouldn't even answer me. The guy just kept breaking down boxes and walking away. They were not even ringing in anyone's orders for the five minutes I stood at the counter. A woman from the back finally yells at me, "you need to get in line if you want to order a soda!" I replied that I already ordered and my food and my food was coming up right now, I just want to add one soda. She yells again "all these people have been waiting so you need to get in line!" Well, I waited my turn too! In the five minutes that you literally didn't even enter an order, you could have quickly rang in a soda to ADD to my order you were already working on. The line was at least, 50 people deep! To literally yell at me in front of that line of people was uncalled for! Calmly explain your policy if it is in fact a policy. I've been coming to this Ivars for as long as I can remember and 90% of the time, I've had a pleasant experience with your staff. Stressed or not, they need to be professional and not completely rude, almost mean. I won't be returning for awhile. I went into the Ivars restaurant and ordered drinks from the bar and they were amazing! The staff in the seafood bar needs to be re trained in professionalism and customer service. They also did not put all the ranch I paid for and no tarter or ketchup. When I spend $70 on take out, I expect to be treated with kindness and respect. read more

It didn't taste bad but was dry and just not like dungeoness should be. The oysters tasted great. The salad tasted great with the smoked scallops. This is a cool location to experience, but the food was toooooo expensive for the quantity, and taste. It is fun to eat outside, and they have a small indoor dining area if its cold. You order at a window which is cool, but they go so fast and blurted out our number, we had to wait till the cashier came back to re ask our order number. We ordered Salmon and Chips, and a Cole Slaw with a bowl of chowder. Before we walked away they were saying here is your Cole Slaw in a to go bag, not with the meal. Then we waited for maybe 15mins for the rest of the meal. I would have preferred a little more time spent handing me our order number on a ticket, and the Cole Slaw packaged together with the meal, as we were taking it all to go over to the park. Once we started eating our food we realized it was very bland. The best thing of the meal was the Cole Slaw. Although the pieces should of been cut way smaller to encapsulate the cabbage with the delicious dressing. The Salmon just had a Salmon flavor with no spices of encouragement, and the Clam Chowder didn't have hearty chunks of potatoes or nice sized clams, it was chopped up so fine and needed some salt n pepper or chicken bouillon. It was bland. I do recommend going here for a cool experience, but we probably wont be going back at 13.00 for the Salmon n Chips that was the size of a large fry at McDonalds, 7.95 for a good sized bowl of chowder, and 3.00 for Cole Slaw. read more

They mixed up our order after we clearly heard the server calling our order and even looking at us. My son double checked by asking about the order. When we realised it wasn't ours we brought it to the server attention. He realised it wasn't ours, but the lady behind the kitchen got upset and was rude and condesending shouting at us that we got someone else's order. The fish portions has become so tiny as well, I swear they halted them just to keep up with the shrinkflation. I was excited to try Ivar's during my first trip to the West Coast, but found the food to be a little lackluster. I went for dinner around 7:30pm with a party of four and was able to get a table easily. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and since it's right on the water, there's an excellent view. We ordered the Possession Sound paella, Ivar's famous cod fish 'n' chips, and the Alaskan halibut in a tomato and fennel broth. I thought the paella had a decent amount of seafood in it and was tasty, but not really a paella. The Alaskan halibut was okay but nothing special. While the service was great, I can't say I would return any time soon since I wasn't that impressed by the food. While Ivar's is a really nice restaurant, better seafood can be found elsewhere. read more

Pulling in here is always great. Be it in your car for that very long ferry wait to Langley ( which I've done so many times) or just to come to the beach! Luckily, they had 2 lines. Ice cream line vs anything fried food line. I went for the latter. They are known for true cod and chips but for some reason, I always like their shrimp & chips more. Or even clams & chips. Jumbo prawns & chips is the way to go. Always super sweet giant prawns with freshly fried fries. I usually don't eat the fries but prawns are definitely delicious especially with their tartar sauce. The true cod! Still not my favorite but it's still tasty. You can get it Cajun style if you want spice and it is spicyyyyy. I got mixed but you can tell by the color. The wait wasn't too bad even on such a busy day. We went here for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. They were following all the COVID protocols and sat us outside on the patio on the pier with a great view of the ferry. They attended to us quickly with water and fresh bread (SO fresh and warm and delicious). I wasn't sure what beer I wanted so our server was nice enough to let me sample two before I picked one. Most of the group had fish and chips, while I had clam chowder and a house salad. The clam chowder here is super creamy (and is very different from Duke's). It was slightly not seasoned enough for me but I think that is a personal preference. Food came out hot and we all enjoyed our meals. I've been going to ivars since I've been a little girl. Love the food and have core memories. On September 28th 2024 around 7:30 I received the worst service of my life. I was in shock to be honest. I was verbally and physically assaulted. The brunette cashier yanked my bag of food thinking I was grabbing someone else's order. Was Verbally yelled at by her as well and the blonde in the kitchen was yelling. I was in shock at the moment. I stopped by here on one of the scorching days and the area was packed. While there is parking available, a lot of it was full/taken due to the proximity of the beach. Eventually I found a spot and went in. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not full, despite having strong AC, so we didn't have to wait long. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, which came with a small side of lobster bisque and a salad (a seafood spin on a grilled cheese and tomato soup combo). Everything was delicious and the portion size felt pretty generous. The location is beautiful, right on the waterfront, so if you're lucky to snag a window seat or a seat on the patio (if it's not too hot), I'd highly recommend it! read more

It seemed like Ivar's is an institution with many outlets around WA or Seattle vicinity. That was a good thing as we didn't have time to eat at Ivar's when in Seattle but I could still try it in Mukilteo. I was not that hungry and ordered the cup of white clam chowder and clams n chips (without chips). I was not that into the clams as they were fried and I tasted the batter more than the clams. The chowder was really good though and the 4 stars was for that. It was creamy, thick and chockful of clam bits and potatoes etc. Super yummy. I will get a bowl next time. I got these to go though you can also bring the food in to dine inside when it is cold. read more

The best seafood I have tasted in my life. Came here with family during our vacation visiting my aunt and we had to try this restaurant famous for its clam chowder. There is an outdoor shop where you can order items to go but you have to try the restaurant or you will regret it. We waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. Our waiter was extremely professional and attentive to us, asking how the meal was, how we wanted dishes served, if they should come out at the same time or if at different times, in which order. The view of the ocean is also incredible and the ambiance is very comforting.
